I suppose England's overwhelming victory in the rugby on Saturday has put a dampner on some of the paddy's day celebrations .

there were no towels at the gym this lunchtime, so i have to postpone my swim a few hours; will be back this evening but that then knocks on into the planned weights session (which i'll have to slot in on weds, I think). bummer.

I was scheduled to do an easy hour swim today, but I've what we think is some IT Band soreness in my left knee and so today is now a complete rest day. I'll spend some time this evening with my good friend, the foam roller. I had a massage scheduled for tomorrow, so we'll focus on the IT Band during that.

My hill/plyometrics workout for tomorrow also got can canceled, as well as my bike ride on Wed. I can live with missing the swim and bike, but skipping the run is absolutely killing me. I hate missing a key workout 5 weeks from Boston. I know that its the smart thing to do. I know that getting injured before my A-race would be a stupid thing to do. Still doesn't mean I have to like it. I guess that's one reason I pay for a coach, to tell me the things that I know I should be doing but don't really want to hear.

I hope everyone else's week is starting better than mine.

Rest day then my third period of base starts tomorrow and I get to add in more LT work. Oh goodie!

I need to call my massage therapist to work out the rest of this muscle soreness.

tonight will either be a short swim or some aerobic house cleaning, depending on how I feel at the end of the day. my husband is actually home this week (so far, this could change), plus my sister is in town from the left coast, so I think I'll end up spending time with them.

Ouch! Hope it's not serious~

I had one done last year and during the process, I kept thinking of that scene from the movie "Top Secret" when Nick Rivers (played by Val Kilmer) accidently turned on the magnet to the atomic bomb and the submarine came flying into the prison cell! To no avail!!

Strength and stretching tonight (60 minutes).

Good news on the Bannon front. Dad is making definite recovery progress. He squeezed my hand this weekend and seemed to recognize people. Then this morning my mom called and said she got a phone call early this morning - from Dad!! Wow!! I'm hoping to drive up some evening this week after work, just to say hi and drive home.

More good news on the Bannon front. My knees are also making definite recovery progress. I'm still not pushing them too hard, but I rode 25 miles yesterday at 17 mph average and today they feel good. Hoping to re-start the bike commuting tomorrow.

Other news on the Bannon front. Works is...yikes. Oh well, that's tax season for you.

Good workouts everyone. I'm hoping to hit the pool this evening for a solid swim session. I'm still trying to catch up on the 48 race reports, apologies if it takes me a while to post a reply to some of them, I'm not ignoring you!

Enjoy your green beer tonight Peeps!

Great news, Matt - what a relief ... Glad to see he's heading out of the woods.

Usual 5.1 mile run for me - just over 43 (8:30 miles). Windy and cool - but nice to stretch out a bit after a long weekend of sitting.

Skipping my swim today/tonight. Plan to join a few friends after work to lift a pint or two and sing a few songs...

"In a neat little town they call Belfast
Apprenticed in trade I was bound
And many an hour of sweet happiness
I spent in that neat little town
Till bad misfortune befell me
And caused me to stray from the land
Far away from my friends and relations
To follow the black velvet band

Chorus EVERBODY!

Her eyes they shone like the diamond
You'd think she was queen of the land
And her hair hung over her shoulder
Tied up in a black velvet band"

Awesome workouts everyone. I hit the pool for a decent swim today. Workout:
2x200 w/u
4x50 kick(no board)
4x100 pull
8x50 drill
2x100 FAST (well, for me - slow for most others)
4x50 Hard
200 c/d

After the pool, I moved down to the weights, and put in about an hour on the machines. It was packed today - school holidays started here, and everyone seems to want to spend them in the weight room. Oh well.
