Morning Gang -

Tonya - you deserve the day off! Fabulous tri this weekend. And big shout out to Theia on her tri too. You people who do tri's are so impressive to me.

No running for me today. Will try to do some type of cross training later.

MN Peeps: Anyone going to Gear West to hear Christopher McDougal (Born to Run) talk on Wednesday? Did you also see that you can go to The Bookstore in Wayzata at 5:00 and run with him over to Gear West? Barefoot optional.

Good runs and rests to all today.

Rest day for me. I put in a hilly 11 yesterday, so I am walking like a geriatric today.

Wonderful racing and running this weekend. Theia and Tonya on their tris, and all of the TCM folks putting down their last mines before taper time.

3 easy miles this morning. Perfect weather. Reminds me again why I love fall. Stuff at work should be less hectic this week which will make me less frazzled and frayed around the edges.

Congrats to Ailarie and Clare for their PRs, and a great big WOOT! to Tonya for her tri as well.

RIL - I'm sorry the race didn't go as you'd hoped. Really. One of the great things about this group is that we all get to celebrate victories, but we all totally get it when a race or run doesn't go as designed... ((()))

Thanks GoV and everyone else that sent out crap race hugs! You guys are the best.

In a sense it is nice to allow myself to let this season go. I think I've known for quite a while that I needed to, but have been resisting it. I like to think it is due to my unflailing optimism, but readily admit there is a lot of stubbornness mixed in. :)

Cindi - like the new blog! I'll have to bookmark it when I get home.

Rest day for me, but I'll goof around a bit tonight with my GOTR girls, which is always fun.

Missed Ironman Wisconsin last night because I was just in a crap mood and frankly didn't want to go down there. But a bunch of my friends did awesome. Tris also really amaze me.

Have a lot to do today and am feeling a wee bit stressed about it, so I guess I better get off the boards and get to it! :)

After my run I walked Gus a couple. Remember that guy who said I had big thigh muscles a couple weeks ago? He is installing gutters on a house around the corner. He was out this morning when we walked past, and did a wolf whistle. Which made Gus growl. He stopped whistling. Heh.

Congrats again to everyone on their great races and runs this weekend!! And more ((( )))) to those who didn't have as good a weekend running.

20 Days until TCM! I feel really good today. Legs are a little tired but not sore. And I slept 10 SOLID hours last night. No foot cramps, no restless legs, no waking up for any reason at all. It. Was. Spectacular!!! I did wear my compression socks from after our run until I went to bed last night, I think helps with not only recovery but the foot cramps that have been plaguing me as well as the restless legs. I fully expected my feet to feel crunchy when I set foot out of bed this morning, but I didn't have that EITHER. Surprising because that's what hurt after our run yesterday. Walked the mile into work feeling good good good. So now it's taper time. Really weird to think that I only have long runs of 12 and an 8 miles left to run before race day.

THANK YOU Crane for hostessing the 20 miler, plotting out the route and making the plans. And please extend my thanks again to T for letting me shower up at her place. She was super fun and I had a blast running with youse guys!!

Also, thank you Mother Nature and Aunt Flo for waiting until the day after my 20 miler to deliver my monthly bill.

Alexis - I can really relate to the swim crazies! I was swum/hit/grabbed over half a dozen times and was having a minor breathing issue in the first 100-200 meters. I stopped and held onto an inner tube for a moment until I could get my breathing under control. Some of it was the water - 66 is COLD - and some was the adrenaline. Either way it is scary!!

Mindi - It sounds like you have a healthy grasp on what you need right now... good for you!

Awful, isn't it?? I've been kicked, punched in the head, elbowed, scratched, etc before. Not a big deal. This person was grabbing my leg and pulling me... as though trying to propel him/herself forward almost. I just couldn't get into a rhythm at. all. once that happened. Scary stuff. Did you wear a wetsuit this time?? I was thinking about you on Saturday. :)

OK, total weirdness. Results are up. I was third in my age group. But they announced me as first place -- twice! -- and gave me the medal to prove it! I checked overall results, and the third woman overall was in my AG. OK, so that explains one. But the other was 9th overall.

And my official swim time (including the time I spent hanging on for dear life) is 31:xx. For 6/10 of a mile! Pathetic!!

So glad you had a great sleep, BG!

Thanks to everyone who had nice things to say about my 10k the other day! I'm still very happy about my results! But just to clarify, I didn't push the stroller this time around. I did the first time I ever did that course (my time was 1:14...funny!) so I knew what to expect with all the hills. This time it didn't feel as tough!

I didn't run yet. I did bring my gear with me to run at lunch. I have no excuse not to, really. Just that I'd rather eat my lunch.

I was afraid my story would dissuade someone from ever tri-ing one (haha). Don't be afraid. I've done, what?, at least 8 tris now, and this is the first time I've ever had a problem like that. If you start away from the pack, you're generally OK. I promise!

No, no wetsuit. I just couldn't handle the neck issues again. But I want to get a swim skin...

It's leftovers from supper last night...steamed green beans, whipped potatoes and roast beef. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. I know if I run it'd taste even better, but man, it's hard to make that first move to get off my butt and out the door!

Morning all! Another fantastic weekend of race results, long runs, double digit stuff and TRIs!!! Very proud of everyone! I'm facing a jam-packed couple of days prior to leaving for New Hampshire and Reach the Beach including having mom in town for dinner tomorrow night and getting all my crap together for the relay. Busting out some miles tonight and a bit of yoga as my piriformis is barking a bit since Saturday's run. I can't tell you how much my mood and attitude towards running has improved with the cooler temps, it's like I'm a renewed person. Thank you mother nature!

Mindi - I can related to this 100%!!! It's hard to admit that it is OK to let it go but really it is... and who knows, when you least expect it you may bust out a super sweet race in that time!

Litch - way to knock out that double digit run!!!

Yay for having such a great supporter in Sage!! I'm jealous.

Big G & Melis - are you two planning to run TCM together?

boB - how are your legs since Sat post-run? Still crampy at all?

Morning.

Tough weekend of running for me. I attempted the Moose Mountain Marathon on Saturday. It's a trail run up on the Superior hiking trail. It stormed bad the night before and the already super rock and rooty trails were covered by ankle deep mud and water. Needless to say, I'm not a trail runner. I turned my ankles at least a dozen times and fell four times. Made it 19 miles. That was enough. Here's a report if anyone's interested:

TCM: Well I think I'm pacing some people for a 3:40 marathon. I can't wait.

No cramps since Saturday. But the legs are still feeling sore today. I'm gonna head out for some miles today, but I have no idea how many. I'll probably just head out and see how far I can go...
