Good morning (or afternoon depending) to all.

Sounds like it's been summer for quite a while for most of you. Here it's still pretty much ideal conditions, low of 50°, high of 80°, just like the southern ca beach area without the June fog.

3.8 easy miles in the woods this morning. Wore my oldest pair of trail shoes with about 380 miles on 'em for the first time in 2 months, threw 'em in the trash post run. They felt a little stiff. They're around 9 months old, but who knows how long they were in the box before I bought em.

I wonder if Liams a grandfather yet?? When's Heme coming back??

Hi Johnny!

Still in MN here and enjoying the Oregon-like weather. Cool, breezy, low 50's. I did talk to DH earlier and he said it appears the light switch is flipping and it's going to be a hot one this afternoon and stay that way. he loves 90's, so I'll enjoy this cooler weather while I still have it.

went out for a short 2.5 mile run this morning, two days post marathon. just wanted to see how everything felt and I'm glad I did an ez run because I actually feel better now. I had some IT pain in the latter miles of the marathon on Saturday and doing stairs afterwards was a bit "wince-worthy" but I didn't have any more stiffness or soreness today.

I had a decent marathon for me. At first I thought I PR'd with my time of 4:16:53 but then once some of the fog in my brain cleared, I realized I missed a PR by 5 seconds. Then of course, I felt like my bubble bursted and I was disappointed that I was so close. You go back and think "if only I would of . . . " but you can't do that. I really had a good time here and against the weather forecasters predictions, we had good conditions for running. Tailwind most of the race, low 50's, dry but overcast.

going back home in a couple days. I'm ready.

Hi Johnny!

I'm back..... nice to have been missed!

Hi Tamster!

Nice marathon....shame about the PR, but like you said, it sounded like a good time was had.

The Cape was mostly cold and a bit rainy, which would have been perfect for running. If I could have really run, that is..........

Managed three slow and creaky outings, working all the way up to..................wait for it............................... 3 miles of 3:1's.

Sheesh!

Sucks being knocked all the way back to newbie territory, but so far to calf is cooperating (with the help of compression socks). What was hurting was everything else, but in a good way, courtesy of lots and lots of walking barefoot in the sand.

Will need to hit the gym big time, as I indulged a bit too much with the kahlua-laced coffee, fried seafood (yes Mike, at the Beachcomber!), beer and ice cream. The closest I got to vegetables were the coleslaw and sweet potato fries, and for fruit.......the lime in the margarita's.

Hey. Glad you're back, Heme, sounds like fun and glad the calf mostly cooperated. Don't rush the recovery though.

That's hot, ks. No matter which way you look at it. I'd be running inside on the TM in that heat.

Have fun in Minnesota Tammy! Enjoy that weather while you have it.

Ran our Midnight Sun Run 10k on Saturday night, 46:00 flat which is pretty cool. Second fastest time for that distance/course (last year was a PR) and first in AG. Conditions were perfect at 10 p.m with temps in upper 60's and the sun shining brightly. I love this race, perfectly flat and fast, just getting really crowded for our town. Over 3,000 registered, and I think 2,900 finished. A LOT of walkers but a good 25% of the field is there to run and place.

Raining today, but headed to the gym for lunch and will RAW.

Hi Tamster....Great job on your marathon ..... 5 seconds, it certainly appears you're consistent................now when are you going to get serious about training ??? (rolling fingers on table)

Glad to hear you had a great trip Heme, don't get too overanxious about returning to running though, when I tore my calf muscle I came back too soon and re-injured it.......BTW your vacation diet sounds like mine from 30 years ago. I used to just love the Kahlua coffee. Now I don't drink either one 'em.

Congrats on the AG win, Erika!

Ran/walked the 5K course I'm trying to lay out for our company's United Way run this fall. Will have to make some adjustments to the route, as I came up a bit short. Like the both of you, the calf reminded me not to push it..... 5:1 were right on the edge of too much.

Hey everyone. Johnny - guess you're recuperating from MIL? :)
Welcome home Heme. Sounds like you had a good time.

Erika - you're running so well right now. Glad I don't have to race you.

Tamster - I tracked you at Grandma's but the times they sent were elapsed times from the gun/start. I didn't know what time you started so I never knew if you were on 4 hour or 5 hour pace. Looks like you ran a good race. I'd like to hear about the course.

Liam, bubba, irun, happyfeat - what up?

Well I finally ran tonight. 8 miles w 600 at 5k pace with 200 recoveries. Still 82 degrees out with heat index at 96. Winds are just blasting through. I'm about ready to get out of TX.

Thanks KS. I'll write something up on the race. probably when I get home though, so not until the latter part of this week. I really enjoyed the course alot and thought for a large marathon, it was real top notch in efficiency. It is one I'd definitely run again if I lived here, but I only fly back to MN about once every 5 yrs. I started near the 4:15 group and I think I actually started running about 7:39, but they must have gotten a late start to begin with because my garmin was always about 3 minutes off from clock times that I'd see on the course once inawhile.

Yeah, right, well... I appreciate the sentiment, so thanks. It's been a lot of fun, and I'm surprised (really!) by how good I feel. Got one more this weekend, and details will come later. Special thanks to Tammy and Mariposai for keeping things under the hat, so to speak. I've been constructing a pretty neat (in my opinion) race report for this month...
