2.28 yesterday with the dog and the kid. re: my knee.. the doctor hasn't had anything to say b/c i haven't gone yet. doh. i really should go.. and i shoulda gone when my sister was here so she could watch AK. in the meantime, i'm just going to start ramping things up. if its a no go, i'll take the rest of the summer off to rehab and scrap NYCM. kind of a do or die plan (not the smartest, but what the hell). although, i promised myself a while ago that i would never run a marathon on half-ass training - so i'm not sure how things will play out. surely, if my knee cooperates, i can still ramp up and get in maybe one 18 miler and maybe two 16ers but to me, thats not optimum training, its just enough to get me to the finish line and that doesn't sit well with me.

then again, things have changed drastically since i made that resolution. maybe this "half ass" marathon training will be my new baseline. i just simply don't have the time to put in the volume like i used to...so perhaps i need to change my baseline and my expectations. either that or stick to half marathons (which i love anyhow) for the meantime. i just wanted to be.... THAT woman. know what i mean? THAT one who came back 8 months after having a baby, finished boston triumphantly, then trained hard over the summer and PR'd in the fall. heh. welp, seeing as running is not my full time job and i can't be kara goucher/deena kastor, i guess i have to adjust and do the best i can!
