Good morning, TEAM LIT!

Wow, what a fun weekend I had. Good to put me in the holiday spirit and then some. Complete with Holiday runs, shopping, and beers and cheer, and a Yulefest 5K along with an amazing after-party with great friends. Seriously a top 5 weekend of the year!

Weekend Recap...

Saturday: 6.5 mile Holiday Run with one of my local running clubs. We gathered for this point to point run in the town center where all runs begin, then jogged along with 30 others to an undisclosed location, all the while stopping twice for a beer stop. Destination was a tiny burger joint/bar that opened early just for us. I had cycled past this place a million times, never knowing what was there. Now I know. We also raised a lot of money for kids in need of some holiday cheer. Really fun.

Sunday: Cambridge Yulefest 5K. 18:13 (5:52 pace). 13th place overall of 850. 1st place Master (40+). Won a great ceramic Yulefest mug. Race was one of my favorites. Start in Harvard Square next to Harvard, course goes around the university and deep into Cambridge, then winds back with lots of turns toward the final run back to the school, with finish right in front of the Harvard T-stop. Race sponsored by three breweries: Pretty Things, Notch Session, and Peak Organic. And beer was free-flowing for a rocking good festive party. When I was called up to receive my award for first place in 40+ category, I brought up a full beer, poured it into the cup, and Christened the festive prize by drinking from the cup. It was a crowd favorite. Fun, fun, fun time with great friends. Logged 6 miles in all with 2.5 solid warm up. Race was 25F, so it was slowish going on running top end speed. Yes, it was cold. Lots of frozen feet and hands.

Monday: 3.5 mile jog.

Great day, Yulefest Goers!

Congrats on what sounds like a fantastic weekend Thor, and on the 1st place Masters! (And the beer!) Solid swim Cake!

Mike - my long distance pace is my recovery pace. When I'm doing these runs at around 8 mph, that's z2 for me. Maybe I should be doing recovery runs slower, but its what I found works for me.

Looking my dashboard on TrainingPeaks, my running mileage for the last 4 weeks was 0 mi, 3.25 mi, 30.85 mi, 67.03 mi. My legs are feeling that buildup. I can definitely feel that as I get older, it takes a bit longer to recover from a hard workout. I'm still not full recovered from Saturday's speedwork. But I should be good to go by tomorrow, when I've got hill work simulation on the TM. I'll go hard again this week and then recover next week when I'm in Whistler.

Another 8 mi on the treadmill in an hour. Another double run for me today, so I'll be back at it tonight.

Have a festive week, tri-peeps!

Sunday was tons of walking....around the malls, trying to get it all finished up!

A little under 3 miles this am - dang it was COLD out! Took a long time to warm up in the shower!

Daily run. Weather changed today and it's colder. Hopefully it will snow later. I notice a difference running at this altitude.

Ran ~4.25 mi this evening. Took note of the temperature (in the 40s) & tomorrow's predicted temps (only in the 30s) & decided to head out. HR avg still a bit high for the pace I ran, but felt awesome! So, glad I went out. FUN to look at all of the Christmas lights & I even ran on streets on which I had never before run.

Then, walked the dogs ~1 mi & made dinner.

Thor - congrats on the FUN & SOLID race in spite of the bitter cold weather.

Mike - craaaazy! What will be the peak miles?

Reg - woohooooo, so close to 5000!

5 miles, recovery run.

After a busy evening of shopping and baking, DH was kind enough to accompany me to the gym at 10:30pm - I swam 1500m while he was enjoying sauna, etc.
