Morning all. Mike how did your marathon go?

13 ez miles this morning. Weather guesser said the wind and small cold front would come in about 6 a.m. My wife dropped me off at 5:15 for a run home South to North. About5 miles into the run the wind went from 0 to 40-50 mph from the north and then started raining. jtwili!!!! Some of those gusts were so cold it took my breath away. Wind died down now and it's still 65 degrees.

Heck of a run, KS. You could have used a sail.

The marathon went ok. It was on and off rain/sleet/snow - mostly off, and the pavement just stayed wet. Wind picked up for the second loop and I felt like I was fighting it most of the way. At mile 18, at the crest of a hill, 30 mph gusts hit me and the sustained wind was 10-15. Anyway, I'm pleased that I kept a happy attitude and just shuffled along. But at 25.5, I turned a corner, starting to climb a minor hill, and the wind hit me a again and I just couldn't stop from stopping. I knew I only had 0.7 left but I needed to collect myself. Walked for about 1 minute and then resumed. I finished in 3:50:05. 120 out of about 385 total, 12/37 in the M50-59 AG. Couldn't stop shivering when it was all over for the longest time. And all the 1/2 marathoners finished all the clam chowder before I had a chance. (There were like 4000 1/2'ers.) Anyway, that's #9 in the books. Now I have to figure out a way to get ready for a 5K in 2 weeks and a 1/2 a week later in NYC. Who put this schedule together?!

OM, I think you have a friend who ran this too (Hyannis Marathon/1/2 Marathon). How'd she make out?

Wow Mike. Sounds like horrible conditions to run in. I just hate wind more than anything in a race. You should be recovered in time for the 5k and in great shape for a half.

Hang in there Tom. Our snow birds got a rude awakening a couple weeks ago. Now they're happy again just in time to go home.

Tough race for you, Mike, congrats! I just looked at the results, and I can't find my friend listed anywhere, very odd... he's usually a very speedy runner, in the 50-54 AG, but I keep looking for his name and can't find it. Maybe I was wrong as to which race he was running? Oh well...

Well, my sneakers finally dried out and and sun is out here, so I had a very, if not overly, sunny run today. Three miles out and two miles back (walked the remaining mile). I keep pretending my leg isn't injured but I think I have to stop doing that.... At least I got 5 good miles in for the close of the month. :)

Hi everybody. Limited time at the library so I have to make a quick post. I have somehow turned into one of those crazy runners that gets up in the middle of the night (6 am) to run. Last 3 days I have been off by 7 am including the race. I was happy until I saw the results and seen I was only 25 seconds from winning my age group. I lost time with my hammie between 5-7 miles and could have pushed a lot harder the last couple but it wasn't a goal race and I didn't want to do some real damage. With my quads, calf and ankle sore, I hardly noticed my hammie this morning. After 9 miles yesterday basically doing the race course again while the half marathon was going on, I did 8 this morning somewhere in southern Georgia. It was a PeanutButterJelly special (8 mles 60:00 finish before 8 am)off for some more car time so I make it home sometime tuesday.

6.4 miles in the cold rain and icy/muddy roads early this morning, before heading off with my best friend to go quilt fabric and X-country ski shopping for the day.

Hiya KS! 6 pleasant miles for me tonight. I feel guilty for enjoying such mild weather - temps in low 30's, no wind or precip at all. It was quite peaceful, other than trying to run away from my stress - successfully, I must add.
