Another long run in the dark, getting done at about midnight. I had planned to do a 20 mile race Saturday morning, but some broad totaled my truck while it was parked on the street and the insurance hasn't paid off yet, so no race for me. Glad I didn't preregister. Changed the time of the run to Sunday night.

20 miles in just under 2:54 in what must be a new pr. Start at 62 degrees, end at 57 degrees. A little bit of wind. Perfect conditions.

That gives me 46.6 miles for the week including dropping my season 5k pr down to 21:54. So a real good end to a real good week.

One more heavy week with a hilly marathon this coming saturday then taper to my target marathon.

Good luck everybody.

Nice run PA. Sorry 'bout the truck.

80 min run this morning with 4 X .75 mile repeats with 2 min recoveries. suppose to hit 8k pace but didn't quite get the motor revved that high. Close enough for the girls I go with.

Good race Mr and Mrs C, Millbo, and Rip

Nice 20 miler PA.

Ksrunr, seems like your motor is always revved.

Howdy groovy Mike!

I received an e-mail from the RD of the10k race on Sat. Seems they goofed on the results and I got 3rd in my AG (out of 5). I thought for sure I'd be last. Nice of him to follow up on that.

I ran 2 this morning but had planned to do 3. I just haven't felt that good for a few days so decided to bag it.

Enjoy your week!

Still in Northern Michigan and I ran 10 miles this morning in 57° weather. 1:29 and change for an 8:55 pace. Avg HR never got out of the 130's till I ran the last mile at Tempo. Driving back to Detroit today to catch an evening flight back to Ft. Laud. I can almost guarantee tomorrow's easy 6 miles will be harder than today's 10.

We went back out to look at the property yesterday. It turns out it backs up to a Township Park and is only an easy 3 minute walk through the woods to Lake Michigan, complete with fire pits, BBQ grills, play ground, and picnic tables. Trying not to get ahead of myself, but this place is perfect.

Bill - that DOES sound perfect! Hope it all works out. I may have missed this along the lines somewhere, but is this a 2nd home investment or are you planning on moving permanently?

a track marathon eh Gobi? . . . . that sounds rather mind numbing

and yes. you should join VRAA again. Afterall, this new level is practically in your honour!

major bummer on the truck Plugging. Nice 20 mile PR though! those temps sound pretty ideal too.

you had quite a spectacular weekend of running Ribs. TCM is sure approaching fast.

Hi KS! sometimes it's okay to go a bit under the speed limit. it's only Monday afterall.

nice surprise Choovie! I haven't even pulled up results from my 5K on Saturday. I know I was towards the end of my AG though.

Hi Groovy Mike!

Will run after work tonight, while DS is at football practice. He has his first real game this Saturday. They played scrimmages this past Saturday. I was only able to see the 2nd scrimmage and they sure looked good in that one.

Have a great Monday and start of your week everyone!

It was a fun weekend at the Red Rock Relay. Our team consisted of 10 members of my extended family and 2 friends, some of them new runners. They all did a great job, and are limping with pride today. My contribution consisted of 22 miles in temperatures from the 40s to the 90s, elevation from 3800' to 9600', distances from 2.2 to 7.5 miles, and the honor of running the anchor leg. A great experience.

ez 3mi followed by platelet donation. had a tough weekend, though not as tough as ribs had. 8mi w speed saturday, then 17 hilly miles at 8-flat yesterday.

this old version of firefox seems to remove the problem that i've been having with the ads here at kick. in internet explorer i keep getting two "waiting for..." messages in the browser status window at the bottom, alternately waiting for pubads.g.doubleclk.net/gampad/ads?.... and then

www.kickrunners.com/atlas/atlas_rm.htm?.... this sucks down my internet connection and pc clock and makes it nearly impossible to type any messages. as a site free-loader i see no options to modify the advertizing settings on my profile page. seems to have started when that damn tampex ad for sports tampons started appearing... f*ck those sports tampons...

seems like more than a few people are being affected by this. hopefully someone will fix it, or the issue will probably chase away several site users, including me.

Millbot that must have been a blast! I wish I could put together a relay team consisting of extended family, but alas, other than DD, they're mostly a sedentary bunch.

Lab, Econo, Johnny, Rinda . . . anyone else that might have had interest in the GPHM this November . . .

The GP HM has been changed to 11/20, due to a conflict with another popular local race on the previous date of 11/13.

Not sure if this change in dates would now conflict with any of your schedules, but wanted to let you know.

Rest day for me.

I don't like the ads but they don't seem to slow down my computer much. I do get a lag when scrolling through threads sometimes. Also a free-loader here, but I spend more time at RA most days, it seems.

Nice 20 miler, PA. You and Mariposai running these long runs at night... I prefer later in the day to early morning runs, but have never thought of doing a long run at night. Should try that sometime. (in the summer, when it's light all night long anyway)

Millbot, that sounds like quite the relay! Good for your family to pull together a team like that. My family isn't so sedentary, just hard to find 10 of 'em in any one place... or two, or three...

Yesterday as I was heading out for my run, our tenant saw me and said "So, one more week, right?" I looked at him blankly, not having any idea what he was talking about. Then he said "isn't the Equinox next weekend?" Oh yeah! Geez, I totally spaced it out. Nice change from last year when I was tied up in knots over this race. Now I know what I'm getting into and the weather looks perfect. What could possibly go wrong?

I ran a last minute marathon yesterday. I had planned to use it as an opportunity to practice my walk/run strategy for JJ. That didn't happen.... Weather was nasty: rain, mid-50's, strong head wind. I ended up running without walk breaks just to finish quicker. I didn't eat or sleep well on Saturday so I relied on gels to give me energy.( I stopped using gels last year because they don't agree with me.) As a result I ran into some major GI problems at mile 18 and found myself sitting on the curb for a bit, then walking 2 miles before I started running again. I ended up running pretty well the last 5 miles.

Even though I didn't get the run I had planned, I still got to practice the "it never always gets worse" concept. My run went to a very dark place, but I came out the other end feeling strong. I've also sworn off all gel-like substances.

Nice surprise on the AG Choovie.

Fun,fun relay for Millbot

And I can't wait for Evan to rock the 50k next weekend!!!!

I forgot to mention yesterday that Barb rode 19 miles on her bike. They put on big/softer tires and she said it was agonizingly slow but progress is being made.
