Since the other one got so long, I figured I would start a new thread about Umstead.

So my prep for the 50 is going nicely, I am looking forward to seeing everyone there.

I got an email reminder from Active.com about Umstead, like who forgets about a 100 mile race?
WAIT...you mean Umstead is THIS weekend? Thanks Active, I guess I'll cancel my plans to go to Home Depot and eat at the Sizzler!!!!
I got that e-mail too and am absolutely cracking up --as if we need a reminder about a 100 mile event --darn, will have to start packing now.

I especially like how you stayed around to cheer the other runners on for the next 10 hours You sound like good people.
Well, I tend to dwell on my good races and pretend the bad ones didn't happen.
It was actually a great opportunity to get the enjoyment (and pain) of running a
race and then the same benefits of watching one at the finish!
Formationflier was even around when i finished Rocky Raccoon!! I love watching people finish races, especially 100 milers, and especially the last people right before the cut offs, cause there is so much good positive energy and guts out there. I showered and then came back after RR to get my drop bags and caught the last finishers coming in. I am sure they got some of the biggest cheers all day!
I'll just pretend I paced my imaginary friend for 84 miles then stopped just in time
to watch people come in for their finishes!

Current forecast is 100% chance of heavy rain during the day, tapering off to showers during the evening, and clearing after midnight.

Looks like it will be more challenging than last year for everybody!
Good luck to everybody this weekend! Lay it on the line and give it all you got. We will be thinking about you this weekend.
