Since the other one got so long, I figured I would start a new thread about Umstead.

So my prep for the 50 is going nicely, I am looking forward to seeing everyone there.

How many days?
Are you sure that's not just the obligatory cold?

Do we have an up to date list of who is running and who is crewing/pacing?
What and when is this event?

One of these weeks I could/should come to Umstead for a long run, but it is a 2 1/2 hour drive so it wouldn't be a super early long run.
thanks for the U Trail info, IEatHills. I'll keep it in mind although right now I'm not looking for super technical trails-- are they? After Boston!

I do have special plans next weekend, but I appreciate you keeping me in the loop. Feel free to continue to do so! I'm not as far away as it may seem.
There's a chance I'll be at Grandfather's -- I'm hoping to! Been talking about it.

I'll keep Saturdays in mind for a later long run in Umstead for sure. The next two weekends I have travel and/or a race, but we can touch base in March. I'd love a change of scenery and to get on some hills. Even if we weren't together the whole time, it would be fun to see each other out there.

Fun party races are always welcome on my radar screen.
Yeah, me too. It was my fault. Oops.

Back to Umstead in April ...
Hummus!

Remember last year we decided we needed more "real" food as crew? We'll have to work up a little menu as it gets closer. Stuff that is more sustaining than pretzels and M & M's but will keep well.

As for the OBX Marahon it's all in the landscape you're used to. The race is Southbound, on asphalt and dirt roads through some beautiful areas. There is one "hill" in mile 22 -- a bridge from Nags Head to Roanoke Island. I live ~30 miles from there and hills take the wind out of my sails (but am working on that as much as my flat surroundings allow).
I also have two coolers I can bring, as well as any utensils. I have an apparatus you can use over a campfire to toast bread!

Oh wait, we can't make fires there, can we?
*bump*

Because I am so looking forward to spending time with you people and in the park!
I am coming Friday night through the weekend. I will have a ~15 mile long run that week. I typically do long runs anywhere from 8:50-9:30 pace. Most likely at Umstead, it would be the slower end of that.

If that helps anyone, I can pace. Otherwise I am very willing to do some "slower" pacing miles after running long (not sure about a whole loop after 15 ...). I can crew and otherwise help out as need be. What else?
