I love rest days....sorry Thor, I am not a run-every-day kind of guy.

I put in a quality weekend of training:

Saturday AM: 19.5 mile run in ~2:45:00

Saturday PM: 1:15:00 on the trainer in the basement loosening up my legs

Sunday AM: My wife encouraged me to sleep in (until 7:40AM....holy cow that is late for me). Then set out for a 103 mile bike ride which I completed in 5:30:00. I rode through Princeton University and then up to Rutgers College (where I graduated from). This was followed immediately by a 7 mile run (1:00:00). I was tired but it was a good tired.

Ironman Arizona is now less than four weeks away (or exactly four weeks). One more big weekend, then it is taper time.

Have a great day everyone!

Nice work, miles!

Swam 3250y this morning at masters swim. Felt pretty awesome...some great moments of feeling very fluid. Not a bad way at all to start my 3rd week back after a month off of swimming.

600 as 75 free, 25 kick

6x50 descend 1-3, 5-6 on 1:05

300 @ 75%, focus on being streamlined off of the wall

2x150 as 50 DPS-50 FAST-50 DPS on 10sr

3x100 descend on 1:55

4x75 on 1:30 with focus on kicking 25 no/little kick-25 regular kick-25 over kick

almost made it through that twice, but had to end the second time through with only 3x75

this left me at the wrong end of the pool, so I did 25 back easy to get to the right end

Hoping to make to masters swim 3x a week, starting this week, or next week at least.

BTW...only 3 workouts posted, but 12 views so far today? Lots of lurkers?

I'm lurking, since I could not get my lazy butt out of bed to swim this am. The down side to losing all your fitness is that while you can bust out the periodic big effort, you're pretty much leveled the next day. But I don't have anything important on the horizon any time soon, so I'm trying to be smart for a change.

I have to work tonight, so nothing for me today. I'll try to swim tomorrow instead, but my week is not looking too good for anything except for work, work, and more work this week.

Miles, it sounds to me like you are right on track. Also, those workouts are crazy impressive, man!

Easy lunchtime run planned for me, then a bike commute home and an evening swim workout. Triple whammy.

Guilty. I haven't been working out much since my season ended. So back at it tonight. Strength class after work.

Nothing today...legs are killing me from yesterday's final long run before the Catalina Eco marathon (less than 3 weeks - yikes!).

Sunday's run required a bit of a field trip for me...ran with my cousin's group from the Eaton Canyon Nature Center to the top of Mt. Wilson, which is where all the local TV and radio towers are located. It was just about 20 miles round trip - 10 up, 10 down. Total climbing of over 4800 feet (ouch). It was one of the hardest runs I've ever done, but probably one of the most fun runs I've ever done. It was beautiful, quiet, cool, misty...like something out of a movie. Pace was terrible (it was STEEP!), but I really didn't care. The good thing is that total elevation gain in the marathon is much less, and the longest climb is 4 miles. A good confidence building run!

Good afternoon friends,

I had my last PT session this morning, for my wonky hips. I'm glad to stop paying that $20 per session co-pay, twice a week!

Tomorrow my mom is having surgery for colon cancer and I'd greatly appreciate prayers for a quick recovery for her. I'll be staying up there with her for a few days once she's released from the hospital. I'm going to bring along some running stuff and hope to hit the bike path near her house when there's a break in the nursing care. My workouts are going to be pretty erratic for a week or so, but what can you do? Real life gets in the way, sometimes.

enjoy your day everyone.

Rainy run this morning.

First run in the rain in a loooooooooooooooooong time.

It's part of my "new" (ok, renewed) focus: Get your butt out of bed and on the road regardless of the weather! There are NO excuses.

Except for some scheduling issues that I haven't been able to control, I've been good with this.

Still doing just baby runs, though.

This weekend is MCM, too....so, runs will be moved around quite a bit this weekend.
