you're kidding me?? It's 9:15 WEST COAST time and no daily???

did I not get the memo that we were taking the day off?

Johnny, sorry to hear of your friend. I hope you have a nice visit with him this week.

I had a nice afternoon yesterday visiting with my parents, picking some veggies from her garden, getting my aerodynamic new hair style . . .

Will RAW, probably at the high school track. Low 90's today. I was hoping for a bit more reprieve from the hot temps lately though.

Tamster, really? This is the daily? Wow...

I never got on here yesterday, but I did catch up a bit on the weekend's doin's by seeing that Dove ran 40.5 miles on Saturday and 10 more on Sunday... Amazing, grrl.

Labduck, that restaurant sounds awesome. Next time we head to Portland I'll ask you for a reminder of the name...

I ran 14.2 miles yesterday, lost about 6 lbs from start to finish! Oy. I was not expecting it to be so hot and dry... forecast was for upper 60's with showers. Ha. Didn't have a speck of shade or rain the whole way and temps got up to almost 75! May seem cool to many of you, but it was hot for me. Still, while I felt tired by the end there was no crash like last weekend so that was good.

Probably a rest day for me. I brought no gear for run or workout and DH has my car. I'm kind of stranded here today...

it's nice and warm in my world tamster.

4mi ez 8:30-ish recovery. legs toast from yesterday's run + bike.

hope you come out of racing retirement, labduck. todd h., one of my running pals, just dropped his 5k from 17:30's to 16:59 in two months by dropping 8 lbs... and that 16 was at our time trial in 87f. hopefully he'll rock that portland 5k. and gosh darnit, he's inspiring me to drop 8lbs in the next 8 weeks.

i'm thinking about dropping astronomy and becoming a lawyer. i never would have guessed that when my ex-w divorced me that i'd end up learning so much about our legal system. besides, getting paid 6 times my current hourly salary wouldn't be so bad. now that our arguments about custody are over... well, after the court gets the typo fixed in their ruling... it's time to move on to her next drama; the one about how she's getting remarried next weekend, but trying to hide it from me so that the spousal support payments don't stop. sigh.

Hang in there Mcsolar. I hope protosun likes the new guy.

Thanks for getting the day started, Tammy. Yay for the westcoasters picking up the east coast's slack!

I ran 6.5 miles this morning but had hopes of doing 8. The first 3 miles I felt zapped and when I hit the park there were signs warning about an aggressive mountain lion being in the area in which I was headed. That was all I needed to hear to make me turn around and head home. Energy level perked up the last 2 miles so at least I ended in good shape.

Finn, I saw a recent picture of you. You are svelte and fantastic.

How about you, chooves! Running like a lionness.

Great LR, evanf. I hear you on the "heat." Now you have me curious as to whether I lose weight during a run. I'm not a big sweater.

Tammy, I too have a new aerodynamic 'do. I also have some pink and yellow velcro rollers for OAITW that will wrap around the strands and may never come out of the maelstrom that is my hair.

Morning, sweaty Econo.

Speaking of maelstroms ... {{{mc and proto}}} Having been a witness to the adversarial system for over 20 years, no, you don't wanna. You'll never get close to inner peace that route, if that is what you seek ... although Opie seems to have done pretty well.

I just celebrated 31 years tickling the ebonies. Holy smoly, am I ever old and in the way!

90' yin. Ahhhhhh.

Rather flexible man in class today with a Vancouver Island Spine Relay shirt on. I wonder if I could be old and in his way.

We had amazing thunderboomer downpours here this morning, then everything evaporated back up in the sunshiny atmosphere. I didn't check the numbers, but I'm sure it's close to you-breathe-you-drown humidity levels. Regardless, I got an email from a new running fren I met in the park last week (I made a friend, yay!) around 11am, saying she was heading out to the park and would I like to join her. So I did. Ran 1.3 miles my regular pace up and down the hills to meet her at the park, then about 3.3 miles at her slower pace, ending at her house. Chatted and tanked up a bit, then finally ran home from there. 6.1 miles in total.

Turns out there's a local running club that meets Tuesday evenings at 6pm at the park all through the summer. I may go tomorrow, even though I tend to feel intimidated by the "real" runners there. It's time I outgrew that, methinks....

Oh, and I finally got on the scale today, having built up the courage to handle whatever number it showed me. It was a BIG number, and not a nice one, at that. MrOM has been doing Weight Watchers and I'm actually contemplating joining him in that venture. But I have issues with joining groups (can you tell the theme here today?). We'll see...

Sorry - this east coaster did not have time to start the daily this morning after my morning run. I had pancakes to cook and get to the beach!

61' of running this morning. Pretty humid here, but felt sproinkier than yesterday's run.

I need to lose a few lbs too. All my clothes are feeling a little tight in the waist.

And I won't be able to lose weight if I keep eating popcorn at the movies! I took today off work as I have tons of unused vacation time. We slept an extra 45 minutes this morning then took a spin class from my favorite instructor. then we hurried home & changed and went to see the new movie Inception, which confused the heck out of me. But it was pretty cool, I must admit. Anyway, I plowed through a medium sized buttered popcorn so now I really shouldn't eat for the next 4 days (but I will).

McSolar, I'm from a family of lawyers (my daughter included). I still got raked over the coals in my divorce, 10 years ago. The only good thing was that the whole process was so awful that I lost a lot of weight quickly; unfortunately I gained it all back a year later. I'm sending lots of strong energy your way.

Hi all,

Nice LR, Erika. Great reps, Gobi. I have to catch up on the w/e's exploits,

I've been offline since Thurs. DW, DD and I spent the w/e on the Cape of Cod (who know's the reference?) celebrating my 54 years on the planet. Good times eating raw shellfish and fdrinking beer and slathering on 45 every so often. It was tough today hanging up the flip flops and shorts for work attire.

I ran for the first time in about a week yesterday, nakid, so I estimate 5 miles. I did another 5 miler today. The 8:10, 8:10 and 8:01 miles felt like hard tempo pace, so my fitness has slipped a little, but not too bad. The good news is that the hammy isn't complaining much.

I trust JJJ knew just what to do (strapped down the kilt) and we'll hear from him shortly.

Belated Happy Birthday, Irun!!!

Now how on earth did I miss the fact that Dove ran 40 miles on Saturday? Wow!

OM.... go! I think you'll find that you're as much of a "real" runner as the rest of them.

And what's happening with JJJ?

12 miles on the bike after work, for only my second ride of the season, still searching for a nice long, beginner friendly road. Gawd, am I rusty!

I'm getting my hair cut nice and short for racing on Friday. If my wife won't cut it that short for me, I'm going on craig'slist for a flowbie.

jjj - come in.

Mike - Happy Birthday in your bd suit?

Ran 5.5 along the river today, and I'll say it was around 90 or so, but not nearly as humid as it has been, and there was a breeze as well. Almost jtwwli.

I found out that there are only two other entries in my AG in the 10,000 Meters on Friday; unfortunately they will lap me enough times to make me think there are many more of them. One guy is a 16:40 something 5k guy and the other is a 38 something 10k guy, and I am going to be the just try to run 6:59.9 pace so when my name is in print I can hold my head high guy. In the discus, I have one guy to beat in order to earn a bronze, and the other two entries - well, there is an outside chance...like they could throw all fouls...or they could get lost on the way to Buffalo...or they could eat too many wings at the Anchor Bar on Thursday night.
