Umm, is this possible? I never in my life started a daily thread, and never thought I will... but this morning I couldn't sleep, so I geared up and went out for my walk at 5:30ish. I figured there would be an active daily thread by the time I came back, but....
WAKE UP SLEEPYHEADS!!!
2.54 miles with some hills added on the wise Sans Sauci's advice. Nice and cozy 3C out there with no wind or rain. I'll take it...
Now to shower, then let the back to school madness begin!
good day all,
Good morning Jura. Glad you had a nice walk. 3C is cozy? 69 degrees here this morning with a light sprinkle during a 6 mile run @ 5:30 a.m. (TX time).

Wow I can't believe that it's 9:45am and only 1 other person has posted so far!

This morning I did 40 minutes of killer elliptical with the arm thingies too, and 15 minutes cool down & stretch. Tomorrow I'll be running again.

Have a great day, everyone. Beware those "meat pies", we saw Sweeney Todd last night!

Thanks for starting, jura. You're up early. Just think, the Beers do that every day.

2000 recovery yards in the pool this morning. Too bad it's not a running day for me... it's going up to the seasonally preposterous temperature of 63F today.

My kids' cultural horizons continue to expand. Fresh from learning that the Rolling Stones were not American, they now understand that Humphrey Bogart did not play the original "Batman". Seventy-one-year-old CassAA sits on the veranda at the Old Scientists' Retirement Home and Fitness Spa next to seventy-year-old emcee and says, "Good thing you didn't leave it all out on the roads that week before Phoenix. Hey, you done with that swimsuit issue of GeezerJock yet?"

FF, congratulations! He's a cutie!

Hi jura!

ksrunr, I dreamed that you were being threatened by a rabid gopher. I told the gopher, "Oh no you don't, he has an important race coming up!" Still he advanced menacingly (well, as menacing as a gopher can be). So I took the fall for you. It was scary enough to wake me up at 2 a.m.

No AT pain or stiffness.
I hope it lasts.

It was 60 here - and I was out the door at 4:45. 4 miles in 44. Run was ok, but I can tell I'm upping the mileage - the old knees and quads are starting to get a tad sore. But it's a good sore.

Glad the AT is getting better millbot.

OK, I take everything back what I said about our weather. Cozy? Well, it felt like it at the time, but just an hour after I came back from my walk, I was saying goodbye to DD2 at the door and noticed that the ground was covered with fresh snow like it was sprinkled with icing sugar! Where the heck did this come from? Now to leave extra time for cleaning the car and slippery roads... I am glad I am done with my walk today.
Hi, Millbot! Yay for your run without AT pain! Nice warm-up.
Hehe Dave...
Careful with the ramping up, Anachrotech.
I wanted to take advantage of the weather as already mentioned by Cassy and anachro, but I'm still not sure if my leg is just "good sore" or it's an injury. So a day off can't hurt (literally or figuratively).

And congrats to FlyingFinn on making grandmotherhood! The baby is a cutie for sure.

WTG Jura, 2.5 miles with some hills!!!.
Millbot- great to hear that you were able to fit in 9 healing miles without any AT problem.
gin79 and anachrotech...spring like temp?...should I say I am dreaming for high temps like you are enjoying..

I will be running after work today, but I did fit in one hour of XT this morning. I used with my new exercise ball given to me by DH for Xtmas. The routine I started today involved upper body, lower body and core exercise. “Stronger for life” is going to me my mantra this year”. One hour of this and I feel so good.

Good on ya, mariposai! Jura, I hope the 5:30 am walk is not due to stress. Speaking of stress -- millbot, ks is gonna be OK -- he'll rock that course! CassinAA; yup, I am sending mellow vegan drum circle vibes to emcee. (duuuuuude!)

45 min in the pool; a good session with my new swim buddy Deb.

Good Morning Kicksters! Jura thanks for starting, it's great to see you posting and cranking in some miles again, wtg! Mike good job on getting thru this injury. Jessee, rest rest rest, you have certainly earned it.

This morning is going to be a big test day with the snow shoes. I spent the evening last night prepairing a pack with the new equiptment and other things that I might need in case there is a problem. Fully loaded, which also includes camera w/75-300mm lens, first aid and emergency supplies etc. weights in at 10 pounds. This is only about 4 pounds over my fully loaded fanny pack.

The main focus of this experiment is layering which will be more important than when I am just doing straight running on the road in cold temps as there will be sections where there will be much more body heat. Under these circumstances, getting wet is not a good idea and conditions could change drastically in a short time.

Good Runs All, Larry

Econo- you are the inspiration for my 2008 mentra!!! Right after our chat the other night I went to my journal and wrote our "focus" points for our spring marathon and :Stronger for life: is what came to mind as a tittle. Thank you sisstahh.

Sal, I can't wait to read about your skiing adventures. We missed you around here while you were gone. Just watch out for the "carbo-depleted" monster who is lurking around here.

Emcee! Add 1/3 cup oats once a day, 1/3 cup brown rice twice a day and 1 med yam daily to that diet; it won't compromise what you're trying to do but will actually aid the goal.

FF - Congrats!!

Hi Jura!!

Welcome back Sally.

Roch, sounds like a wise choice. If the footing there is anything like it is here; it's deceptive and very icy in places. You don't need to be going for a spill on an already sore leg.

Larry - everything you do always sounds cool.

7 miles ez - veeeeeerrryyy slow on the icy avenues.

one red scarf

Happy activity all,
Millbot - thanks for covering my back for me. Sorry you had to go thru a nightmare like that to save me. I'll be on the lookout for gophers all week. By the way - did the gopher look anything like emcee?
