I guess I'll kick it off at 1:30 PM EST. Is everyone still running?

5 miles in sunshine and wind. Really tough going OUT, absolutely beautiful (OK, that's stretching it) coming back in.

I was really thinking there would be a taper update by now.

today will be a rest day for me. I am working until 4 p.m, then heading home to get ready for the BCS Bowl game. A few friends and their kids are coming over to watch the game with us. pizza, taquitos, chips, salsa, veggies, dip....guess I need to really do some running tomorrow!

I was so in awe of December/annual monthly totals thread, it didn't even occur to me to start a daily thread.

6.2 miles early this morning in 57:57 (love that symmetry!). Felt like I could've kept going indefinitely, so I guess I've truly found my cruising pace. Ran from home into the park (mostly downhill) and then back home again a different way (still uphill, no matter how you slice it). Maybe these other uphills were tamer than my usual return route? Regardless, my legs liked 'em.

Hoping to go to yoga this evening (yeah, I've said that before....). Happy Monday, all.

also! Just a plug for VRAA - sign ups are happening now through the 12th, with this next round starting on the 14th. So far only 13 people have signed up which makes for two pretty small teams. So, if you've done it before or want to give it a shot - go sign up on the VRAA forum. It's a fun way to add a bit of team playing into your workouts. (and it makes me stretch more or work on my core more!)

Last time I did VRAA I got hurt. I have a hard enough time being careful as it is.

Working from home this morning, reading proposals I can't concentrate on at work. I might run a few on the treadmill before I get ready to go in to the office later.

5 slow miles on snow-covered bike trail. Spent so much of the time looking where to plant my feet with all the ruts, icy patches, and footprints, that I hardly got to enjoy the scenery. Have the day off from work, so it was a treat to run while it's light out anyway.

Most of my UO football friends took today off from work saying that there was no way they could concentrate today. I said that wouldn't be a problem for me. I was wrong. I'M CLIMBING THE FREAKIN' WALLS HERE!!!

I'm going to try and get out of here between 1:00 and 2:00 pm, get a quick three mile run in to try and de-stress, and then get ready for kick-off. Go Ducks!

My thoughts as well. VRAA feeds too much into my competitiveness and makes it really easy to overdo it.

I think my 2011 goal needs to become my mantra (Don't do anything stupid..........don't do anything stupid.............. don't do anything stupid)

Thankfully, we have flex hours at work, as the relative warmth and bright sunshine at lunch made an outdoor run impossible to resist!

5.5 miles with a smattering of sproink!

Got some strange looks in the company cafeteria, as they had my absolute favourite entré salad on the menu today, so I went in for takeout in my sweaty running duds to make absolutely sure I got some before they closed. Apple orchard salad....... with grilled chicken, apple slices, pecans, dries cranberries and goat cheese over greens............Yum!!!

Have a greta day everybody!!

Is there a football game today? Seriously, go Ducks! I've been resting, quietly content. Lunch yoga was good, and she pleasantly surprised me with a few poses like bridge & hammock we haven't done in quite a while. I'll do my run + circuits + run workout that has become a Monday after-work routine now.

Hi Gang,

I'm with Erika and Heme on the VRAA thing. It had the same effect on me.

I've been offline mostly this past w/e. Hanging with my DD in the Big Apple. Went to MoMA. Ran around Union Sq to Times Sq. early yesterday. It was fun!

6 miles this morning in cold temps and breezes. After a 2 mi w/u managed 5 x 0.5 mi intervals with 2:00 rests. Hung around the 7:30 pace. Once I was truly warmed up it was fun.

There was football this w/e? I didn't know. The Pats had the week off.

For the other VRAA discussers: I have had that happen once in the VRAA too, but the past two rounds, I've taken advantage of the Alternate Workout (etc) points to add more stretching, core, and cross training to my weekly regimen. I also make sure I take the long walk to and from the bus stop to the office each day, so I get in an extra 2 miles of walking. I can either be owned by my competitiveness or I can bottle it. I choose the latter.

OK, tomwhite, you should be done by now.

Funny, I've never gotten injured as a result of VRAA. But then again, there's never been any doubt to me being odd...

Just got back from the oral surgeon for a consultation for DD. Turns out, after 4 years of corrective orthodonture, she's going to have to get braces all over again... to correct the correction her original (retired) orthodontist provided for her! And, she's going to need to have her jaw repositioned. Poor kid. Now we're under the gun to have this all done before she leaves for college in a year and a half. Fun, fun, fun.

Apple Orchard salad sounds wonderful Heme! Of course even more so as I approach dinner time here. Mr. CNYrunner is chopping away at something in the kitchen and onion and garlic smells are wafting out of the kitchen. I may have to climb into the oven...I can barely wait.

Ran 8.2 miles in the cold dark morning before a day of appointments and then work on a nearby campus.
