My lower back was sore last night and even more sore this morning, so I bagged my scheduled run and instead did lots of stretching, some vitamin i, and an ice pack. Feeling a bit better now. I guess my body was telling me to be smart instead of my usual stupid (pushing through pain).

I hope you all have great workouts today, and hopefully I'll join you tomorrow morning with a good report.

5 mile run early this morning. Turned it into tempo at the turning point of this out-and-back course. A bit hungover from yesterday's football games. I love football season.

So apparently yesterday's class was a major hip workout (all of the jumps should have been my first clue!), the hip flexors are P!SSED this morning. Fortunately today's class won't have any jumps (or kicks for that matter), so I should survive. A producer is doing preliminary casting tonight, so class will be packed full of pretty faces.

REST DAY! But, I will be busy. Coaching daughters soccer practice from 5:30PM to 6:30PM, then I have to drop my bike off at my LBS to have the cables replaced. As I was cleaning my bike yesterday afternoon I snapped my rear derailleur cable....actually it was rusted. The plastic coating around it had cracked and that was that. I hope that they can get it back to me by tomorrow night. Fingers crossed.

On a postiive note, I feel pretty good today, not really that sore from the weekend...although I wasn't able to get my hour and 15 minute spin in last night due to my cable snap.

Hope you all have a great day!

Wrapping up the bike commuting days ... 17 miles in, a short 15.8 at lunch (had to include in town errand), and 10.8 home for about 43.5 on the day.

Lots of wave spotters today ... the surf was quite rough.

Seems like the crazy-life fairy picked me to play!

Got DD back to college last week. She was super excited to go back which made leaving her much easier this time.

DS starts college classes this week. He, on the other hand, is scared!

Me- been dealing with tendonitis in the upper anterior side of my shin since... well, Chelanman. So I've taken a few weeks off of any significant training to give it some time to heal. Between the compression socks, the Ibuprofen, the ice and the rest, I think I'm good to go- for at least plan B. I was planning on the Seattle HM in November. I'm a little worried about building the mileage so quickly so I'm aiming for a 5K pr for the following weekend. Then I'll build for a spring HM.

Long way of saying- tonight is an easy 3 miles fib weight training and core.

was going to go swim after work.

instead I went to the local Monday night fun run (starting and leaving from a local bar) and went for my first run in six months (and my first run in my five fingers). 1.9 miles of sheer joy.

I think my PT might be a little mad at me when I tell him, and my hip will probably be super pissed tomorrow, but I don't care, my brain feels about a million times better.

Scott, look up Shaun T's Insanity workouts on Youtube. It's basically high intensity interval workouts heavy on the plyometrics. All I have on the race schedule this fall is an 8k trail run so I thought I would try something different. It's fun and challenging.

3 mile run. 26:46. not bad considering it is maybe the 3rd time I've run since IMLP. maybe 4. my new coach - WIFE.. has put together a plan (through APRIL) - it's amazing what you can get done during boring conference calls.... this ought to be interesting.. Odds we are divorced? Odds we are angry, odds I just quit and get fat?
