Well, looks like I can start the day off here with last night's run. Yes, I did get one in after the wedding. Started my run at 9:40 pm and ended at 10:50 pm. Needless to say it's been a long night...

But--it was a GREAT DAY! Phillip and I danced a few jigs, the Patriots are going to the SuperBowl, I ran my entire run at 7:30 pace...what could be better!? That's really all I wanted out of the day anyway.

Total run - 9.32 miles, 70 minutes, 7:30 pace, AND, a new weekly PR of 79 miles...

Traveling all day on this Martin Luther King, Jr. day. No plans to run, but who knows...our plane lands in Omaha at 5:00 pm...

Safe travels, Tonya.

It's a planned off day for me, but if I find a little bit of free time to myself I might take an easy three or four. It's unlikely, as I've got both kids today and am home from work. Thinking about heading to the aquarium in the morning.

Not sure what I'm going to do today either. Scheduled for an hour on the stationary bike and core but may add 3 miles. I travel Wed - Sat and am not sure whether I'll be able to run do to schedules. Still I should probably rest my back. We'll see how she goes! Film at 11:00!

Hope most of you have the day off and can get in a great workout.

Dan - Have a great time what ever you decide to do.

I have planned for an hour or so on the bike. I want to ride outside but it is cold right now, 25', to be on a bike. Then at least a 5 mile run. Maybe wait till lunch.

Tonya--ya gotta post pictures! There was a rumor going 'round about an orange tux...

Ellen--the aquarium sounds fun! Might just take my guys on a field trip to the zoo.

Dan and David--one of you has to change your avatar. I know the background is not the same, but you are both wearing the same thing!

Rest day for me. And I need it! Even after my afternoon nap yesterday (feel asleep watching TV, woke to hubby laughing at me snoring...) I was still pretty tired. Will do core and yoga, though.

... but David looks like he's a bit closer.

Four miles today, clear and cold -- but in no way unmanageable.

Good runs, all

Hey Rob - Heading to Portland and then Bend. Short flight to Portland and then a lot of driving around. Overnight to LA? Man, that's a tough one eh? Sorry about the Chargers. They'll be back. Who ya got for SB? I think I've got to go with the Pats or Tonya will kill me

Yesterday I got in 8 of my planned 11.25 miles. Temperature was -5 and the wind chill was -20. Came dangerously close to frostbite on my hands despite wearing multiple pairs of gloves. I actually had to duck into a McDonald's at 6 miles. By the end I was in pain in multiple areas. I think -10 wind chill will be my limit for running outside from now on.....

Good morning everyone. I am about to venture out into the snowy day. I believe about 4-6 inches already on the ground and the route I had planned to go should not be plowed at all. I had planned for 5, but due to the amount of snow it could be 3 today 5 tomorrow, or 4 and 4. Either way I believe I will have an interesting report for today's run. Have a great morning.

It's supposed to get into tho 20s this afternoon. Planning on 8-10 outside or on the TM, depending on how icy it gets since it's just stopped snowing. Nice day to have off...

Congrats of Patriots and Giants fans! The Pats were ripe for the picking but they still came though. Great game at Lambeau though. I'm sure the Giants kicker had to change his underwear a couple of times.

Good morning all,

Scheduled off day for me today, not from work unfortunately, just from running. I thought about going out today anyway, since I missed a workout on Friday last week, but after racing Saturday, traveling to Philadelphia Saturday night, and returning yesterday evening in time for my indoor soccer game, I'm a little worn out today.

I'm working on a "kona eye-opener" right now (kona + 2 shots espresso).

I could change my mind and do something tonight, maybe a recovery run. We'll see how things go. Either way I'll probably do a double tomorrow.

Tonya/Phill - safe trip home and congrats on the Patriots. As an Eagles fan I just can't root for the Giants, so go Pats!

Dave - good luck getting that ride in later. Those are pretty cold temps when you're on a bike with all that wind resistance.

RichardC/Nirv - sounds like tough runs yesterday but you got them in. Not sure I would have even attempted going outside in those conditions.

Dan/Chances - good travels later

4bm - enjoy the off day

RunAsics/Kfuller - good luck with the snowy runs.

Baba - good run this AM

Ellen - have a good run or rest, whatever you decide.

WOO HOO! Today was the START of my marathon training for the Tacoma City Marathon on May 10th! I'm following a traditional 16 week plan that is a bit easier than something like Pfitzinger or Daniels, but still pushes me.

Mondays are speed-ish days so today called for:
1 mile warmup
2 miles at goal pace (9:00)
2 miles tempo (8:36)
2 miles at goal pace (9:00)

well...it didn't turn out quite like that...here's the results:

1 mile warmup: 10:09
2 miles goal pace: 9:05, 9:44
2 miles tempo: 8:43, 8:29
2 miles goal pace: 9:22, 8:45
.17 cooldown: 1:49

I definitely have to get used to the different paces, but I'm pretty happy with the results.

Tanya: wow, what a weekend!
Dan: let me know what you thought of that plan!
Nirvy: wow, that's really cold
kfuller: can't wait for the day I get to run in the snow!

looks like a lot of well deserved rest for some of you ...everyone else have some great runs!

Hmm did a 2.9 mile small run this morning before the cold air was about to make me vomit, felt really good otherwise. realized at the first mile I was going like 6:05 pace so I wanted to see how far I went in 15:00. It came out to 2.45;6:07/mile so I'm confident with that. 10k is in 13 days, I'm nervous as anything. To run my goal time (34:30) I need to hit 3:27/kilometer (5:33/mile)

Easier said than done. I'll be biking later to an aerobic stimulus.

Stay warm everyone, enjoy Dr. King's birthday.. and Tonya, the Pat's may be in the Superbowl.. but so are the NY (football) Giants! (does anyone know why the announcers call them the NY Football Giants?)

Dan -- No favorites on the SB, really. All my horses are out of the race . . .

Next time we happen to be in CA at the same time, let's hook up for a casual long run, eh?

I had a kind of dissapointing weekend, but oh well.

Started out fun when I went indoor rock climbing for 3 hours. First time I had done that so it was cool. Met up with another old friend for dinner, so I didn't have a chance to get a run in until 10:00. Same weather most people are reporting: 3 degrees with -15 or so wind chill. That didn't really bother me, but I hadn't had enough water on the day and the water I though might be ok was ice within 5 miles (I didn't look at the temps before I ran, so I though it was going to be closer to 15 degrees or so out).

Sunday, I woke up late and when I do that, it's tough to get any motivation going for the day. I did some extra biking and random core stuff, but only got three in. Really that's the only day I got less than 6 in so far this year so I shouldn't complain, but I had a nice run going there. If nothing else I've got extra motivation to save up for a treadmill for next winter.

Good work out there everyone who's getting runs in in this crap.
