Wow, do I feel late to the party today, so many posts already. An update on my wife, she does have a hairline fracture of her right ankle. It really sucks for her, she is still in a considerable amount of pain, which seems odds considering the injury. She/we think that she might have some additional damage to her ankle (i.e. ligament) but we won't know until the swelling goes down in a few more days. She has a call into the doctor. It also means no driving for the next 10 - 14 days, so that means I have take care of driving the girls to some of their various activities (dance, gymnastics, etc.). It will have a bit of an impact on my training schedule for a bit.

Today: When I get home from work I am going to have to do a two hour run since I wasn't able to do it yesterday. I was volunteering at a race, then had Daddy-duty for the rest of the day, e.g. making lunch for everyone, running out to get sneakers for my oldest daughter (like having my teeth pulled), then going to a BBQ at our neighbors. I wanted to do my run after all of that, but I wasn't really feeling up for a two hour run at 9:15PM in the rain. I am just saying that yesterday was my rest day and I am going to put in a long training week this week.

A friend of mine at the pool said something that has resonated with me: "We aren't professional athletes, we have real jobs, family, and other things that come ahead of training sometimes." He is right, even though it is easy for me to focus on only myself and my training for my first Ironman, but there are three other people (my wife and two daughters) that are relying on me pick up the slack. I am going to do my best to get my training in over the next two weeks, but there will probably have to be a few concessions on my end since there are only so many hours in each day.

Have a great day everyone!
