Morning gangstas

I start my 'tentative' half marathon training schedule today. But I am also training for an 11 mile trail race which brings me to today's workout -

I'm gonna head out to the toughest trail we have, called the red loop. I ran a race here earlier this year. Basically all you do is go up and down the bluff of the Mississippi river for 3 miles. I'm hoping it will help get me ready for the trails in Chattanooga.
Probably just one loop today, plus a warm up mile or so.

RA- nice job on the race dood. Could you feel any other Spidey senses? Try climbing any walls yet?

Morning all. Perfect riding conditions all weekend. Lows in the low 60's, highs in the mid 70's. Partly cloudy/overcast. No real winds to speak of, which is not typical for NW Ohio! Somehow, however, I just did not enjoy riding at all. Has me a bit concerned. Fri 85mi, Sat 86mi, Sun 107mi.

SRD for me. Right leg oddly sore (hamstring and calf). Left leg fine. Maybe from the road camber yesterday? I'm taking a sick day from work as I had some allergies yesterday afternoon when I took DD to the park. My nose was on fire and my sinuses are still not right today. Probably going to be bored senseless.

If you are interested here are my 5k/5M splits from yesterday

BBS - Thanks - no wall climbing abilities just yet but I may be able to make a web from the volume of snot coming out my nose. Enjoy those trails...

4boysmom - that's a whole lot of riding... a wee bit burnt out maybe?

4bm- Sounds like overtraining or as RA put it- burned out.

RA- Nice race.

BBS- Enjoy the run.

I got out for 5 miles today. My goal right now is to just go out and do some base building miles for a while. Take it easy and have fun with running. A long summer of training has me tired I believe. Have a great day everyone.

Hey all,

Long time no post...Internet access, at least by phone, is sometimes hard to come by in Vermont.

Anyway, last time you heard from me I was possibly coming to my senses and realizing I wasn't up to a half marathon just yet and that maybe I would drop down to the accompanying 5k race. All of which means, of course, that I ran the half.

And I ran it well, under the circumstances. The time of 1:41:56 is a mere shadow of what I can do at my best but I took it as a training run, ran at a relaxed effort the whole way, and the knee didn't act up once. For those reasons I was positively thrilled with how things went. Really it felt like I was rewarded for having the courage to stick to my guns after all. Oh and DW ran the 5k so it was a good day all around.

Recovering pretty well now, not surprising given it wasn't an all-out effort. Planning on a swim today. Back to running tomorrow.

BBS - have a blast with those trails

4bm - those are a couple of mighty long rides. Fatigue perhaps?

RA - smokin' HM time. Wow.

kevin - well done on the 5

10 miles easy for me today. The weather was quite nice. Got a little warm toward the end, but not too bad.

Who was it that did the Tough Mudder a few months ago? A friend of mine is asking if I want to sign up with her. I'm wondering what I'd be getting into. It's in Dallas March 31 or April 1.
