Well, not actually a run day for me. Monday is always my rest day. Last week was a cut-back week, but I had lots of high quality miles. Getting ready to boost up the mileage this week --> starting tomorrow.

Nice work on that 20 miler Cindi!

Thanks for the comments on the 20 miler. I'm happy to be done with it! I was feeling dehydrated and a bit feverish last night, but feel fine this morning. Biking and weights later today.

MN Peeps - who's doing what for the Winter Carnival races on Saturday? Online registration closes tomorrow night. Weather looks ok, so I signed up for the HM and will run 4 miles before it to make it my LR. I'm heading out of town so will need to take off right after the race, but hopefully will be able to see some peeps before it.

RFTL - what do you do for biking? Do you have a trainer or do you do a stationary bike at the gym? Also, I meant to ask you where you were hitting the TM? Did you get a new TM or a gym membership?

I am thinking about getting a trainer so I can hop on my bike more. I have a beautiful bike and frankly I don't ride it enough even in good weather. I think it would do my hammies a world of good to get some time on it each week - even if just 30 minutes.

morning peeps.

My return to fitness this weekend included ice skating yesterday and my first flamenco class which was WAY harder than I expected! Not technique-wise, more that the way you hold your body is different and foreign. My core and arms were a bit sore and achy yesterday. I also didn't expect it to be very aerobic (in the beginner level) but it was.

My plans to start running again today were stymied by the -15F I saw this morning. I'm trying to do something for 30-60 mins at least 5 days a week, so I'll skip tonight probably. I might try to get in a walk at lunch though.

Incredible running this weekend, peeps. As always, I'm in awe!

Good Morning everyone!

Have a nice short run on tap for today which is good since it was -4 when I took Avery to the bus. Tonight I'm headed down to DC so I will be hitting the fitness center at the hotel until Thursday. I am going to do some of the TM workouts that were on runners world to drive away the boredom.

Dh "slept in" today. Which means I didn't sleep much past 2am. Maybe I'll have the brain power for a run later. For sure don't have it right now.

I don't have a bike or TM. I use the stationary bike and TM at the gym. I've always had a gym membership, but mostly just use it for weights and "non-sweaty" things, because it's right by my work (30 minutes from my house, so I don't use it on weekends) so I usually only use it on my lunch hour (and I can't sweat too much b/c then I look like hell for court/clients). But, lately I've been adjusting my work schedule and doing the TM runs at the end of a work day so that I can sweat as much as I want and then go straight home.

Morning all! Purposefully pushed my run to this evening, it will get a bit warmer from our current COLD and I want to take advantage of the extra 10* or so.

Cindi - not sure on this weekend. I might be out of town. If not, I might do the 10K. It is supposed to get cold again on Saturday. Boo.

This weekend went fine running wise. I did 10 miles yesterday with the first 8.4 with Nettie...during which I did not try to kill her :)

It was cold but not horrible (I dunno -15 or so). It was fun to see the other runners go by (and there were a ton of them) and their assorted levels of frostiness.

Lifting last night was a bear - I had to do a workout the trainer called "Shoulders of Death". YIKES. Then that was followed by 3 in a row on legs, leg press (20 reps at a slightly heavier weight), Leg exension, way freaking heavy 50% hold for 45 seconds followed by 5 reps (they lessened the weight for the reps), then 20 ball squats.

Greetings, all.

Rest day, glorious rest day for me! (Core is already out of the way.) Yesterday I got stated on tree removal services. My guinea pig tree was around 35 feet high. Let's say that I have a totally new understanding and respect for people that chop trees and firewood. Yeowch! I'm lucky in that I'm only trying to take down the baby pines, and lucky in that my neighbor is very happy for me to drag the pieces to his place for his goats. Apparently pine needles and pine bark are a winter delicacy for the beasties, and provide them with much-needed roughage this time of the year. He''ll burn whatever the goats don't eat, so it's a win-win for everyone.

Egads, the areas right below my shoulder blades is VERY noticeable now. Oof! It's a good oof, but still an oof, nonetheless!

jeez, I brought my gym duds but it's 18 degrees out right now! Heat wave!! I'm thinking about waiting til after work to run outside. Whee! Outside!!!!

I'm a bit sore from the weekend workouts, I'm not sure which day did more damage - the Cable Strength day or the Yoga 2 day, but I'm definitely feeling my shoulders and my hipbutt area today. Right hip more so than the left, but it's not really painful, so I'm thinking maybe that POP was more like a good chiropractor release kind of pop and not an omigod-I-just-dislocated-my-hip pop.

I'd like to be able to attend more classes during the week but they're all held downtown and it takes 15 minutes to get there and if you want in on a class you kind of have to be there 15 minutes before the class starts to 'claim your spot'. So lunch hour classes aren't going to work - I'd end up taking a 2 hour lunch! I might try to get in an after work class and see how that goes. After work is so busy, though apparently some days are busier than others. I was told Monday's are the worst since everyone's feeling guilty about their weekend food and fitness sins and are trying to make up for it. heh.

I weighed in after my decadent dinner on Thursday (THE HORROR) and weighed in this morning to see an 8 pound loss. I know it's skewed but it didn't stop me from doing a tiny happy dance.

My run today sucked but at least its done. The temperature was fine and I was dressed right but my calves were like rocks and chin pain... I think I am better when I don't miss a day, even if it means just doing a 1 miler or something.

I'm looking into this fitness center to make sure I don't miss any running days during snow, etc : http://www.steelfitnessclub.com/

Great job on the weight loss BigG! Throw some my way!

I went to yoga Thursday after work. Class was deceptively hard. It felt fine (a little challenging but certainly not the hardest class I've taken), but by Friday afternoon my obliques were so sore I could barely take a deep breath! I loved it.

My 3.2 miles in boot camp this morning were the first miles I've run since last Monday's class. It was that kind of week.

Hi all - well, between my home computer being essentially a paperweight at the moment and with us being short-staffed at work, my time for posting will be somewhat limited.

Had a relatively productive weekend fitness wise: 3 mi (+ 2.75 mi walking) plus 50 min of yoga on Fri /6.5 mi Sat/3.3 mi running plus 1 hour of strength training on Sun.

Today will be the walking I get going to/from the ferry building plus yoga.

Ugh. I can't stand when someone gets in the pool and their cologne seeps off their body and into the water. Suddenly I'm inhaling cologne with every breath. Choke. That, and the pool getting really crowded, cut my swim short today. 1250yds. Grr. Just couldn't take it anymore.

I hate that. I don't cut my runs short. I hate that with biking and swimming, I just don't have the interest or discipline like I do with my running. I really need to figure out a way to not get bored swimming laps...

Wow, I had a great run tonight! I did 10.3 miles on the TM at an avg 8:15 pace. And it didn't feel difficult at all. I was really cruising! I could've kept going all night (or so it felt) but I had to get home for dinner. I'll probably pass out from exhaustion in the next half hour...
