Good morning to all!

DH got up way early and left for a seminar upstate and I'll be home alone for a few days. I decided to take a rest day today after really pushing it over the past 3 days for VRAA6, as I don't want to court an injury. So the dynamic duo and I have just been hanging out this morning, drinking coffee and they take turns sitting on my lap while I check my email.

It's very nice to have an unhurried morning for a change. I even read a chapter in my book! I was planning to read last night but then the Superbowl got exciting and DH wanted to watch it, so I got sucked into the TV show. He was so incredibly happy that the Giants won. I enjoyed the half-time show, especially since we have Petty tickets (with Winwood) coming in June, I think. I'm not crazy about his beard either; it's kind of a zztop look which doesn't suit him, I think.

Have a great day all. Supposed to rain all week here so I'll be hitting the treadmill tomorrow. The nice thing about rest days is that then you're all geared up for a good workout the next day. Gotta get ready for work now.

4.09 recovery miles this morning in 38:06 (9:18 pace). Then I did some functional resistance works and (carefully!) finished it all of with some plyometrics. We'll see how I feel tomorrow!

Lifted this pic from Pine Belt Racers website for you who have to run on the dread mill.

I have decided after Mc's report yesterday and some of your other reports that 1 whole month will be dedicated to finding the fun in running again. Fun to me is always found in a race or getting ready to race. To that end today was 6.75 miles in a progessively fast pace but not intentionally so. 70 degrees humid and blustery this morning at darkthirty while the dw swam laps.

No run tonight.

Congrats to the Giants. What a catch?

Well, a few of you out there already. I'm still in injury-recovery mode and this has been a particularly bad time to not be running since there are some added stresses at work right now.

But I shouldn't complain. I've only been out of commission a couple of weeks, but it's easily the longest running layoff for me in several years. I've promised myself that my formula will be pain-free + one week before starting to run again, so on that basis I'll be jogging next Sunday or Monday. The problem is that my way of dealing with pain has always been to deny that it exists, so even if I feel a twinge today I'll probably lie to myself and say that I was imagining it. Anyone else play this game?

Here's hoping for good runs for everyone else today, and I'll try not to be too envious.

Roch, I acknowledge my pain, but I usually question whether it means anything until it becomes undeniable. I hope you're back in the game soon.

>> fun vibes >> ksrunr << fun vibes <<

Good morning all.

A rest day for me today after my LR yesterday and tree cutting and land clearing yesterday almost all day. I'm getting things prepared to start start on my grape growing project this spring.

Hey Roch....Pain-free....what does that feel like?

I'm putting off my run until this afternoon: I spent most of yesterday digging over a new vegetable patch, and my back is none to happy about this. I hope to get in to see the chiro soon. The January miles have been totalled and posted. Constructive feedback is welcome.

nice runs Robin, ksrunr, Millbot & Lynden....good resting to the others

I have a neighbor who does plyometrics down the street! Funny to watch but he's a 3:10 marathoner so I'm not laughing!

7.5 miles w/ 8 strides on very tired legs. I wasn't sure how the run was going to go but finally after about 3 miles I got in a groove.

Happy Monday!

Roach, maybe some time on a stationary bike or elliptical machine would be a good transition next week instead of running? You know, something less jarring.

KS - that catch was unbelievable, not to mention Eli's Houdini act to set it up. There was no joy in Mudville last night.

Ran 6 EZ miles this morning in mid-20's temps. 51:59 (8:40 pace).

Good runs, all,

The guys at our house were sure hooting over that game last night! Fun stuff.

I got the King Cake made yesterday and I must say it looks pretty good for an amateur. Hopefully, it will taste okay and no one will break a tooth on the baby.

My week is going to be all messed up and I'm having a problem coming up with a suitable running schedule for this cut-back week.

Question: Any chance I can get away with subbing a day of classic xc skiing for a 9 mile run?

Yoga on tap for tonight.

Glad I got my runs done (mostly) outside this weekend... It's even colder today and gonna get worse! -50 for tonight in the coldest spots. Eeek. Good thing that's not where we are. We always get the "10 to 20 degrees warmer in the hills" benefit.

XT day for me today, but I don't know what I'll do. Probably the stationary bike and magazine reading while dinner cooks...

Oil fired furnace w/ hot-water baseboard heating (and a $732 fuel bill last month!!), circulating heaters or heated garage for the car... We have a woodstove but don't use it much (house gets too hot sometimes). But, we don't need AC in the summer!
