Good morning. The Moody Blues are playing a concert right near my house tonight, but we decided not to attend due to financial constraints. DH is still out of work so we're not doing anything really expensive these days. My little splurge purchase of a running skirt was enough frivolous spending for this month.

I ran last night with the women's clinic at Westchester Road Runner (our "local", aka 40 miles away store) and it was a horrible slogfest. It was very humid although only 86 degrees, and I had trouble breathing. Both hips were hurting by the time I finished 2.5 miles, with 3 very brief (about 50 ft) walking breaks. By the time I got home, I was achey and feeling chilled and headachey too, despite lots and lots of hydration all day and following the run. Just not my day, I guess.

This morning I had PT for my hips and I decided to take a rest day with absolutely no workouts at all. I'm sure tomorrow will be better. I plan to do either a treadmill run if it's too hot & humid out, or run around my condo complex if the weather is bearable.

Enjoy your day and hydrate well!

Good morning! I like working out before work and am enjoying lifting a lot more than I ever thought I would. The Y near the office is small but the weight room is basically deserted in the morning, I found out. I knew lunch wasn't practical because it's packed then. I had to use the 15 lb. dumbbells because they don't have 12's there, so now I feel a little like I've tried to pick up my car. Brooke's got me doing trackwork today instead of hills so that should hopefully prevent that little tweak from last week. So this evening I'll be doing lots of 200m intervals.

Good morning.

Nice to see Munch posting.

Just focus on the positives, Susan, and put the negatives behind you. Tomorrow will be better. Opie, I also like doing my workouts before work as it's too easy to make excuses to skip them later in the day.

I ran 4 miles with my friend this morning in about 42 minutes. My legs felt tight but were fine by the end. What a spectacular Montana morning with temps about 60 degrees and wall-to-wall blue skies. The sunshine store is open for business. I ran 8 miles Sunday in the beautiful Boulder River valley during our running club retreat. The gravel road followed the river and passed by some nice campgrounds. We ate breakfast and then hiked a 4 mile roundtrip to see a waterfall. So it was a fun weekend with plenty of fresh mountain air and exercise.

I have sure been all over the board with my weekly mileage. The last few weeks have totaled 13, 12, 8, 24 and 31 miles.

Enjoy your day.

I'm too young for the moody blues :¬)

Got destroyed this morning while trying to do speedwork, Mrs G and Mikey just left me for dead. Doing this 2 days after my 42km was probably silly, it was funny but painful.

Did an easy 3 miles at lunchtime, I am well and have no DOMS but I confess that the body is a little tired.

Good Job my next focus race is not until a week on Sunday.

Montana sounds heavenly, Choovie. We are still dealing with HHH here on the Right Coast.

Opie, these workouts are going to give you an extra gear by the end of the summer.

Another 30 minutes on the elliptical this morning followed by core and upper body weight training today. I'm so looking forward to running again.

Happy birthday Lab!

Tom - the real question is this. Did you keep your trunks on or did you loose a noodle too?

Choovie - I want those temps and blue skies.

Gobi - got left for dead? I doubt it.

Riley - ((Hips))

Irun - Hiya

FloridaB - congrats on the job. Too often our self worth is tied to what we do. It's the first question we ask a stranger.

Opie - do you try to pick up your car often enough to know what that feels like? My grandfather often told me to go pick up my car if I was frustrated (if ya know what I mean). :)

Ran a weed eater at church for a couple hours this morning. Waiting for a belt to arrive to put on the mower. We'll need a hay baler in a day or two if we don't get it cut.

Tonight I'm going to go inflict some pain on the local track.

Susan, DH and I saw Moody Blues in Seattle about 8 yrs ago. I thought it was a very ho-hum show then and wouldn't go see them again. The concert was not very long and about 50 minutes in, they had to take a break (we called it 'old man's potty break' ) . . . we were really disappointed, so I doubt you would have missed a great show by not being able to go this time around.

5.2 miles on the hot track last night and will hopefully get in another RAW tonight. Need to get used to running in the heat and today should be low 90's and the hottest part of our day is right around 4-6 p.m.

TomWhite, my son can't wait for school to start either. He's already counting down the days.

Wondering what kind of friends Gobi is hanging out with that leave him for dead. . .

I was training with MrsG who is currently doing 1200 miles a month on the bike and at peak is a 60 min 10 mile runner who is good for a 65 min 25 mile TT and wee Mikey who at 16 placed 2nd in our local senior duathlon riding a 300 pound steel bike with 8 crap gears.(he is a 2 min 800 and 4.30 miler). I could just about keep up to do my turns on the front for minute reps(I was working all the time to stay on the bus) but they did indeed shell me straight out the back on the first climb and on the 2nd climb.

About to get on the rollers and do an easy 30 minute spin

According to today's horoscope, maybe I should have been in The Moody Blues: "Your energy puts you front and center, just where you want to be. Soak up the warmth of the spotlight and get ready to rock your audience with your best moves. Don't worry if you're unprepared -- you know you're at your best when you improvise. It's not like you're at a loss when entertaining a crowd, especially with the extra dose of charisma and charm that you've got now." I got paid to see them in Chicago in the early 80's-I was an usher for Andy Frain Crowd Management and we worked the concert.

Happy Birthday, Labduck! Drink a beer for me after work. (Don't worry, I'll have one at bedtime).

There may be no such thing as a free lunch, but I got one today. Spaghetti Warehouse was busy with tourists, and I had to wait on my food a bit, so the manager comped my meal without me saying a word. And better yet, DD called right after that to tell me she passed all 3 of her AP tests, making a 5 on one of them, the highest score possible! I guess I should get back to work before my luck runs out and I get fired or something.

funny, my horoscope today reads: "you will hunt down an astrologer, tie them up, and slowly pull their toenails off with a pair of rusty pliers." interesting that it's already come true today, twice... and maybe it'll happen again after dinner?

6mi in chilly tucson temps, brrr. 9min pace... slowed down by several layers of sweats and the wind resistance from my mittens and scarf.

i did see the moody blues at a concert in hawaii, back in the 80's, before gobi was born. fun show.

Tuuuuuuesday Afternoon.

Gobi - ksrnr stands corrected. Got you covered ks.

1st day back to work and first day running along the river after either no running at all, or running on the track. The smallest hill, probably negligible to the rest of you, caught my complete attention. 5 miles included 4 miles progression, but due to the wind and the aforementioned hill, progression went 8:33 / :10 / :19 / :12.

I did not run at all yesterday but took almost 50 discus throws, most with the spin, some with just a throw from my "base". My legs were very tired after that last night, and were tired during my run today, too. Who'da thunkit?

I am going to a community track meet if it doesn't rain tonight, and will get about 6 measured throws, hopefully. I'm finding that I need about 10 warm up throws prior to the official ones in order to get my best throws measured. Next Tuesday will be my last chance to throw in competition (community level) prior to the ESG's.
