Morning peeps

Mom- Way to go on the race!

RA- Thats freakin awesome.

I tried to post yesterday, guess the web gobbled it up. No run for me yesterday, but I did lounge around in the pool and swam a few laps... I feel like someone hit me between the shoulders with a sledge hammer... not sure if its from the swim or what.

Well, I'm headed back to work tonight, so I need to get back on some sort of 'normal' schedule. Gonna head out for a run here in a bit, then we are off car shopping for DW... <sigh>. DD is doing great, she slept for 4 hrs straight last night and I had to wake her up just to feed her, then she konked right back out! We had tons of problems w/ DS. He never slept.

Probably will hit 5-6 easy miles this am

Good morning all.

BBS - have a great run later. Glad the family is doing better.

kfuller - Enjoy that run.

Me - Well my longest swim to date. 2700 meters following that black line. I took splits every 600 meters. why 600 meters? I do well counting to 12, anything much longer than that I start to lose count. Anyhow, my splits were: 11:02, 10:44, 10:42, 10:43, and the last 300 meters were 5:28. It felt good and I think I could have easily kept going. I am getting much more confident on being able to complete the Ironman swim with a descent time. Lunchtime run later.

Happy training everyone!

Dave- Nice job on the swim.

I got out for a nice 5 miles in 42:07(8:25). I am hoping for much better results this weekend in a downhill 8k race. 90% is downhill and the rest is an uphill finish. It is a great race. Have a great morning everyone.

BBS - Thanks. Hope your boy adapts to not being the center of attention all the time. Must be tough for him (and hence you and your wife).

Dave - looks like your training is going very well.

kfuller - nice job on the 5'er. My quads are aching just thinking about a downhill race like that.

SRD for me. My legs are a bit achy and I'm just plain ole tired. I thought We had my niece's baptism yesterday afternoon and social afterwards. DD did not nap and so we had a bedtime meltdown; then she didn't sleep well. Hopefully, we'll get back in schedule today.

No real RR but so summarize: I'm very happy with my race performance yesterday. Not only did I managed to get the 1:28 monkey off my back but I pulled it off while not feeling too good. My legs were tight early on, probably due to a lack of warmup, and I had visions of a collapse. However; I held on and I gave it all I had in the closing miles - initially I thought I'd blown it after mile 10 on a long incline and again in the last 1/2 mile as my energy ebbed and flowed but I kicked hard. At the end I could see the clock ticking down and knew I had to push to squeak out the PR.

I ended up not running yesterday as I devoted my day to yard work, reclaiming a planting bed that had been overtaken by weeds. Got rid of them all, turned the soil, put down some fresh compost...now I just need to plant some things in there before the weeds come back.

Great day here today...clear and cooler. Tomorrow should be the same and that bodes well for my evening 5k race. No idea what I can do for a 5k right now, since I haven't run one since last August. As for today, I'm looking at an easy 5 or so with some strides at the end.

BBS - so much for paternity leave. Hope you got to enjoy it while it lasted. Have a good run later.

Kevin - nice job on your 5

Dave - I think my arms would fall off if I tried to swim that far. I am so bad at swimming.

RA - enjoy the rest day, you certainly earned that.

BBS--yep. It's tough for the big brother. He used to be the center of attention and now everyone is giving the new baby all the attention and gifts. That sucks! Hopefully you can squeeze in some time to take him fishing.

David--counting to 12?! What's up with that??? I'm doing good to count to 10 for sets of 500.

Usual Monday in the fishbowl. 2500meters of following the black line. On the way home I dropped Sapphire off at the bike shop. She was scheduled for her regular tune up. Need to have the frame checked out. Last weekend at the race as I was racking her the rack collapsed on her. Hoping the damage is just cosmetic.

It is a strange number to use. It came from last week when I did 2400, 600 worked well as it made 4 equal splits. I just carried it over to this week so I could compare the splits.

BBS- are there pictures?

Yesterday we went bike riding. I am a very poor bike rider, so I was determined to show my kids it wasn't so hard. I managed to make it around the 1.25 mile loop at the park. A far cry from y'all's biking acheivements. But it did give my daughter confidence to ride the loop, too. When she wasn't looking, I fell and whacked my knee pretty good.

Today was an esy 6.3 mile run on the greenway. Then we hung out at the pool for awhile. My DD is a pleasure to watch in the pool. She is all muscle and bone and sunshine.

Hi all!

BBS - Congratulations on that beautiful little girl!! I love the photo, and I think the sleepless nights are so worth it.

Congratulations RA on kicking that 1:28 HM monkey. Well done.

congrats as well to 4bm on the ag win.

And hello, hello, hello to everyone else.

Loopy and I met up to run on the Appalachian Trail yesterday, along with some others. I got in 4hrs40min on the trails, he ran something like 6.5 hrs. Still running mostly trails, adding in 2 days of early morning roads during the week. This base training is going really well, I've been averaging between something like 25-30 trail miles throughout the weekends. Still nothing on the horizon race-wise, just taking it easy and having fun (if you can call 17-20 mile trail runs easy.)

Jebba - You have to start somewhere on the bike. I go with DW once a week or so and we don't do anything more than 5 miles and at a very leasurely speed of about 5 - 7 mph. Great job getting out there on the bike and for your run this morning.

Midday run done. A very pleasant 72, sunny and breezy. I could get used to this. But the 90s will be back in a couple of days.

5.53 miles total, according to the Garmin. Basically I did 5 at about an 8:10/mile pace then immediately after the beep I did 4 x 30 second striders with 30 second recoveries in between. So that's where the .53 comes from.
