Good morning everyone. Looks like I get to start this morning. I am getting ready for 5-6 miles this morning at an easy pace. It should feel good and wake up my body.

4BM- good luck at the DMV, if they're anything the same as the ones down here, you'll need it

it is now 75 and early in the morning. I got in 5 miles in 43:08(8:38). It was a tough 5 miles this morning. The early morning heat is doing a number on me. Nice job on the resting and plans for running.

Dan/Jill- enjoy the rest

I could tell in my warm-up that todays run was not going to be great. I kept true to the 1 mile of hill repeats, but never fully recovered from them and called it quits after 4 miles total. Last week was pretty taxing for me. Hopefully I can get through tomorrows speed session ok, then I can kinda coast the rest of the week into my race.

I'm taking another rest day as my hip is still bothering me after my long run on Saturday. No run yesterday but I was supporting DW in her first HIM in Racine WI. I managed to trudge at least 2 miles on the beach (to / from swim start) carrying a whole bunch of crap. Then spent the next 6 or so hours standing around supporting DW and her training group, including SIL's husband. I have a nice farmer's tan/burn.

Dave and 4boysmom will appreciated this. DW came in at 5:44 (swim 37, bike 2:59, run 2:02). I'm very proud of her as the conditions for the run were brutal. It was overcast and a cool 70F early on but the sun came out and it was blazing hot by late morning. Then, as DW came off the bike, a massive rainstorm blew through the finish/transition area. It cooled off then there was 5-10 mins of torrential rain and howling winds then blazing sun again. A lot of folks wilted on the run as there was no shade. Craig Alexander won the mens race in impressive style (3:48). Actually, he was a close 2nd at the run out with a few guys close by but won by 8 minutes with a 1:15 HM, which would have been faster had he not stopped near the finish, kissed his wife and jogged in with his daughter! Talk about a run clinic. We got a picture with him later. Very cool guy as he hung out for hours after he finished (barely breaking a sweat). He's actually appearing locally tonight. Chrissie Wellington is in town next Monday.

Went to The Sourcer's Apprentice last night. Started my long run at 10:30pm and didn't finish until a quarter past midnight.

Half marathon in 1:45 and change. Average 8:04 per mile and closed in 7:36. My second fastest ever.

Give me a proper taper, a cool race morning, and an easy course and I might be able to take off the 3 minutes needed for a new pr. That's for late fall, Right now I am ramping up for a fall marathon and this was a step back week.

Good luck everybody.

Nice job, Plugging Along. And great job to Mrs. RA!

I managed 8 miles. It wasn't too hot (about 80*), but very, very humid. My sunglasses kept steaming up.

Good afternoon all, resting here too. Just chores around the house tonight for me -- fun stuff like folding laundry, paying bills, etc. But I've got a busy training week planned ahead.

Jill, I've really got to go read your report. It sounds like you did great! No surprise there of course.

4bm - I bet DMV people hold a national convention every year in a secret location just to figure out how to best be annoying and inefficient. So glad VA has online registration and renewal for most things...I did have to go there when we moved though a couple years ago.

PA - that's some late long run there...nice job!

RA - nice job crewing for DW yesterday. Sounds like you both had a great time and she brought her A game (I already congratulated her on FB).

BBS - tough day but at least you got out there. I'm probably looking at some hill repeats later this week.

kevin - nice job on the AM run

jebba - hope the Y run was good

Dan - enjoy the rest day, glad to see you making progress. :)

Finished out the day with quite the enjoyable walk at the metropark with the hound. The hound had a blast with all the bunny smells! Distance unknown, but we walked (okay, the hound darted back and forth!) for about an hour.

Hubby was cleared by his doctor to return to work! He got a handicap decal at the DMV. He was all set to go when he got a call from work. He has to by cleared by the company doctor first. Hopefully tomorrow......
