Good morning, TEAM LIT!

Nice job over the weekend to those still logging workouts. More impressive bike miles from Reg. Solid runs to others!

Weekend wrap...

Saturday: 5 mile run, solid pace, felt great, tried holding back for race the next day.

Sunday: 8-9 miles in total including 5K race with the wife. She nailed a 5K PR in 25:45 (?) while I hit 17:57 (5:47 pace) which was good for 16th overall in a very, very stacked crowd (top three went 15:57, 16:00, and 16:00), earning me 2nd in the 40+ category and a pint glass! Fought like hell to stay in top 10 but, well, the talent was just too deep. Warmed up 2.5 miles with many, many strides; did race; then cooled down by doing the course again.

4 mile easy (but tiresome) jog early this morning.

Great day, y'all!

Nice job Thor and BIG Kudos to H!!

Weekend recap:

Saturday: schedule said 80 but after feeling like my fingers were frost bitten for the beginning of the ride and being cold we cut it to 56 (1 loop of planned course). We also stopped at mile 31ish for a final ride hot cocoa which was really nice and we figured was the equivalent to our ice cream stop we have done in the past when we tapered in warmer weather. IN any case, it was a solid 56 miles and the best I have felt on the bike in a quite some time. Based on that I felt ok dropping the last 24 miles. Rather have 56 solid hard miles than 80 mediocre miles on my legs at this point.

Sunday: Taper run and breakfast with the IMAZ gang. Ran 5 miles in about 48 minutes. My fastest run I think at that distance IN MY LIFE!! I was just shocked. Followed immediately by excessive delicious food. Hubster made homemade doughnuts that were out of this world good.

Today is the first day of taper and I have a swim on the plan rather than my ususal rest day. T-9 until that plane takes off.

Have a great day peeps!

Muffin Queen: Clear sailing from here on out.... nicely done to both you and Daysman!

Stay positive in mind and body in these remaining weeks.

And I agree, you didn't need that extra mileage. It would have served only the purpose of making you more tired. Not worth it. Love seeing you evolve as an athlete to the point where you can recognize that and make the right call. Nicely done!

Basic daily run and off to work. Wore a rib belt today and that eased the pain some. Cold weather coming again tonight with up to 8 inches of snow possible. Tomorrow could be interesting.

Thor: Nice job on the race. Sounds like a typical race around here.

Cool/low 40s - Sunny and windy. Crawford/Puckett/Security/Kiva/Fontaine/Grinnell/Crawford/Upton/home. Short easy effort run. Wore a rib belt today and that seemed to help some. Stretching afterward.

MQ - only a couple weeks to go!! How exciting!!

Did a quick 3-miler on the treadmill yesterday on account of DH being out of town and rain (which meant no stroller pushing - not necessarily bad). Tonight will be something in the cross training arena but not sure what...perhaps some yoga or walking.

Thor - Congrats to Mrs. for her PR and your yet another solid 5K race.

MQ - Woohoooo!!! I don't even pretend to have any idea how tough an IM training might be, but got to say you sound awefully good to be where you are. Enjoy your taper!

Mike - Awesome job, as usual. I would love to read about your experience (for my planning for the next year) - you are writing RR, aren't ya?

Hit the nearby singletrack with DH. Getting back the feel for it - pretty fast ride in spite of slippery leaves all over. No encouter with a tree. Yoshiko 2 - Tree - ZERO.

Then 6miles in the dark while kids were at the Japanese school. Felt pretty good. Maybe time to start some speed work.
