Wake up everyone.

10.07 miles of hills @ 9:11 pace. A foggy start to the day here but I realy can't complain about the weather, it's been great so far this winter.

Nice running yesterday, especially the racers.

Good morning Kickstars,

I feel pretty good, maybe better than that.
I feel like I've finally recovered from that #%^&*@, I mean that wonderful 5K on NYD.
Feet/ankle are better than usual.
Weather dreary, but life is goot.
First rest day I don't feel like I need in a while.
Maybe a 2 mile walk if i get round to it.

Rest
day
ahh
An easy 3.2 miles as the day's snowfall was just starting. Finished before it got too slippery, so a good way to start off the work week.

The pushup challenge begins, everyone! Post your pushups in SS' training weekly!

Mustang, I was thinking this morning: A three minute 8K PR is a big deal. The fact that your race was on the same weekend as some longer races is no reason to downplay your accomplishment. Your penance: Step out onto your porch, stand tall with hands on hips, and shout, "Hey, I just ran my best 8K ever, a three-minute PR! I rock!" Then go buy yourself some new running gear.

Good run, Peter.

Good resting, JJJ.

7 easy miles, ankle is okay (knock on wood)

Edit: Did you see that the KR running log is now live? It's not 100% finished, so if you decide to use it, post your feedback in the Running Log Forum.

Six easy recovery miles this morning. I ran Ash hill x2 plus a few strides to stay ahead of the snow plow.
Off to work now.

Happy recovery to the last weekend racers.

Talk about the effect fo peer preasure. During lunch today... I miss...I hate doing push ups...succumbed into the unthinkable and did 10 girl push ups and 3 boy style. Why do men always have to make things much harder?
I added so weights, plunks and launches while I was at it.

Bill, I don't know Pedro, is he a PCA member?

BTW...the PCA is holding the Porsche Parade 2008 in Charlotte this year. Registration opens on Mar.11 on the website. It's a huge event and there's rumor that Porsche AG will be bringing Porsche No.1...the first P car made.
If you're planning on being here for the week long festivities, let me know & we'll do some running together.

Good Morning Kicksters!

Nice runs there Peter, Millbot, Roach, MariP. Scheduled rest day for me today, which works out well since its snowing pretty hard up here right now. I picked up a nasty chest cold over the w/e. I felt it coming on but decided to do my LR anyway yesterday (14 miles, 2:02:32, 8:45 pace). Well, that run knocked me on my a$$ for the rest of the day. I think I'm just gonna curl up into a little ball and go back to sleep now.

Sally, congrats on your PR. 3 minutes in an 8K is huge!

ttfn,
Mike

I'm going out for a dash now and I'm gonna yell "Sally roooooohhhhhhcks" from the highest point. (millbot, you're a prince.)

Hey, doodz at the top, does that car come in a hybrid? Bonger, I've been thinking about you and wishing I was on your VRAA team so I could harass you in the nicest way possible.

Mike, really, take it easy, would ya? You too, JJJ.

Aija is gonna kick some serious boo-tay in this competition. Just watch.

I'm on his team and would be glad to pass on a message or kick him in his super mega bad ass for you.

MS is not allowed to enter a single pushup into her spreadsheet until she posts a RR that we can all reply to--a big PR at the particularly painful 8k distance calls for a collective celebration, possibly involving a conga line of dancing bananas.

I thought about yesterday's racers and outstanding training runs as I swam 3000 yards this morning. One set of 5x(100 hard, 50 EZ) on a 3:00 cycle, with the 100s in 1:35, 1:34, 1:33, 1:31, 1:30. Then 35 min of the usual core and PT exercises, plus *** pushups.

Enjoy your rest jjj.
All take care and have great runs or rests.

Aaw, t'anks, youse guys. Trust me, I'm gloating aplenty. I've been doing the happy groove, singing "37:16" (what my watch said) and dancing around the house.

Hey, Ken. I'm making it up as we go along.

This was the original idea:

Pushup Challenge!

Because I can't do more than, like, four of what SS calls "Plank Pushups" (and I call "manly pushups" without falling on me face.

So: For the remainder of the month of January 2008, I will issue the following points.

Knee-pushup (previously "girly" - .5 point performed by a man, 1 performed by a woman.

Plank-pushup (previously "manly" - 1 point performed by a man, 2 by a woman.

Chinup - 2 points for a man, 4 for a woman. Grip doesn't matter.

Static yoga-type chaturanga stuff will make my head explode. Extrapolate if you wish, just don't tell me about it.

The winning man and woman will each get $50 donated in their name to the Flat-Coated Retriever Foundation in memory of ol' Storm.

So report your pushups in the weekly, and I'll calculatize 'em.

Hi Sally!!! Way to rock that 8km - they really are a bear to run - and you were fan-tab-u-lous!! And Econo? Simply stunning - what an awesome performance!! Wicket awesome way to smash that PR! Also can't wait to read some marathon RRs. Woot!

EZPZ 7.5 miles at 8:40/mile for me so far. Legs are kind of weary from yesterday, but isn't that "just the way we like it"?

I'll jump on the Mustang Bandwagon this morning too. I remember a crappy run she had just prior to her race and how discouraged she sounded. Then she bangs out a HUGH PR! We should all have weeks like that!

0715
30 degrees
17 mph wind
8 miles

I followed with a quick 15 minutes of stretching, crunches, and yes, pushups. I have to really watch a painful right elbow so I did 4 sets of 10 girlie pushups from my knees but with elbows tucked next to my sides. I really don't care much for pushups and am only doing this for Dear Storm.

I hope our marathoners are feeling okay this morning!

Good Morning kicksters! Thanks for starting peter. Sally I agree with everyone else, 3 minute pr on a difficult course...You Rock!

No coffee this morning! I had to pull out my secret stash of Morning Thunder tea, probably illegal in six states, to get my morning shot of caffiene in preparation for a nice run this morning. 28 degrees, sun is shinning the roads are snowpacked, no ice.

Good Runs All, Larry

way to get out and beat the snow roch....good run

nice easy 7 for millbot, 6 for mari, and 5 for lynden...good outings gang

good swim AA,,,,I'd need floaties to make it that far

Supposed to be a rest day for me, but I'm thinking of doing a short run this evening just because I can.

My hiking friends from Saturday just sent me the link to a few photos from the outing.. I'll post the link for anybody that wants to see what a typical hike in the Smoky Mtns of East Tennessee looks like. Pics are courtesy of my friends Betsy, Tom, and Stephanie who wandered up Mt. LeConte with me.
http://share.shutterfly.com/action/p...Aas27Rk4csmLrg

Hey Econo, emcee, Sal, others... how about posting the link to your RRs in the sticky thread at the top of the page so they remain easy to find?

#21 ·
What RR?

#22 ·
Gordon, you talk too much.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for MustangSally and Econo to be the Queen Goddesses of Kick-land this week! Yes, considering how carpy MS was feeling earlier, just awesome. And Econo, you already know I think you Rawk bigtime, but I'll say it again!

So starts an EZ week for me. Good thing cuz I'm tired. Gonna get my every-three-years bloodwork done tomorrow... DH says I'm cheating cuz I've been eating really "clean" (well, for me) this past week. No red meat in 8 days and cutting back (a bit) on the vino while upping strength training. We'll see how it comes out...

Pushups, eh? Well... Sorta like Choovie I'm not a huge fan, but I'll try. Any extra points for doing them with feet up on a stability ball??

Nice runs today! Ditto for me Sally! You are super speedy!!

Snow day today!! After shoveling the driveway, making 2 snow people, a snow Dachshund and a pretty cool fort, I went for a 4 1/2 mile run. I love running after a snow storm. It's sooo pretty. First time I've been able to run 2 days in a row, with this calf issue, in a while. It felt good.

If DH gets home early, we are going to take the snow shoes out for a spin. Now off to run errands.

Sally - I'll echo the group! You ran a great race! Can I go outside, shout how awesome you are and go buy myself some new running clothes?

there were some great races this weekends! I can't wait to hear about KSrunr's also - and hear how his wife did.

Mill - thanks for the reminder about the running log. I'm anxious to check it out. I've been logging in my info at RA, but except for a few sporadic posts in the daily over there, that's really the only reason I log in over there - to input my running data. I'd prefer to do it all over here. Hope your ankle is feeling better.

I think I'll be passing on the push-up challenge. Probably not the wisest thing to do given my rotator cuff, but I'll pass it by my doc tomorrow when I see him to see if that would aggravate it or not. Never having had a rotator cuff injury, I didn't realize just how much you engage that area until you do something you take for granted (like trying to peel off a sweaty undergarment) and then you feel the twinges of "oops - that hurt!"

no running for me today. have a good day everyone.

#25 ·
oohhhhh I can do plank style pushups!! Of course, Souci can probably do more then me. But I'm in! Starting today I will do 60 a day. You heard it here.

Hey Econo, WTG on posting that link to your race

#26 ·

Yeah.... I second this request. (Not you Econo, I see you already have), it's hard enough over here trying to find RR's without having to look all over the place for links if you've been gone for a while and missed the daily.

Thanks in advance
