Weekend recap:

Saturday: 2.5 hours (50 miles) on trainer; ran 2 miles; 2.5 ish hours (50 miles) on trainer; elliptical 20 minutes

Just wanted to note that scrabble on the kindle is a good time when you are just sitting there riding. I was in the lead for most of the game then lost in the last few moves. Not much to do when you have 4 i's in your deck and a baord with no place to put anything.

Sunday: 3000 Y swim

Made a Buerre Rouge sauce last night for the first time. Was yummy but ended up breaking fairly soon after took off heat. Bummer.

Happy treating to all those who have children that are treating. I'm be leaving early to go hand out some candy. It is hubster's favorite holiday.

Morning, TEAM LIT!

Don: Thanks for the information on the PureProjects. Much appreciated, and nice running over the weekend. Race on trails and you go down. Sorry it happened to you. But you know the drill. It happens.

MQ: Way to get in the workouts!

Weekend recap...

Saturday: 10 mile trail run with two others going up and down an icy Wachusett Mountain. Ran for just under 1:30. A lot of elevation gain and loss.

Sunday 1: 4 mile sloppy snow run early in the morning. Wet.

Sunday 2: 4.5 mile run with wife an hour after the first run. Easy pace so double was, well, easy.

Monday: 5 mile near-tempo run early this very, very cold morning (27F). Gutted it out with shorts. Not a bad decision. Had to watch for black ice.

Great day, folks, and happy Halloween!

Recovering nicely from cross race. 1:04 run, 4.4 miles, included 15min in drills (4x). Run after drills was 12:37, 11:38, 11:30, and 11:30 - all z2 - feeling good. Shin not pleased, probably damage from wrecks yesterday and I'm not too worried. Bruised down deep i think, nothing visible.

Daily run after work. In addition to the various scrapes on my arms and legs, I think I bruised my ribs in the fall yesterday. They didn't start hurting until several hours after I got home from the race, but it's making it difficult to take a deep breath. Feels a little better today than last night.

Thor: I do know the drill. I've taken many tumbles in trail races. The last 2 races of the Fall Series have many miles of very tough footing and I've only got through 1 race unscathed in all the years I've done them. Yesterday's fall was harder than most I've taken because I was running very fast when it happened. The trail went from bright sun and sandy footing to dark shadows and very rocky on a downhill section. I hadn't quite adjusted my eyes when I fell hard. I got up and kept going, but I was more cautious and that cost lots of time. I think I slowed down at least a minute per mile for the next couple miles before trying to pick it up near the end. One of my regular rivals ended up beating me by 10 seconds. I'm still 3rd AG for the series and unless I really mess up badly I should be able to maintain that. No chance to catch the guy in 2nd, and he has no chance to catch the guy in 1st. The only way I could move up is if one of those guys doesn't do the final race. Two of my teammates are 1st AG, but they have no serious competition. The other guy couldn't finish the race yesterday, so he's out of the series for indiviual awards. The team is in 2nd and all we have to do is finish the next race with 3 people to hold that spot. No chance at first unless they DQ as their top 2 men are also the top 2 men overall in the series.

Warm/upper 60s - Sunny and light wind. Crawford/Puckett/Security/Kiva/Fontaine/Grinnell/Crawford/Upton/home. Short very easy effort run. Bruised my ribs yesterday and it's hard to take a deep breath. Stretching afterward.

Happy Halloween! Hope you guys had a good time especially with the little ones!

To those who got affected by the unseasonable heavy snow storm, hopefully your power is back (or never lost) and life is getting back to normal quickly.

7.5miles including 3min (3min recovery jog) x 3 fartrek during the last two miles. My HR is still about 5bpm faster than it should be at any given speed. Getting there, getting there....

Don - sorry to hear about the spill. Out of curiosity, do you run with sunglasses? For me, I really like the amber colored lenses-they make transitioning from sunny to shady really well on the trails.

As for me, 60min contemporary class. Always fun to take a class with a lot of leaps and floorwork, of course I feel about 20 years older this morning...ow.
