Fun little 3-day for me this past weekend. Had to drive up to Grandma's on Thursday to take her to the doctor. Well, now, this is kinda silly as we had to go back up Saturday evening for a tour on Sunday. So son1 and I decided to "go green". Son1 rode up on Thursday to meet me and we stayed overnight. Friday we rode home, logging 85mi. Celebrated son2's 17th birthday. Saturday, we rode back to Grandma's, logging 86mi. Very enjoyable evening visiting with Grandma, two aunts, my cousin and her husband. We decided that since the start was only 2.5mi from Grandma's it was kinda silly to drive, so we all decided to ride from Grandma's.

Being a fall tour, Hancock Hundred has had a history of not so favorable weather--highs in the 90's or cold and rainy, and always with stupid windy conditions. However, this year conditions were perfect. 62* at the start, 75* at the finish, sunny to partly cloudy and NO WINDS! Aunt, cousin and her husband logged 40mi for the day. Son1 and I opted for the fully century. It was a typical tour, with stops longer than usual. It was good to be back on "home turf" and I was able to visit with some of the guys that I rode with back in the 80's. Fun little tour.

Sparty- Liberated is a winning way to look at the decision. Must mean it was the right one.

Weekend recap for me.

Saturday: 20 minutes on the bike then up to Maine for Pumpkinman 1/2 on Sunday

Sunday: Pumpkinman 1/2: 6:29:04 official time. 50 minute PR for me at this distance. I was thrilled as I was practicing my run strategy for IMAZ in November and decided it worked so I'll stick with it. Yay! Bike average was almost at 17 on my Garmin. While the official results show me faster, the course was slightly shorter than 56 and I'm sure they calculated based on a 56 mile route. Swim was awesome. I met my goal when I didn't think I would based on the crowded start conditions and the guy slamming his feet to swim on loop 2 that almost took me out. Overall a good day with lots of teammates out there racing that I got to see on the run course. Turkey dinner afterward was more welcome than I thought it would be.

DOR for me today

3-4 weeks of hell start now before any rest type week again. Tell me again I do this for the journey.)

Time for a few days off for me...feeling a bit beat up after 3 triathlons in 3 weekends. Guess I should get busy writing some race reports, huh?

Greetings tri-peeps. Nice PR MQ!

Strange not doing IMWI this year after 4 in a row. Two of my teammates qualified for Kona, this gives me some good motivation for next year. If they can do it, so can I.

Pool: 1800 continuous tennis ball swim. Meaning I held tennis balls in my hands the entire time. Done as 200free, 100 stroke (alternating breast and back)

Followed by 6 x 50 almost catch up. My hands felt as big as paddles during those 6 x 50s. I have a new coach, so different workouts than I'm use to.

Then 30 minute Z1 run across the street from the pool in a forest preserve. So far so good.

45 mile ride - beach loop. Still not feeling up to snuff (low 17s). Okay for the first 90 mins, then kind of lost steam after that.

Sounds like a great race day, MQ. The Pumpkinman is a very nice course (... and nice extended tour 4BM).

Really nice races and workouts over the weekend. Y'all did very well.

Daily run today. Ran from home over to meet the local running club, did their social run, then ran home. The parts I did on my own were much faster than the club run, but it was a pretty easy effort.

Equipment: Merrell Trail Glove

Warm/low 70s - Cloudy and calm. Ran 2 miles to meet with the SCSRC, did their 3 mile social run, then ran 2 miles home. Easy effort.
