I do have a doctor's appointment at 4:15PM today to have my left hip flexor looked at. It just isn't right. Also, the outside of my left thigh is still a bit numb and doesn't feel right. Ugh, damn you indoor soccer!

...and the diagnosis is.....an inguinal hernia which I have been advised to have repaired as quickly as possible because that is what is causing the numbness in my thigh. SOB! I have to go see my family doctor tomorrow if possible. Looks like my post-Ironman recovery is going to take a little longer than anticipated.

Suck. I had that repaired many years ago, not a huge one, but no running. Why go to family doc? Why not direct to surgeon and get this booked?

Ran 1.5 miles to try out my NEW treadmill. DH asked me if having a treadmill meant | was going to run outside less. I looked at him like he had two heads and said of course not, this just means I can run more often! 75 minutes of masters swim this evening as well. Workout looks like an easy going one to get everyone back into the swing of things.

Silly boy! Some day he'll get it

Then 60 minutes in the pool. It was not a good swim, shared a lane with a guy who just kept throwing round houses at me and drifting all over. I had to speak with him once about it, I'm pretty sure I scared him somehow. Sorry dude.

I get that too sometimes, I don't try to be mean... but DUDE you hit me once, ok. Twice and I'm gonna sink you. Huh, maybe they don't like being sunk.
Then I found out where that other door from the shower goes. It opens into the pool, so I an easy swim. And no the lifeguard did not make me take a test or anything. New Year, new plan.

5 easy miles. Swim later. My hip has some soreness, my running volume is not that high with no serious speedwork. Mmmm... the only difference in training these days is no cycling. I wonder if lack of working on cycling muslces (more quads? hip muscles?) lead to this.. Mmmm. Interesting.

AMEN to kids in school... too bad both of mine were home sick today. And one probably tommorow. Ug.

And Yosh, seriously, think about what you just said in other words "Maybe a balanced strength problem would help reduce overuse injuries" - really? ;-p Seriously, what core work are you doing? That should be year round for any woman over 29 (I'm not saying ANYTHING more). You guys lose muscle so easy, especailly with such a small frame. You have to stay at it.

I think my workouts and my long work schedule has finally caught up with me. I ended up sleeping 10 hours last night. Very unusual for me to sleep that long. I will hit the weights later today.

Me too - 8 though, which is 60-90 min long. That's why I dont set an alarm clock any more. If I sleep late, it's because I needed it and the recovery is more necessary than the workout that morning. So I scramble to make up the workout later... sigh

WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO DUDE? Have you gotten a massage/chiro visit in? Drop the workouts and get to the preventative care. It's not like you're going to do any real good training all horked up like that. It'll mess with your form and then you're just throwing in junk miles.
