Since the other one got so long, I figured I would start a new thread about Umstead.

So my prep for the 50 is going nicely, I am looking forward to seeing everyone there.
my training is going well. I finally feel recovered from my 100 miler a couple weeks ago! yeah! I am going to run a 50K next weekend for some good quality miles. I did 5 hours today on pretty hilly terrain. I am pooped! It was good and hard.

My mileage never gets as high as 75, but i do a lot of cross training, so maybe the effort equals out?
I have always thought the HAT run was too close to BRR or Umstead, whichever i was running that year. That is great that your friends got off the waitlist!
I did a two week taper for RR100 and assume it will be similar.
Ethel is undecided now about the weekend, but i may get my DH to come up! I think you met him briefly in VT.
Hey all!

I was wondering if we can get a list of all the peeps coming, runners and pacers and crew and who is up for pacing, so we can start planning that? The loop is 12.5 miles.
Phred-- i did 25 hours at Rocky Raccoon a few weeks ago. 24 is a slim shot for me, but i am gonna try my best. See how the day unfolds. RR is easier, but i found the roots slowed me down a lot on the more technical sections. I would love to finish before the sun comes up and i missed that by about 25 minutes at RR
I am tapering, but i do not have my schedule yet from my coach for the next couple weeks. Historically, three weeks out from a 100 miler, have done long runs of about 4 hours and mid week runs not much over an hour and a couple days of cross training. Closer to the event, I will have an extra rest day and more reduction of time running and x-training. Week of the race is usually very light. I also get a massage that week.

the newer Brooks seem to run a bit smaller and i went up a full size! oy. I wear contacts and run with a mini visine in my pocket. I have an emergency pair of contacts in a drop bag. I hate running with glasses and if it is humid out, then it is even worse.
ha! he looks related to my precious baby
