No one else is here, so good morning.

I didn't do much running last week, thanks some to the weather.

Got up at 4:30 this morning. Should be getting light now, but they moved the clocks forward, bastards!

Did 5x5s of squats and weighted pull ups at my highest weights yet this morning. That was good. 5x5 on the military press didn't go so well, the first 2 sets I missed at the new weight and I've decided to go to a deload for that, cut back and work my way back up to this morning's intended weight in 2 weeks. 3x5 of deadlifts at a new weight level, so that went well.

Tomorrow I run.

Some tabata interval sets and an attempt at 60 burpees in under 6 minutes for this evening on tap.

G'morning Scratch! I slept til almost 6:00 this morning. Wow, it's dark out there...

I wrote a race report for my 20k race from yesterday. Here it is.

I'm gonna try to get right back into it today, and maybe do 5-6 easy miles. We'll see what I feel like after work.

Great runs to all today...

So, let me just tell you guys that everything seems to be working against me regarding this first half marathon of mine. First I pull a muscle, then I get bronchitis, and third, I tripped over my dog while running on Saturday. Didn't think anything of it, ran 12.5 miles yesterday and had incredible pain in my left foot, above my big toe, the entire time. Couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong and then last night was touching it, figured out exactly where the pain was, pulled my sock off and that exact spot is entirely black and blue. I'm guessing from the serious pain and the bruising that I fractured my metatarsul. WHAT ELSE CAN GO WRONG??

So, no running for the next 2-3 weeks. At least I can bike and swim. Maybe I'll add swimming to my gym membership. I'm 7 weeks out from my race. I think I'm going to get a custom shirt that lists all the crap I've been through to finish this darn race.

Hey folks - trying to get back in to my running. Pathetic 2 miles this morning. My feet are killing me, and even with two weeks off, my PF is still there. #$%#$. And my feet were killing me - gonna have to shop around for new shoes.

My plan is to build up to 4 miles every other day. I then have weight loss goals - basically every ten pounds I lose, I will up that by a mile. If I can loose 25 pounds and my back is OK, I will start trying to build back up to where I was.

(((Jill)))

~~~~~And good vibes out to Alexis this morning~~~~~~
Oh, no Jill! Big hug your way. After coming back from the bronchitis so well, you can make it through this hiatus and get back in time for the HM. But take care of yourself!!!
I'm not cursed, I'm just a klutz - I fell again while running yesterday. Achy back and shoulder, but other than that I'm fine.
Since I did 4 on Sat and 5 on Sunday, I'm thinking today is crosstraining. I'm not ready to tempt fates with 3 days of running in a row.
In other good news - I heard from my SIL last night; she had mentioned wanting to take up running a few months ago. In January, I suggested she train for a 10k in Annapolis in June and I'd come join her for it. Her first 5k is next week!! I'm psyched to see another runner hooked!
Thinking of Theia today.
Good runs to all!
Jill hopefully it's not fractured.
Good thoughts to Theia today.
Planning on running after work tonight - if I can find where I packed my running clothes.
Litch - sounds like a great plan, sucks that you aren't going to be up for the HM this spring.
Noni if you don't quit falling we're going to have to start calling you Crane.
Good Morning!
I have no idea what I'm doing today, I need to make a plan for this week. I should get out the door fairly soon, summer has arrived and I need to start running earlier...now, if I just knew what I was doing. I guess the earlier running will have to begin tomorrow.
This weekend was pretty solid, a good race in difficult conditions-report if anyone missed it. I learned so much and have really been thinking about over the last 24 hours. It's amazing how much we learn when we race! I've also been having fun watching all kinds of interviews of the race on RunnerSpace.com and reading all the arguing about it on LetsRun (that place is nuts and full of posers, but interesting).
I hope everyone has great runs today!
Pacer, how are the legs feeling after that much mileage on the TM? I don't think I've gone much over 18, but now I've become even more afraid of hills from this past weekend so I guess I'll be spending a couple of my weekly run on it working with the incline.
(((Jill))) You have had usch obstacles training for this HM. Heal quickly.
Thinking of you Theia.
That sounds like a good plan Tim.
Noni glad you didn't hurt yourself. Great job with your SIL.
KP you mean you're not completely unpacked yet!
Well, yoga plans are out the window. DD1 is claiming she is too sick to go to school. I think she just has cold and needs to deal, but I am letting her stay home and rest today. It is going to be a long day...
I do have pilates at my house today. I'll have to jump on the TM at some point today.
Good morning, everyone!
I wanted to thank you guys for all the hugs and compliments and pms of support. I really appreciate all of you. I was feeling so down on saturday. Embarrassed, too. But as always, you made me feel better and very accepted. I'm very glad I found this group.
Hey all:
Easy run on tap for this afternoon, then some brief 5k pace work. I'll be doing a little of that every day this week trying to get that pace in my head for Saturday.
Jill - Argh! Are you going to get it xrayed? Not that there's anything they can do for a toe... Good luck.
Again, nice races this weekend Theia, Jen, Bob, & Nettie!
Theia - thinking of you today
Later all.
Oh, and my fridge is fixed. Happy day.
Morning Gang -
Some great races this weekend. Just about everyone got a PR! Congrats to all.
Jill - that sucks!! Hopefully your toe gets better quickly so you can get back to it.
I was sore and exhausted last night after my 12 miles yesterday (which had speedwork in it). Went to bed at 9:00 and zonked out immediately until 5:30 this a.m. Felt super good to sleep. A bit sore today. Weights and cardio on lunch hour. Step back week this week - it is nice to just have 3 and 4 mile runs on the schedule!
Oh - I need a strategy for my 10 mile race on Saturday. Any ideas? My previous PR was 1:22:57. I think I could get under 1:20:00. So I was thinking just looking at my watch and trying to keep every mile under 8:00 pace. OR, going out faster for first mile or two and then trying to keep under 8:00 for middle miles? Ideas?
Good runs to all!
First off, awesome job this weekend Theia You found your silver lining to this week, thoughts sent out to ya today.
Congrats on your PR boB Nice report, even if your fingers were too cold to get bobcam shots!
(((Jill))) Girl you are due a change of pace there. Hope it happens soon. Hang in there.
Litch good luck with your weight loss goals.
Noni Good luck to your SIL
Voo How are ya feelin'?
Just ended week one of my training for Madison on a good running note. Schedule called for 5 miles yesterday- the start of building my long run each week- and I did 5.5 before I knew it. I chose to run at LSU starting at the lakes and made my way into campus a bit. I think I'll head to LSU on Sundays from now on. I enjoyed it very much.
Good runs/workouts to all.
Morning All!
I am miserably behind in the thread. Popping in for VRAA stuff and ocassional PRT scan. I did manage to catch up with most of the weekend run thread.
Clare hugs for you, kid. I live in a town where I don't fit and I get that. I'm pretty much he slowest runner in my group (except for a guy about 75) so I get that too. I don't know about post pardom stuff, but I know last year damn near killed me. You are taking action to get your life where you want. That is so much more than most folks. Lotta folks are just unhappy and wonder why. So with all that I don't have any advice besides keep at it and i'm totally thinking about you.
Voo. Oh my gosh, dude. I can't tell you how sorry I am. That news actually almost made me tear up. Also kind of made me feel like an asshole for inviting you to a race without checking the thread. Good vibes all over the place from the Roo house for you.
Ali missed the news about Maggie. Shit. Loads and loads of luvin from Hank and I for you. How's your other pup doing?
Pacer I officially have no bitch with 7 on the mill (even though it took me an hour and a half).
ok. so i've been keeping up with running. other stuff is nuts though. Got a snow day today which is helpful. need to go through copy editor's revisions on my chapter 1 and works cited page. advisor is being totally unhelpful. "sounds good, check with graduate school." um, thanks.
also had a bit of a flood in my basement. so we have to rip out all the carpet. it'll have to stay cement floors for awhile since we don't have the jack to recarpet yet. but it could have been WAY worse. nothing but carpet was ruined. if our hot water tank hadn't died (long week at the Roo house) we wouldn't have known the sump pump went out so really i'm pretty thankful....btw Bard we're moving shindig on Saturday to another location....details to follow....
Good Morning all.
I really dislike losing an hour of sleep! Anyhow, looks like I need to go back and read some of the race reports from the weekend.
Litch- I am doing the same thing as you right now, concentrating on losing weight, then will resume into running/racing. I just need to get my body healthy and I think it's the extra weight that is the culprit.
