I stayed up way too late watching the dastardly Jets win a close game with the Dolphins. The game turned, on 3rd and 10 midway through the 4th quarter, when a drunk driver caught a 1st down pass between tight double coverage near the sidelines. Grrrr (on many levels).

So consequently I couldn't drag myself up this morning. I have a few mile repeats to run tomorrow, then it's all downhill to Sunday.

Let me add to the slackerdom. I'm supposed to run later this evening, but I'm still suffering the effects of a stupid cold. You all have inspired me to bag my run. I appreciate that.

But I would be amiss not to give CNY a HUGE shout out for her awesome marathon yesterday. 1st overall female!

CNY won her marathon??? WOW!!! Congrats!

I'm back amongst the working, after a wonderful weekend away at the coast.

sorry to break the slacker theme here, but after 3 days of slacking, I need to unslack. I only ran a total of 10 miles over the wknd (6 one day and 4 the next). We should hit low 90's today, but hopefully by the time I start running after work, it'll begin cooling off.

Congrats CNY on your 1st place woman.

congrats BAP on your PR mile.

Well, someone has to run today............4 miles in the woods, starting a reverse taper. There's a trail marathon locally in early November or a 50K in the CA desert in early December. I'd like to shoot for one of them, depending on how things unfold over the next few weeks.

Have to second the breger advice.....as the colors usually mean something serious. Hope that's not the case ks.

slacker here too but not by choice. xray of foot shows no fracture or tears but a severe sprain. Swelling is down from last night. Haven't run since Fri morning and won't attempt to at least Wed morning and maybe not till Fri morning. Still plan on running my marathon if no other symptoms appear.

KS, Your FB pictures downright scary. Glad nothing is broken.

I'm slacking with the rest of youse. I went out to the car to grab my running bag at lunch and tweaked my back. My foot hurts from yesterday too, so that's good enough reason for me to take a day or two off.

Happy resting my friends. And to those who run today, thank you for taking up the slack.

So since Im not running at lunch, I'm catching up on FB. The Javelina 12 hour night run was this past weekend. Three of my friends running reported seeing multiple rattlesnakes. Eek! I love snakes, but the non-venomous kind---- and in cages, not on trails in the middle of the night.

Boys (Labduck and Opie), we need an anti-snake plan.

Congrats to CNY! So impressive...

I hope that ankle heals up fast for you, John.

BAP - that was one fast mile!

Dove - chews up another marathon like it's nothing.

OM - 51 miles, eh? Good for you that you sort of rested today.

6 fairly sproinkless miles this morning in cool drizzle/light rain. It took me about 4 miles to really get going. 8:25 avg pace. I blame it on the full day I spent installing 150 feet of stockade fence. Digging post holes the old-fashioned way, and lugging around 6' tall fence sections is a real workout. Where's the ibu?

Hmmm, Dove, to quote Indiana Jones "Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?"

I don't like snakes. I'm going to hope the reason there were so many rattler sightings this past weekend was because it was so hot in AZ that they were comfortable out on the trail at night. I sure hope so. Maybe it won't be so warm when we're running next month?

Mike, if I dug that many post holes and had to lug that much fencing around, I'd be sore for a week. I'm not ashamed to admit that when I needed to repair a section of my fence last summer, I let Mrs. Labduck "talk" me into hiring it out.

Hi all. I've been slacking for three weeks...snoozed through my run time this morning too... like usual ...but it was such a beautiful day I took my run during lunch break. I was going to do eight miles nice and slow, but I was feeling pretty good running into that cool autumn breeze so I stretched it out to 10. I should slack more often ... by the way don't tell my boss...

Lab, I'm constitutionally incapable of paying for labor that doesn't require specialized skills. Using a level and stringline and a posthole digger doesn't qualify. And even though it cost me a day from the golf course and an afternoon watching the Pats, at least it got me some points with DW.
