No fun here atm. Slept beautifully on Fri/Sat nights only waking up a few times. Last night? At least 4x by 1:15am, with lesser intervals from there up until 6am. Therefore, the below shot is pretty accurate...

Gah. I slept terrible the last 2 nights. Up early and into work - need to get a couple things out the door. I definitely could have used one more weekend day.

Fun: despite it being 1000 degrees yesterday, I spent time cooking for this week. Made manicotti and roasted chicken. Also made chocolate chip & colored sprinkle cookies. Mmmmm.

Ladies' Night is tonight, so that should be fun as always. I wouldn't mind if the temperatures (or at least the humidity) broke for a few days. Alas, mid-90s all week (and lots of scattered thunderstorms to keep the humidity up), though the weekend should be a little cooler (mid-80s). That's good because I'm working State Games track meet next weekend.

It's a beautiful day out there. I almost called in sick so I could stay home and enjoy it. : )

Got into it with my niece this morning. I feel horrible about it. I really don't see how else this could have ended, though. We just weren't comfortable with her watching Evelyn anymore. She has too many issues going on right now and needs to get her shit together. No one can do that but her.

Colleen-sorry to hear about the drama, but sounds like you're doing the best thing. Kath- when is your interview? Good luck! Is this the one in Cleveland?

Morning all,

Add me to the sleepy morning crowd. <Yawn>

And so it starts. DD is 10 yo and returned home friday from Space Camp having met the greatest boy. His name is Tyler and he's from Niceville Florida. There's been phone calls and texting from DW's cell phone all weekend. Can't believe that we're here now.

QOD: Here's a fun QOD for you. What's your favorite memory / best story from the roller rink?

My Answer: When I was in elementary school (in Michigan) we had a day long trip to the roller skating rink as a field trip. Don't ask how they got that approved because there was no official educational value in taking grades 3 - 5 to a roller rink. Anyway, I was in the 4th grade and we were there for the day. It was early in the day, before lunch, and the DJ announces couples skate. So, we clear the floor and head over near the video games. (Classic arcade games like Astroids and Space Invaders). This tall blonde girl who was in 5th grade skates over to me in front of my friends and asks me to "go out there." So, I do. We do laps around the rink holding hands among the other brave couple skaters. After the song ended, I think we just said bye. Later in the day, she found me again for a repeat performance. We never spoke again at school, but I remember seeing her in the 5th grade section of the school and always though, that's the girl that skated with me.

Now my DD is that age. Ugh!

G'morning all - can I get one weekend with two nights of good sleep in a row? Bah! Went up to large on the latte today

Good luck with the interview prep Kath!

kj - you got up here on a good weekend; hope it was at least a productive time for you here in the Bay Area

((((clare)))) - ugh, that must not have been fun, but it had to be done. I hope she can get her act together

QOD - oh, geez, I have terrible memories of the roller-rink. The rink was close enough to where our junior high school used it for P.E. activities once per week. I was a terrible skater and prime target for more accomplished skaters/jerks to come by and plant me on my backside by tripping me from behind. Only thing that was cool was the music - I thought Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" was about the best skating song around

If I'm having little stabbing pains in my stomach area on the left side, should I be worried about that? There not super painful, nor do they last very long, but they take me by surprise and make me wince and jerk when they hit.

Had a fun weekend with my sisters and niece. I don't take too much $ when I go to a casino, and I don't take my ATM card with me, so when it's gone, it's gone. I won just enough small amounts here and there to stretch out my $ for several hours, so it was good. Had a couple cocktails afterward back at my sister's and watched movies.

Prae- at the risk of asking too personal a question, are you mid-cycle?

QOD- the roller rink only lasted a few years, but I remember having fun there. I wasn't good enough to go backwards or do the limbo but it was cool. My favorite memory is that we were able to get our own pop from the fountain machine, and we were big into making "suicides" (aka mixing every flavor of pop into a single cup).

My 7yo DS has just discovered this and now it's his new favorite thing to do at places like McD's and other restaraunts where you get to pour your own drinks.

That's what I suspected at first as well, but it's not the right time, too high (more waist than lower abdomen), the pain is different, and that never lasted as long. Hopefully it goes away soon.

Some pics from the weekend! Lady Evelyn...she's such a doll! And Lena with her sparkler. I'm not sure how DH got the pic to do that, but it's pretty cool. She was making circles with it and he got the pic to actually show it. She thought that was pretty neat.

Tomorrow, 1pm, in Cleveland. (Well, suburb on the west side.) It's about 5 miles from my parent's house; 10 miles from where I want to live. For whatever reason I'm oddly calm about this one.

QOD: My grade school did roller/ice skating parties, but they were always on Friday nights. My brothers are almost-9 & almost-10 years older than me, and for whatever reason were willing to go to these things with me. Probably the funniest parts were my friends reactions to my couples-skating with an older guy.

Really?!? You don't see the resemblance*???

*there is no question that the 4 of us are siblings. No idea how they missed that.

Speaking of baby parts.

I just saw a feature on the news this weekend about a local company that makes glass keepsakes of baby's hands and/or feet.

QOD- my parents actually did some competing as dance pairs on roller skates back in the late 50's early 60's. Truth. I remember have little strap on roller skates and going to the rink with them and skating like a little banshee when I was like 4 years old.
