Hola!

Yoga Monday for this girl, and my standard longer-ish walk to and from work. It's all good...

Turkey Trotted with the parents on Thursday....just walked with them and a friend, but I really wish I would have at least tried to run some. It made me realize how much I've missed running! Perhaps this is the jolt I needed.

I'll go start the other thread if it hasn't been already. Good runs and workouts peeps!

Good morning Ann, and all who follow. Sleaszy 2.5 this morning. Was going to run a 5 K on Sunday, but now, apparently not.

Morning Gang -

Hi Ann and Litch.

Bummer on the 5k cancellation Litch.

Thanks for the info boB. If you lose your day job, don't apply for the Arkansas tourism board.

Mindi - how was day 1 of Eugene training?!?

I got 7 miles done. Roads were clear (snow coming tomorrow) and I felt great, so I did them at MP. Good start to the day.

Today should be interesting. I'm being volunteer lawyer/table challenger for the governor recount that starts today. Probably gonna be a long day.

Good runs to all.

Hola. I was a bit of a bum this weekend. No run Fri (rest day after the HM). 3m on Sat. Bi/Tri work yesterday. Planned a run too, but the combo of the couch monster + the toasty heat from the wood burning stove put me into zzzz land for a while. Ahh well. Core + spinning tonight. Time to get back to the grind.

I was a bit of a bum this weekend too. I got in 12.25 miles on Saturday, but I took off both Friday and Sunday, even though I meant to do a short run each day. At least I did finish up my insulation project in the attic. Well, at least the first layer. I may decide to add a second layer of insulation to bring it up to the recommended standards. But that'll be infinitely easier than the first layer was...

Heh. Yeah, I guess that PM didn't give you the most flattering picture of Arkansas. But keep in mind, I haven't actually done the race yet. Who knows, it may turn out to be a blast. I'm just not expecting much out of it...

I'll run today after work. Probably some short speed work...

Litch that's too bad about the 5k. It's tough trying to organize runs. There's a lot of hoops one has to jump through. When I organized the Mother's Day run earlier this year, I found that out first hand. First I had to have insurance. That was an expense in itself. Then I had to get permission from the police, even though I wasn't planning on shutting any streets down. I made sure my route didn't require that, otherwise, it likely wouldn't have happened. Then there was getting volunteers to help out. It was worth it, though. I managed to get a business who is willing to cover the insurance cost next year. And lots of people came out and had fun.

Didn't run again this morning, even though I laid out all my clothes and stuff last night. My mojo is missing and I cannot find it. *sigh*

5.4 miles this morning. Didn't run a single step while in Cincy (too much other stuff) so I'm glad to be back out there this morning.

I will be registering for a HM Wednesday (Bayshore, in Traverse City if anyone wants to join us).

Sucks about the 5k Litch...seems like the community/businesses are totally against this guy.

sigh - I am cranky. My back is still killing me. Not sure at what point I should be worried about it. For right now, anything that requires me using that oblique muscle on the left side is nearly impossible (watching me try to get up from laying on my side is a hoot) and I continually am getting what I would liken to cramps/shooting pains when I turn. boo. On top of that, I think my legs are plotting against me. My heels and achilles are flaring up mega style and now my knees are sore too. So, I am taking this whole week off. - I am hoping that using the bike trainer is ok. I'll test that out tonight.

There is some background here too. The organizer was the head of the local chamber of commerce, then he moved his business (the LRS) and completely bashed the town (residents and local businesses) on his way out.

He did move the store to another town, and was out of business in 6 months.

Biggest thing that sucks about it is that it was the race for a local GOTR.

Got in a brief walk interspersed with fartleks of running yesterday - maybe 1.5 miles. Whatever blahness I had with running is starting to dissipate - I wanna' get out there again, but I gotta' get my calf in working order before that happens (it really didn't appreciate that I did ANY running yesterday after my mini-jaunt.)

Ugh, Litch, that sucks - sounds like the guy burned his bridges though and unfortunately a good cause is kinda' caught in the wake.

Good runs, workouts, healing vibes, and/or rest days to you all

Hey Guys!

Bummer, Litch.

Brandy, I hope you feel better!

Mindi, SURE, go to Eugene this year! Who knows, maybe we'll be out there with BABs? (I doubt we'll start our summer trip too early and we have no idea where we'll start out, but you never know!)

I had a crap week of running last week. I had to stop at 5.5 on Wednesday, took Thursday off, and eased back into it over the rest of the week. Ran 10 yesterday and my entire right leg, upper hammy to calf to foot was either stiff, painful, or numb depending on the area. OMG.

Oddly, today I ran 7 and felt a whole lot better just a touch of pain in the back of my hammy and still numbness around the outer front calf that was just uncomfortable but not horrible. I have an appointment with a spine surgeon in a couple of weeks, we'll see if he has any insight to all of this. I can't continue to live like this, though, it's too much.

Waiting on a cold front to come through late Thursday here! I have zero chance of MrJenRuns putting up lights in this heat, haha.

Chiro appmt this morning. He said as long as I don't go crazy it should be good for me. So I might try for a whopping 6 miles on the tm later. Maybe. Evening is not my best time to run.

Morning all! I feel like such a lump of crap this morning... my long weekend of snacking and eating leftovers has caught up to me. Ugh. Yoga is on tap for tonight, gotta sweat & twist out some toxins and then a strong run is planned for the morning along with tightening up what goes into my mouth and making better use of my time. We'll have visitors in town starting in a week and a half and I have a million things to do at work, around the apt and in prep for our trip to OBX over the holidays. Need to stay on top of stuffs.

Mindi – yay for Eugene! I want to run that race too but I’m not sure if a spring marathon is in the cards for me.

(((Brandy & Jen)))

Yay Kath!!!!

Missy - any chance we can get together for a run along the Bronx River Parkway this week/weekend???

yeah Kath!!!

Maria - I need to get back to yoga class too. The lack of running has managed to make me less bendy than usual. Whatever.

Eugene - might tentatively be on my radar for next year too. Need to see if I could get a pass from the wife.

Made my return to running yesterday evening by busting out 3 miles on the track with my 10yo DD. She's ready for her first 5K this saturday morning and the DR gave me the all clear to run and gradually build up mileage. My foot didn't hurt, but I was way too much tuned into what it felt like on every single step. I'm going to run a few tonight and try to forget about the foot thing. It's cold and rainy here. Figures.

Yay, Kath!!!

Sorry to hear about your continued aches, Brandy and Jen :(

Cool stuff about your daughter's 5k, Timr! I know what you mean about being too tuned in to the foot. I've been that way about my calf for weeks.

Maria and Ann - I'll meet you at the yoga studio tonight! My class is in less than an hour. Really, really like the instructor of the first two classes at this new place, but tonight I'm trying someone new just to see if I like her too, so I have options :)

it's amazing how fast you can fall out of a routine and get swallowed up by work. i brought my workout stuff in with me but never made it away from my ass-flattening chair.

i think i need to inflate my fitness ball and use that as my seat from now on. maybe i can burn 10 more calories while sitting here.

okay, this is day 1 of no chocolate for me until christmas. must.resist.

damn i love chocolate.

brandy, sheesh. hope you're feeling better. sounds like a lot of things to ice.

kath - run one for me! great news

jen, yep, you're too young for all of that hurting. hope you can figure it out soon.

litch, just goes to show him that lots of people may forget a nice guy but no one forgets an a-hole. unless you're in pro sports, i never understood the perceived value in burning bridges.

rftl - is that a manual recount of votes? ugh.

my shoulders/upper back are good and achy from hauling/spitting/cutting/raking/etc this weekend.

good runnin/bikin/swimmin/yoga'in all.

cheers

I used to be a chocolate fiend & owned a tshirt that said Hand over the chocolate and no one will get hurt.

Haven't had any chocolate (or any other candy, for that matter) in over 7 years now, so it was rather pointless keeping it and went to GoodWill.

Your mile will have to happen tomorrow. Rather feel like I've been run over by a truck this afternoon (squishing muscles/tendons/joints back into place will do that), so just walked Gus a few miles.
