A little catch-up here from the weekend:

Sat: 7 miles from Auburn, CA along the Western States trail down to the American River Confluence and back.

Sun: 16.5 miles at the Cal Int'l Marathon in Sacramento. Perfectly cold 30-45F, but a bit breezy, during the race. Fun to watch leaders and all runners until 3:20 group at mile 19 in the race. Nearly 300 runners broke 3 hours for the race - an exciting field. I ran 2.5 mile warm-up against the race course (cheering them on), joined in with Teh Anti-Kewt near mile 18.5 and ran final 7.7 with him at his 7:40 pace, then after a 25 min break I ran about 6-7 miles back to the car near mile 19. In that span, I was able to witness all runners in the race on pace to finish 4:00 to 6:30; certainly this was an unexpected and uplifting treat to watch each and all strive towards the finish.

Most of all, I got in a good depleting run - sorely needed after this past week of family cooking.

Today's run: 45 minutes, about 5 miles. A recovery run. Cooled down with 4x strides. Body feels good today.

I'm going to miss the California climate.
