G'morn!

Eric,
That pic with Santa is a nice tradition for your family!

I'm going to attempt bootcamp today, but will do nothing that may piss off my newest injury.
Yesterday, I did a tough kettle bell workout....no jumping or running, but major sore legs today.
Kettles are da bomb.

Later it'll be morning errands and afternoon farm brush cleanup. This should be the final hauling till spring.

Happy cyber-shopping today, everyone!

Good morning folks! I managed to drag my butt out on Saturday and this morning as well. I think it was around 3 miles, but I haven't checked the distance yet. The weather here is nice, warm in the daytime...and cool at night. I love sleeping with the windows open!

Hi everyone... back to work today... booo.... Why can't the weekend just last one more day?

Saturday's workout was pretty tough. We went to Lexington to Crossfit Maximus to check them out (my friend blogs about various crossfit facilities he visits) and they kicked my tookus. Mike said it was easy, but then again, he's a lot stronger than I am. the workout was:

(with a partner)
7 rounds for time

14 backsquats (my partner and I used 85#)
14 burpee box-jumps (we used a 20" box)
200 meter sprint

I don't remember our time because I couldn't see straight when we were done. It was a fun workout though.

Yesterday, although I didn't workout... I did manage to sprint up two... count them... TWO parking garages... yikes. Fun times.

Oy!
20" box jumps? That's practically my inseam...jeebus...I would have crashed and broken something trying those.
And squats at 85lbs? No clue if I could to those cuz we don't own a rack for me to load. All my barbell work is whatever I can get off the floor and clean/press on and off my shoulders (not much at all, sadly)
Way to kick it!

Kettle bells are sweet torture. I wish I owned heavier ones; wonder if santa can haul in another 20. And perhaps a 25 or 30 pounder.
I have two 15s and one 20. Often I'll use both 15s for doubles because I want more weight.

Yesterday I did snatches, double power cleans with squats, reverse lunges, TGUs (nasty things, as you said), a pyramid series of swings with sumo squats, single legged deadlifts,

I can hardly move today because my legs are sooooo sore!

My normal box jumps are 24", but because they ones saturday incorporated burpees, I did them a bit lower.

My backsquate PR is 133#, which is not much... but I haven't tried for a 1 round max since last March... I think we'll do that again at the start of the year.

Snatches are SO HARD! If I go over 55# I end up on my tookus!

Our normal kettelbell weight for women is 35#... I want to get some for home at that weight, but they are so expensive! I have 2 of the 15# ones, but I don't even use them anymore.

What do you power clean? That is my favorite lift... well, the clean and jerk is really my favorite lift. I was screwing around on Thanksgiving morning and C&J'd 95#. I know I can do more, but we were doing hitgh reps of light deads and I just thought... hey.... let's play clean and jerk....

Yeah!!!! Someone to talk Oly lifts with! You just made my day!

Oh, how did you manage the single-legged deadlifts? That incorporates a single legged squat, right? We call them pistols and I've been working on them for months and still can't get below 90 degrees when I descend.... Also NASTY things.

What program are you using? Is it something at the gym or something at home? OR something you designed?

jenna,

the single legged deadlifts aren't the pistols....i hate pistols, and don't do them. HAHAHAHA

this is a deadlift with two 15s straight back, slightly bent standing leg, bend over to almost tap ground with kettles, back up to balanced stance

you are tall and strong, sistah....I envy your strength and what you can do in the gym

Overall, i'm sure i could have gone heavier [maybe even now at almost 59 yrs old], but i haven't had the racks or the spotters, etc

I have never ever attempted a single max at anything. *sigh*

Back to the kettles:

my power cleans to squats are only with two 15s, i'm sure i could do two 20s or possibly two 25s

the snatch is a single 20 [my shoulder could NOT handle heavier, i'm sure]

I do all weight and lifting workouts in the PortyBasementTortureChamber.

I have several DVDs, but generally end up mashing a variety of each into my own personal workout.

My goals are to slow down aging, have fun, stay injury-free.

right now, my left heel is flaring up with plantar fascitis symptoms similar to the right foot. DAMMIT

So the intensity of our bootcamp (which is done at the middle school gym) will have to get cut WHEY back for a bit.
