Am I really the first one here this morning? How very odd.

I'll apologize in advance...but I've come here to complain.

I didn't get to run that 21k this weekend. We got a storm. A wack more snow. I spent most of the afternoon shovelling...again. The stupid banks are over my head now so I ache all over from trying to lug that crap up and over. And I've got albido burn on my face.

So I'm feeling guilty and decide to head up to the gym to try and get the run in. Sucks that I had to use one of my free passes (that I wanted to use for spin class). And it was an awful run. I huffed and stitched through the whole thing. Plus, I only got 9 miles in before the gym closed and I had to go home.

Today I'm still achey and my right hip is really bothering me. My hips have never bothered me but lately they have been. I just wonder sometimes why I even bother. Anyone ever have one of those days? I just feel big and slow.

There. I'm done.

(((Clare))) That sucks that all that snow has really impacted your running. I have had a lot of those days where I wonder why I even bother. Usually my next run reminds me why I enjoy it so much. What stretches have you been doing for your hips? I am going to my yoga class ina few hours and ask the teacher about some hip openers, if you would like. I actually need them for myself, also.

I am planning on getting a few miles in after yoga today. It's supposed to be a beautiful day, and I would like to take advantage.

Have a good day!

Clare, I'm sorry that you had a bad workout there. Well, it's Monday, which I suppose can put anybody in a bad mood...

I had a nice 17 mile run on Saturday, and then an off day yesterday. Today I'll be back at it with 10 or so. And Monday is tempo day, so they'll be done rather quickly, also. We shall see...

Good runs to all...

It's all right to complain, Colleen. I've got a whole list of my own that I'm chewing on right now about running.

Oh well. 5x5s of squats, weighted pull ups, barbell overhead presses this morning. 1x5 of deadlifts. 5x5 of weighted dips later this morning.

Thank you, Becca. That's very nice of you. Let me know what you find out!

This brings me to a QOD: What do you do to bring it back around after a bad run (or a bad stretch of runs)?

((((Colleen)))) At least you are bothering to run...keep that in mind to make you feel better. I'm not running at all, and I can't make myself go when I have a few spare minutes. Maybe that's the reason...I only have a few spare minutes and I need to do NOTHING. But I'm sick of myself. Blah.

Morning all,

Clare The good news is since you've gone through the worst of it, the best of this week for workouts and runs must be ahead. Sorry you had such a rough day of it.

I manged to squeeze in one whole mile yesterday before work. I spent the greater part of yesterday sleeping, which was much needed. I hope to get a better workout in today.

Good vibes sent out for good workouts and runs to all!

(((Maureen))) Sounds like the show is eating up a lot of your time these days!

As you probably read in the other thread, no I didn't. I just got too busy yesterday. But I'm confident that it'll happen soon. Especially after Daylight Savings Time hits (which is next weekend). After that, it'll still be light enough after work that I could take her out. So any day now...

Hey all:

OMG. Daylight Savings Time?? I think my kids are still adjusting to the last change!! What kind of moron thought of this?? Oh, the US Govt. Well. That makes sense.

Congrats again to Pacer. Nice way to start off the season with a win. Now if you can pull off what Arata Fujiwara did at the Tokyo Marathon (30 minute PR for a second place finish - 2:38 -> 2:08 ) maybe we'll be looking for you on another podium!!

Ok, so Sunday's long run seriously kicked my ass. I ran this on a rolling loop course near my house where the only flat part is about 30 feet where you cross over a small dam. Everything else is going up, or going down. I warmed up with an 8, then 7:30 then 7:15 and then it was all 6:30s and 6:40s from there on out. By 10 or so I could just feel the fatigue creeping in and it was all I could do to just hang on to that pace.

The last 2 miles heading home were flat and I tried to keep the effort level consistent and I dropped down to 6:20 pace, so the the workout was probably around that level if I had run a flat course.

17.75 in 2 hours. Last week was just over 58.

Clare - That just stinks. Sorry.

Good Morning!

Today's run is up to DH. I would like to get to the track and do my intervals for this week a day early, but he needs to go with me so I'll have to see if I can get him out of the office for an hour this morning. I'm not holding my breath, Monday's are usually crazy. Arg, just asked, he can't go for a few hours and it'll be in the 80's--don't know what to do...

I'm wanting to try to get the quality runs done earlier this week so I can try to get a couple of easy days before Jax on Saturday. I'm feeling pretty good after a last week's big mileage, just a bit sore from the downhills yesterday on the TM. Much better than the first few time I did those, so that's good.

Have great runs today everyone!!

Good morning. Today is my rest day but if it gets as warm as I hear it will I am going to try to figure out how to add a couple of running miles to my day. I just can't pass that up.

Congratulations, Pacer, on your win this weekend.

QOD: After I add my bad run to my running log I forget about it. It's over and my next run is a fresh start. I learn what I did wrong from my bad run. Usually I didn't get enough sleep, drink, didn't eat the right foods, or get my proper vitamins and minerals. So, what I will usually do after a bad run is drink my fluids and eat properly.

Clare - I've been having those thoughts a lot lately. Between routinely hurting myself, being sick, crappy weather and cold and being too busy, it just seems like I'm fooling myself that I'm a runner of any kind.

The only thing that's kept me from stopping altogether is that rogue thought that I want to run and it's not fair that all those things conspire against me. So I go run again. And grumble. And run again. And grumble some more.

Finally, yesterday was a run that made me feel like it was right that I was out there trying. It's been a long time coming for me, but you'll get one of those runs soon!!

Have to fit in 3.5 tonight.

Good runs all, I'm running late this morning!

Just completed my cross training, ab work and pushups. I have a basketball game tonight as well. Bad weather on the way Tuesday and Wednesday so I might be delayed on my runs until Thursday. We shall see how it goes.

Knocked out 55 minutes of cardio & strengh training this morning. Will hit the tmill for a few miles after I get home from a meeting tonight (hm, maybe I can skip the meeting...)

Clare....It seems like lately I have more of those kind of runs than I do the good ones. I just focus on tomorrow being a better run!

Morning Gang -

Weights and cardio on tap today. I still may try to avoid lower body weights for another session or two - or at least take it easy. Quad feels fine though.

JenRuns - why does DH need to go with you?

QOD: Even when I have a bad run, I tell myself its better than no run. I think about people like Cus with his cast, Jill with her bronchitis, etc. and I feel lucky that I was able to get out and run. So I move on.

BigG - did you get up early and run?
