Good morning, TEAM LIT!

Welcome back to reality (for most of you)!

Me...

4 mile run early this chilly morning. Temp wasn't too bad but the steady wind made it brisk. Sluggish to start, which was to be expected (still recovering from running Boston course on NY's), and then settled into a decent enough workrate, but that was only because I turned back into the wind and had to generate some more heat.

DOR for me. Trying to get back into the regular swing of things with running and the like. Today's project is ruthlessly purging toys and stuff from Little BrewDad's room while he's at school. Less drama that way. His is our first improvement project during my time off....LEGO theme!

Snuck off early for 1500yds so I could get back and get kids to school... except both are sick. Crap. Ok, I shorted my swim for no reason. Blah

DOR....wanted to go running at lunch today, but my back is really sore. I do have a doctor's appointment at 4:15PM today to have my left hip flexor looked at. It just isn't right. Also, the outside of my left thigh is still a bit numb and doesn't feel right. Ugh, damn you indoor soccer!

Uphill Grind in a very cold garage this morning, 60 minutes of swimming on tap for tonight. Back is all horked up, can barely walk around today. Been about a week now and I'm ready to be done with the back pain.

DOR for me. I think my workouts and my long work schedule has finally caught up with me. I ended up sleeping 10 hours last night. Very unusual for me to sleep that long. I will hit the weights later today.

I am happy that the kids are back to school!

5 easy miles. Swim later. My hip has some soreness, my running volume is not that high with no serious speedwork. Mmmm... the only difference in training these days is no cycling. I wonder if lack of working on cycling muslces (more quads? hip muscles?) lead to this.. Mmmm. Interesting.

I added up total running miles in 2010. 1680miles. That is a jump from 1468miles in 2009. Sill, that is puny compared to Don's 3000miles.

some heavy lifting this morning at the Y followed by yoga. Then I found out where that other door from the shower goes. It opens into the pool, so I an easy swim. And no the lifeguard did not make me take a test or anything. New Year, new plan.

Hello!

I did a strength/core session this morning from various moves I've picked up over the years I thought were most of effective when I did them. I'll try to do the same thing 2 or 3 times a week. not sure how long it took.

Then 60 minutes in the pool. It was not a good swim, shared a lane with a guy who just kept throwing round houses at me and drifting all over. I had to speak with him once about it, I'm pretty sure I scared him somehow. Sorry dude.

I've been deliquent in this thread as of late so new year, new beginning. Ran 1.5 miles to try out my NEW treadmill. DH asked me if having a treadmill meant | was going to run outside less. I looked at him like he had two heads and said of course not, this just means I can run more often! 75 minutes of masters swim this evening as well. Workout looks like an easy going one to get everyone back into the swing of things.

...and the diagnosis is.....an inguinal hernia which I have been advised to have repaired as quickly as possible because that is what is causing the numbness in my thigh. SOB! I have to go see my family doctor tomorrow if possible. Looks like my post-Ironman recovery is going to take a little longer than anticipated.

Suck. I had that repaired many years ago, not a huge one, but no running. Why go to family doc? Why not direct to surgeon and get this booked?

AMEN to kids in school... too bad both of mine were home sick today. And one probably tommorow. Ug.

And Yosh, seriously, think about what you just said in other words "Maybe a balanced strength problem would help reduce overuse injuries" - really? ;-p Seriously, what core work are you doing? That should be year round for any woman over 29 (I'm not saying ANYTHING more). You guys lose muscle so easy, especailly with such a small frame. You have to stay at it.

Me too - 8 though, which is 60-90 min long. That's why I dont set an alarm clock any more. If I sleep late, it's because I needed it and the recovery is more necessary than the workout that morning. So I scramble to make up the workout later... sigh

WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO DUDE? Have you gotten a massage/chiro visit in? Drop the workouts and get to the preventative care. It's not like you're going to do any real good training all horked up like that. It'll mess with your form and then you're just throwing in junk miles.

3100y at masters swim this morning. New pool! New pool! New pool! New as in just completed in Nov 2010. The school swim teams have been using it since the end of November, but we were the first group of adults. Felt awesome!
