Good morning, folks. Happy Presidents Day. Even though I have to work...

I guess I'm jumping back into it today. There wasn't much running in the week after the marathon, but I'll get back to it today with 9ish miles, I hope. It should be warm, so I'll probably do those miles outside. We'll see.

Also, fort hose who may have missed it over the weekend, I finally posted my Race Report from the Mercedes Marathon. Here's a link. Better late than never, I hope...

Good runs to all today...

I WILL run today. If for no other reason than it's 55F at 7am here. How can I NOT go today?

Hey all:

Thanks for all the good wishes - DW is doing ok. Doc wants to see her today for a tetanus booster and to take a look. The bite is bruising and she's pretty sore. I went over to talk to the neighbor. It's tough. They just moved in this year and I don't want to be enemies for life here, but the dog is a problem. I guess the chat went OK and I had him go to his vet for me and drop off a shot record last night. At least it's up to date.

It's raining pretty good here right now, I haven't looked to see if that's going to go all day. But today is just recovery, so maybe and easy 45 minutes.

Good runs today everybody.

morning - 6 on tap for tonight and it'll be cold. boo...aren't we done with this winter season yet? blah

DH and I signed up for a new gym yesterday and I went to the yoga class. It is not a traditional yoga class and the instruction was really fast so I was a bit lost and darn tired at the end. they basically had us do burpees....full plank, jump into a squat, jump down to all fours, jump into a plank, downward dog, plank, hover, sphinx, plank, all over again...jeesh. My arms are tired today!

I wouldn't consider doing the full unless I lived down here, it's only been around for three years and they are still working out some problems and there really isn't any crowd support or a lot of other runners. The heat is always a concern down here it can be anywhere from the low 60's to the high 80's. The good things are that the course is pretty and really fast if the weather/wind cooperates. If I had to choose between Palm Beach/Miami/A1A I would pick Miami as the nicest course/race/crowds overall.

PTom, I hope your wife is doing okay. That can be scary, one of the better runners down here was bit a couple of weeks ago and she hasn't been able to race at all. Things like that are always difficult with neighbors, I hope they were crazy apologetic and very embarrassed.

I've got some recovery miles to get in today, nothing too exciting. I'm not sore at all from the race. I actually feel better than after my "hill work" last week. I'm usually more tired after a Sunday long run than I am today, so that's good.

I hope everyone has some nice runs today!

I am supposed to run today. Don't know that I will, though. I have some friends driving through town and we are having dinner together.

Tom that just sucks. All the way around. That dog is going to wind up having to be put down eventually because his people don't take care of him. Grf.

I am shocked however that Duck got salty with someone (not that you weren't justified). Makes me feel a little better about telling my crazy backyard neighbor to get her f*cking chicken out of my yard.

Brandy I thought it was just my high school weight training coach called them burpees... ha!

back to back 5ers saturday and sunday. rest day today. Yay! Going to try to get in piltates.

Sorry about the dog attack, PT. I've been nipped by two dogs on my runs and both have been leashed.

4 yesterday, 3 this morning. Abs class and weights later this AM.

That's funny about the yoga, Brandy. I took a class Friday where we started in plank. That was our rest position. Resting in plank is....not so restful.

So here's our neighbor-dog story (in which we played the villian):

We'd been in our house maybe 2-3 weeks and I was playing fetch in our front yard with our lab, Chesapeake (or The Dude, as he was sometimes called). Now, we didn't have an Invisible Fence installed and he has been known to go towards other dogs to play, I could usually call him back before he got there, and he was never threatening to anyone or any other dog. Anyway, our neighbors across the street had their little dog (Shih-Tzu) on a leash tied to a stake in the ground and the Dude decides to go over and say hi. For whatever reason, I couldn't get him to come back and he starts bounding around trying to get this dog to play with him as I'm running over to get him back, apologizing to our neighbor as I went. Somehow, The Dude's rear leg caught caught and twisted in the other dog's choke chain and it took a few panicked minutes to get them unhooked and their dog nearly passed out. I felt horrible (obviously) and apologized profusely after introducing myself.

So clearly we were in the wrong - I got that and let them know how sorry I was. We made a little "Get Well Soon" kit with dog biscuits and a card and everything and brought that over to them, and The Dude never bothered them again. I think the next time that family acknowledged us in any way whatsoever was when we were both invited to a party at another house about 7 years later! So thats how we met our new neighbors.

I'm off for Prez's Day - woo-frickin'-hoo! Got some errands to run but hopefully can manage 8-10 on the TM. Only 9 weeks and 75 minutes till Boston - I gotta get my arse in gear! Luckily in two weeks there are some races to choose from around here...this will be perfect, one more 20 miler, then 4-5 weeks of speedspeedspeed, another 20+ miler (possibly Athens) and I'll be raring to go. Lance needs to chance his name to No Chance!!!

Yoga sounds painful. My body does not go like that.

Waiting til DH gets home from cabin to watch the kids then I'll try to run outside. Nasty windy here today though. It says -20 windchill right now. Not gonna be fun.

Dog story: A couple months ago I was running in neighborhood about a mile from mine. Early - about 5:30 a.m. I hear running coming up behind me really fast. Thought it was someone running to attack me b/c it sounded so scary. It was a big flippin dog - not sure what kind. Big. I stop in my tracks and shield myself with my arms huddled around me as I hear his owner - about 2 blocks away - yelling "Chico, Chico, come". Chico not listening to owner. At all. So owner - a guy about 50 starts fast walking over towards Chico and me, with his coffee mug in his hand. Took him FOREVER to get over to me to rescue me from him flippin dog, but he couldn't run because he didn't want to spill his coffee! So not only does he not have a leash for his dog that doesn't listen, but he has a mug of hot coffee that is a bigger priority than preventing his dog from attacking people. Dick head.

morning

Day off for me, which is a good thing 'cause my head is still clogged. ugh. It's warm today, though (sorry RFTL and others in the cold) so I'll go for an off-from-running day walk later and probably do some weights at the gym. Once I peel myself off this big, chunky, comfy chair in my living room, that is...
