It is actually a rest day for me.

TCM is right around the corner. I hope all of our TCM folks are starting to feel rested and fired up!

Can't wait to hear from Tonya about the 3-Day.

I often go a little nuts during the taper, but I feel fine this time. I took yesterday off and wasn't really itching to run, like I often am during the taper. I'll do a few miles today, and that should keep me from getting antsy...

I checked the weather for the weekend in Minneapolis. Sunday is supposed to be sunny, low of 47, high of 60. So I'd figure low 50s for most of the race. That sounds nice...

Good morning. I had decent runs this weekend. 4 mile progression run Thursday evening, 5.5 miles of intervals on the track Friday (the dreaded ladder workout, my least favorite), and 7.5 sleezy miles yesterday. I hired IronEx as my official coach, and I'm already convinced he's trying to kill me. Run again tonight, but I don't yet know how far or how fast. Ay yi yi.

Hope everyone's doing well!

3 super sleasy miles this morning. Surprisingly my legs are a bit sore from yesterday (must have been the hills).

re: Tonya - she might post from her iPhone, but she won't be back in GR until almost 10 pm. So you'll have another day for the full gory details!

Happy Taper vibes to the TCM crew!

Good work this weekend. Glad to see some returning mojo

As for me, back/tris/abs with Little Miss Evil this morning. I'm registered for a 5K this weekend. I'm not sure what to expect. Just trying to set a solid baseline, I guess.

morning

Yes, the weather is looking oh so perfect for TCM. I am so excited for a start in the 40s! Make it overcast and you got my kind of weather.

So yesterday I intended to run 9 but only did 10. I have forgotten to reset my watch from Saturday. When I realized this, I assumed that it had lapped as it normally does (every mile). I had done 5 on Saturday so when I clicked over on lap 15, I stopped thinking I got my 10 in.

I didn't realize until I loaded it up on Running ahead that I had shut my watch off while i was watching the 5k so it actually had 6 laps for the 5 miles. oh well. No biggie.

I ended up banditting the 10 miler yesterday. I ran 4 miles with a friend pacing the 11min group and 4 miles with another friend doing the 9:30 group. The 9:30 one is running TCM 10 miler next weekend as well and we might run together. The 9:30 pace felt easy even on the hills so it gave me a bit of a confidence boost especially since my shins didn't bother me!

RIL - you are FAST wow!!

great job Tonya!

Greetings, all. 2/3 of my core is done for the day, and I got upper body stuff out of the way yesterday. Pull ups/drop downs + spinning later this evening. The legs are still a little beat up from last week, but I'm hopping back in the saddle, as I don't want to rest too much. My next HM is only 34 days away!

Morning. Another solid weekend of running. Did a little 5k on Saturday. Went hard, but not too hard. Placed in my age group and won a gift card. There was a lot of fast guys there, so I was rather pleased.

Yesterday did an 18.5 mile long run. With five thrown in towards the end at marathon pace. Nailed it. Last mile mile was 6:45. Rather pleased with the effort. It's nice to be feeling in the groove again in the fall weather.

Really looking forward to this weekend. Should be perfect weather.
Rest day for me today. I'm feeling good and super excited to run TCM this weekend!

What are you trying to run?

#13 ·

Good morning all. No running for me this weekend Never made the time (see fun thread). I was debating between a 5.5 mile loop and an 8 mile loop. May try and get something in later.

I went to a podiatrist this AM about my toe. Looked at it, felt it, bent it back and forth (OUCH - that is why I was there - it hurts). So he thinks there was some "trauma" to my foot - not the broken toe form August, because this bump on my foot has been there long before that, and was hurting before that, just not as much as it is now. Anyway, it feels soft, he figures there is a fluid sac or cyst in there. Takes a few xrays, comes back in with them, and says he has no idea what it is. It is not fluid - there is a bone\cartilidge\connective tissue thing in there. I need an MRI to figure out, and see what to do about it. So, I am now waiting on insurance to pre-approve the MRI.

He did say that it is not a stress fracture or anything like that, and as long as it was not causing me pain, that I could keep running.

Main goal this time: fun. But, time-wise I'll still go out at BQ pace and see what that feels like (3:45:xx) and see if I can hang on. Added bonus this year is I'm older, so 3:50:xx would qualify me for 2012. I have no idea if I'm in that kind of shape this time, so at any point I could just completely switch to survival/fun mode.

Morning all! Woke up early but got sucked into a work issue and then cleaning up the apt, run to happen tonight.

Brandy - your post confused me, did you run 9 or 10? " class="bbcode_smiley" height="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies//biggrin.gif" title="" width="" />

Very excited for all the TCM peeps!!!!!!

Fun: running a 5K this weekend (Miles for Midwives) with Missy and Allie in attendance!!!

Well done, weekend racers - Tonya, Baggs, RIL, Brandy, Maria

BigG - I was walloped with a cold the week leading into MCM in '08 and could barely eat the few days leading into the race. I never had lunch the day before and my dinner was some chicken noodle soup and rice. Still, while (because?) I wasn't racing it, I ran my best 26.2 there (not my best time, but I enjoyed that race and felt good the whole way through).

I'm in need of some super-powered sunshine these days. I've hit my tolerance wall with this no-running stuff.

No, seriously. THE WALL.

Amy, I'm also running (term used loosely) a 5K this weekend. No idea what to expect either.

I haven't been around here much lately...until i saw boB a few weekends ago, I had no idea people were meeting up in MSP!

Tonya- I can't wait to hear how it went. Thank you for doing the breast cancer walk, one of the receptionists in our office is currently battling the disease.

Ugh, not me. I didn't know it until a couple days later, but I think I ran the NYC Marathon last year with the flu. During the race, I couldn't figure out why I kept fading and fading. And then right after the race ended while I was in the humongous line of runners shuffling thru the finish corral, I felt like I was going to puke. That was one of the most unpleasant racing experiences that I've ever had...

But, uh, I'm sure you'll be fine, BigG...

You're in Corral A, right? (Or whatever the name is for the one you need to qualify for). We went over this a while ago in the TCM thread, I think. I'm just too lazy to look it up.

I'm also planning on going for a 3:45, which would be a PR for me (although nowhere close to a BQ). I think I've trained well, and if the weather is nice, I'll hopefully have a shot. I've now run more marathons since my PR than I did before it. In these last 2.5 years, I suppose I could use various excuses for that, such as a broken ankle, a bout of swine flu, the diagnosis of my epilepsy, some nasty weather, and a couple of really hard marathon courses. I don't think I'll have any of those excuses this time. So if I can't get the PR, I might as well give up trying...

Hey kids,

My exercise has consisted of moving our boxes of stuff from house to house, and we took SIL and BIL hiking up a mountain yesterday. I carried Claire on my shoulders about 90% of the way up for extra points.

The only nice thing about not running for a while is that my leg muscles are completely pain and fatigue free for the first time in a long while.
