No run for me today. Scheduled day off.

I have to figure out now what I'm going to do with the 2 mulligan weeks I built into the schedule. It's too early to start tapering, and I've reached the end of mesocycle #3 on the Pfitz/Douglas 18/70 plan.

I'm tempted to repeat the last two weeks of Mesocycle 3. Either that, or take a "recovery" week this week then repeat the last week of Mesocycle 3 before beginning the taper.
That's what I was thinking as well Flounder. I'm considering repeating the last two weeks (of course, I won't repeat the 26.7 miler yesterday, I'll do the 20 that Pfitz calls for). The 2nd to last week is only 63 planned miles (and when I did it before, I found that I only did 60). Then this past week was supposed to be 68 miles. Then I could start the taper.

I'll decide in the morning tomorrow. The legs are a bit tired, and a recovery week might not be the worst thing in the world right now. However, I have had struggles with the VO2max workouts the last couple weeks, and if I can muster good VO2max workouts, that might be quite helpful.

Thanks for the advice Flounder.
another Idea is pick the last cutback week from cycle#3 for this week and then redo the last week that you just did. I am sure you legs could use a break from being toasty, so a cutback would be a good choice.
I don't know what I'm talking about so don't listen to me EQ but keep up the kickassness! You are gonna dominate the Equinox.

Mike...hasn't been nice waking up in the morning and actually feeling a lil' chilled? Nice run...how are you feeling now?
Thanks Alex. I hope you're right. I feel like my legs are much stronger now than when I started the program. They're a bit tired, so my pace hasn't been what it was before I started the program. I think once I start the taper in a few weeks, everything will come together and I'll feel great going into the Equinox.

One month from this Wednesday! Yikes!!!
Easy run for me tonight too - Just 3.6 miles in a tad over 8 minute pace. Legs felt a little heavy after the weekends race. Have an early start tomorrow as I have a 10 mile run planned with Horrible Peanut at 6am Dublin Time, while most of you guys are still asleep, and Californian's haven't gone to bed!

jeez flounder, I ran at 4am:
64 degrees and and 97% humidity in my part of wisconsin was suffocating

....or it could be simply that I'm a humidity wuss....
6.1 mile run at practice today with instructions of go out easy and come back firm.

Went out at 8 pace with the guys and then went half mile further...pushed on the way back and I guess I had a kickass way back with like 6:57, 6:42 and then a 6:13. Didn't feel that hard at all and in this heat that's a good sign.

Oh ya check out how sexy I am now with no braces in the PRT Before and After thread I am making soon. I smile even more now! I can't believe how nice it feels to finally have them off but now I have a lil' permanent retainer on the inside of my teeth for who knows how long. But they sure look purdy...
EQ -- I'm excited to see the payback you get for all your training next month. You've really worked hard!

Even though it was hot, I had a great coached track session tonight. Some clouds and a breeze kept the 90ish temperatures manageable.

1 mile warm up, then 6 X 800 w/ 2 minutes rest:

Then 1 mile cool down. I felt strong throughout and was very happy with the workout.
Nice running in the heat, SGH!

After a wonderful swim this weekend at the natural spring quarry, my Monday swim was interupted due to poor water quality in Lake Erie.

Instead, I ran to the Y (2 miles each way) to swim in the pool.

Forgot my goggles, so I had a horrible swim. I toughed it out for my VRAA teammates. Swam the 1000m without goggles and my eyes are paying the price now.
