Good morning all.

Flounder - Nice recovery run.

Tonya - Oustanding run yesterday! I never said I didn't think you could do it. Just given you sugestions for tempo runs.

I had a nice tempo run this morning. 6 miles with a 4 mile progressive run in the middle (6:57 - 6:45 - 6:44 - 6:30) It felt pretty good to put some hard miles in.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I know I did especially with the Patriots getting knocked off last night!!

Tonya - personally I would like to see you running a MP = or better than 6:51.

For me MP is usually 20-25 seconds per mile slower than T-pace

So if T=6:00, MP would be 6:20-6:25. But that has to be true T-pace, many people run T = faster than true T.

Wow nice weekend Mike. I'm hoping that all the crap they are predicting to hit central WI holds off until about 4:30 since I don't feel like doing speedwork in snow or freezing rain. Anything but the treadmill and I'll be pleased.

Have a great day everyone.

I picked up some new shoes over the weekend so I'll be seeing how they feel during a 5 miles at HM pace after work.

Have a good one.

Morning Folks.

RunAsics - Enjoy the new shoes!

Alex - Snow and freezing rain could certainly dampen any hopes of a good speed workout.

Dave - Great workout. How's that knee holding up?

Flounder - 20, 16, & 24 and your going to be an ultra guy? Wow that's a lot of mileage.

Tonya - Sorry about the Pats!

Core day for me with an hour on the stationary. Im in San Fran Wed. - Sunday and will probably miss a couple of runs so I'm calling it a cut back week.

Hi all. I still feel like a bit of an outsider here, so hope you don't mind if I chime in...

Yesterday did 15 @ 7:30 -- longest run since my marathon 3 weeks ago and felt pretty good. 10 of the 15 miles were the course for a race I hope to run in April.

This morning did my usual trail run (5-6??? mi) - it took 53 mins. There was some sleet, but not enough to make things slippery like Friday's freezing rain.

Flounder -- very impressive mileage! Is your goal at Boston still to break 3 or are you planning to go faster?

Good morning everyone. I have 5 miles scheduled for later today. It snowed last night and I hope the snow is gone from the side streets when I go out later today. As for the superbowl, I was rooting for the Patriots so the undefeated doplphins team could be put to rest. Have a great morning everyone.

Funny, I think I uttered the exact same phrase last night Nirvana...

Been MIA this weekend, sorry if I missed anything big. Had a pretty bad stomach flu that was making me throw up anything I ate or didn't eat, so I only got 1,3,1 in Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively. Pretty dissapointing start to February after how my January went, but I'm sure I didn't lose any fitness, and I was probably due for a rest week anyway.

The bright side here is I lost the 3-6 pounds I wanted to this month already, just not the way I was hoping to.

I did see for the first time this weekend that my dad has kept detailed records of his racing history that I never knew about. He was pretty quick back in the day, so it gives me something to shoot for because I want the family PR in every race, but I'm about 20 pounds heavier than him, so it'll take some work.

Hey everyone,

Looks like most of you were rooting for the Patriots - I couldn't decide who to root for, so I just wanted a close game, and boy I sure got it! Great game. Ate too many chips and dips - but that kind of happens on Superbowl day.

Ran 10 miles on Saturday
Ran 3.2 miles today at easy pace with 5x100 striders mixed in.

Mailbox: Glad your feeling better
Kfuller: when does it NOT snow there!?!
Loopy: wow, 15 miles only three weeks after a marathon!
Vashon: enjoy SanFran - hill workouts!
RunAsics: what kind did you get?
Flounder and Tanya: For what it's worth...my GMP is 9:00ish and my Tempo is 8:36ish. I can't even fathom that kind of mileage in two days! Wow!

Good Monday morning all!!

RunAsics enjoy the new shoes. I bet I can guess what kind they are..

Loopy - this is a great forum to hang & glad to have you with. I know you will add good stuff to the mix. I am jelous you got some trail time in. I haven't been on any good trails since Jan. I will probably stick to the roads till LHVHM is over and then head for the woods to prepare for Double Trouble. See you at Quakertown.

Looks like a slow monday but some good plans for the day.

Today is an off day for me. However I want to report yesterday's run. It was really really good. I was scheduled for 7, however did 8 and only quit then because I was short for time. Legs felt great and I just cruised thru. The weather was perfect running weather. Sunny 50 degrees and you could tell that people had lots of plans for spring runs because the running trail was packed with runners. Having so many people around made me push harder because you know we all sometimes get competitive even when there is no registration required. The best part was my push was not really a push at all. It felt good even when I kicked it up a gear.

Went with the puppers and she was covered in mud by the end of the run. I think she had more fun than me and I had to totally cover the back seat of car before I could put her in. I did 8m in 1:10:56. That is the best time I ever did. Never did a 9 minute mile off the TM. I have to admit that there are no hills on the Perkiomen Trail, but still I am Stoked!!!

Quick post this AM...

Tonya--is there a problem this morning???

Loopy--welcome! Stay if you are brave enough...

Rest day for me. It was sooooooooo nice to sleep in until 7:30! 9yo son noticed that it is 40* this morning and asked when we are going for our walk. Yep! Bugger is begging for our 3m walk/run!!! We'll go after lunch.

Hi Apple - glad you and your dog had such a great run yesterday!

The trail runs have definitely become my staple -- the funny thing is that I think they have helped my road racing more than my trail racing...

I am originally from MA, so should be upset about the Patriots -- but I am such a non-sports person that I didn't even watch the game. Instead, I heard the news from drunken college kids shouting in my alley last night (ahhh, college town life). On the other hand I am sure my dad is quite worked up about it, so I should probably call him and feign sympathy

Edited to add: 4boysmom -- thanks for the welcome!

Loopy - Welcome aboard. What are you training for? And where are you located in PA? I am originally from York. A lot of people on these boards with all kinds of experience and even to our VR Elite runner (Tonya ). A lot of good knowledge, so please hang out and get to know everyone.

Getting into work at 6:15am sucked after witnessing the Giants upset the Pats. However, working with 2 Patriots fans, one of whom was born and raised in Boston, along with two bosses who are die-hard Giants fans is pretty sweet

Out for 4 easy miles later on before class 6-10 tonight

I haven't had a complete rest day since before VRAA #6 started (1/2 was the last rest day). So I'm taking one today! Although I might do some yoga tonight.

Tonya, great run yesterday. And I agree with you! GRRRR. Oh well. We had a GREAT season anyway and remain proud!

Apple, I love runs like what you had yesterday ... stopping because of time constraints. I'm looking forward to running trails again (still ice/snow on them here).

Flounder, when do you sleep?

Asics, I'm in need of new shoes at home (I have a new pair at work, but I keep one pair at each). Thanks for the reminder!

Good question -- I am not sure

I will probably do Boston, but have not signed up yet -- need to decide soon. If not Boston, I will probably do some other Spring marathon or ultramarathon.

I am in Kutztown and work in the Lehigh Valley.

Thanks again all for the welcome. I have run into some of the folks here before on CoolRunning and other parts of this site...
