FB--nicely done. How's the new job going?

Rest day for me. I planned on sleeping in but for whatever reason when son1 left this morning he put the hound in the downstairs crate, rather than son3&4's room. Darned thing barked until I got up.........

I need to go to the bank and get a second mortgage. Son3 is going to public school this year. Just got his school supply list. I swear I spent less home schooling and those text books aren't cheap. Gym uniform (used for 12 weeks only, can't recycle), science supplies, special notebooks for each class, workbooks, etc, etc, etc. So much for a "free education".

just a recovery 3 for me here in a few. Got forced to go in early tonight at work so i'll have to rush home and try to sleep. looks like its gonna be one of those weeks at work.

Ended up running pretty hard last night, so I only ended up going 59mins, but I think I was still between 8-9. I hope I can get some harder aerobic efforts like this much more consistently now. Kinda curious as to my distance, so I'll go satellite map it out quick. Have a great day everyone. Hopefully temps have cooled off for everyone now...in WI running weather is perfect!

FB - nice job making it throught the weekend intact!

4boysmom - have a good rest; my wife & oldest son just got school supplies for his first year of jr. high, I probably don't want to look at the receipts.

loopy - that's great that you are coming back strong; I think gumby would be a good costume to embarrass your brother :)

BBS - good luck this week & hope you get the runs in.

me - managed 4 easy at about 9min pace this morning in cooler but still humid weather, hamstring about the same as yesterday but felt a little better the last mile which I will take as a good sign.

Morning all,

I had to drag myself into the office stupid-early this morning for what else? A stupid early meeting. Now I'm hoping cup of coffee #3 penetrates my tired cranium.

I ended up with more or less a rest day yesterday. As expected I didn't play in the soccer game. Later that evening I did do a 40 minute core & resistance band workout. I'm packed for a midday run today, which will probably have to be inside at the gym because we're looking at either triple Hs or thunderstorms outdoors, most likely. I'll probably do the ole "10k program" at a fairly easy progressive pace. 4.5 mile trail race tomorrow evening with the club...that will be my tempo run for the week.

FB - I haven't read your report yet but nice job over the weekend with all that racing.

4bm - school systems seem to be doing that a lot, adding fees for all kinds of things. It's kind of self-defeating if you ask me.

BBS - have a god easy run

Loopy - mr. consistency once again. And what BBS said.

Alex - nice "easy" run there. It's all relative I guess.

zrun - glad to see you were able to get something in. Hammies can take a while but you're on the road back and that's good.

Good day all.

FB - I feel your pain in the heat and humidity.

4BM - Yep, some school are under budgeted so they make the parents supply everything. We got off cheap for DS starting 9th grade.

Loopy - Makin figure 8! Sweet!

BBS - Nice recovery miles.

Alex - Good to see you back at it hard again. Nice run!

zrun - Take care of those hammies!

Me - Hill repeats, 3 mile jog to the hill and then did 8 repeats at about .3 miles each with a recovery back down. Ended up with 10.2 miles of fun! By the time I was done I felt like I was running through water with all the sloshing!

Happy Training everyone.

Morning...

Hawk - Bummer about the meeting. What's a triple H?

ZRun - Easy does it on that hammie. Is it a strain?

Alex - Heading into you soph year? I've lost track.

BBS - Nice going on the run and sorry about work. Hope you can get your runs and rests in this week. Hey, you're going to love that marathon!

Loopy - You almost 100%?

4boys - Ah, what price education? It is dang expensive for high schoolers.

FB - Nice going on yet another sweaty one. What's the new job?

Welcomed rest day for me today. This heat is now officially putting me in a lousy mood. Even left the puppy out of his crate last night it was so hot. He eats anything standing including sofas and tables so it was a risk. He was a good boy though.

Nice workouts and slacking off resting all.

Slow start for me today. Finally dropped DD off at daycare and am now ready for 8 hrs of intense boredom at my desk. Just can't get motivated at work these past few weeks. May run or cross-train at lunch, or may just rest like a sensible person.

I need to take it easy this week to be somewhat fresh for the DeKalb Cornfest 10k on Saturday. I have a feeling it'll be a challenge just to break 40. Whatever, it should be a good fitness check on a deceptively tough course.

Yeah, I feel the same way right now. I don't have a 10k teed up yet but would like to do one soon.

And Dan, "triple Hs" = hazy, hot, humid. It's a term we're quite familiar with around here.

8mi in 57mins here...very pleased since I was running into strong winds for about 2.5mi straight. Definitely pushed it a bit, but wasn't straining. That was my mantra for most of the run besides some ridiculously annoying songs I had running through my head. Push, don't strain.

Tonight I'm helping my coaches out with Jr. High and high school's first practice, so hopefully I can get in some recovery running. Tomorrow I'm running with some high school friends from a nearby town, and I think that will probably be quite quick, but hopefully I can catch some easy running a bit later, at practice again. It's always fun to be assistant coach for a few days at the high school. :)

Keep up the good runs people!

Hi everyone. I did 9 miles on the greenway this morning, at an easy pace. It felt good to be back out there. Low 80s and 70% humidity felt like a nice break from the last few days of intense heat.

Afternoon run is in the books. 6.35 miles in a leisurely average pace of 8:33. But since I did it progression style, that meant starting at 10:00 pace, finishing at 6:47 pace. Just enough fast running to liven the legs up but not too much to tire them out for tomorrow night.
