Good morning

I am feeling very under the weather today, plus my calf is still bothering me, so it looks like an US rest day here. I'm hoping I only have a sinus infection, but I'm feeling all achey today. Good thing I got forced to work another 12 tonight, I'm sure that will make me feel better...

I found a neat iPhone app the other day- Runner's World Smart Coach. I got the free version

Good luck out there today, run a mile or two for me

BBS - hope you start feeling better. Perhaps 10 hrs into your shift the clouds will lift and it'll be all sunshine and roses?

Rest day for me. My legs are still feeling somewhat trashed.

BBS - Hope you feel better,

30 min elliptical + a couple of sets hips/pushups/planks for me. Legs felt good and almost switched and ran outside since it was nice out, but once I was on the elliptical I could tell my legs were still a bit fatigued from yesterday.

Have a good one.

Hey, peeps.

BBS -- Have a good rest/work day.

RA -- You too, after the weekend you had. You're doing NY, huh? Hmmmmm.....

zrun -- Smart to rest today.

Me -- Well, I guess I'll break rank with the rest of you, and run a bit. 5-7 easy after yesterday's 12. My longest run since October. Took forever.

Yes, I was accepted into the NYC marathon with a guaranteed entry. I'm still trying to figure out my travel as I'll now be going solo rather than with the family... probably book Friday -> Monday.

Mornin' gents...

Looks like we are getting what RA got yesterday, 80s and windy. Oh boy.

Not sure of the plan yet but co-worker wants to run at high noon...actually it doesn't really get warm around here on warm days until 3pm or later, so that will work. How far? How fast? No idea. I'm guessing somewhere in the 5-7 mile range, easy to moderate pace.

BTW I did get out for the easy 5 last night. I was surprised how good I felt considering I ran around on a soccer field in the morning. I guess taking a recovery week last week helped.

BBS - sounds like Monday blues. Sleep through til Tuesday. Or work through.

zrun - nice job on the 20 yesterday

chances - you're a little late for NYC 2011. But if you're game for London 2012...lottery starts day after race day 2011, which is 6 days after Boston. I've been eyeing the date. Just sayin'.

RA - re: hotels, I got mine through Hotwire last year and did quite well. Ended up in the Manhattan Center right next to Rockefeller Center, NBC Studios, Radio City and most importantly a brew pub only 1.5 blocks away. Oh, and Central Park is walking distance. So is Times Square if you care. I would move on it now though.

Hawk -- I think I can still register with guaranteed entry through 4/19. I think . . .

Since you've done both Boston and NYCM, how'd they compare?

ETA: Yep. "Guaranteed entry applications will be accepted (excluding charity applications) for runners who meet one of the criteria below from November 8, 2010, at noon EDT until April 19 at 11:59 p.m."

OK, I was thinking just about the lottery. I stand corrected, counsellor. To your questions...both races are pretty awesome...the crowd support, the volunteers, the scenery, the buzz beforehand. NYC held special significance for me because I lived there for some of my childhood and I really wanted to do it. And it's a big, BIG event. But something about Boston just makes it a little more special. Hard to say what it is. That town is the capital of the world for one day every April, and be a part of it and feel like a star in that show...just amazing.

Rest that calf up BBS.

Have a nice day off Asics.

Sounds like a smart move sticking to eliptical Zrun.

Hope the 5-7 went well Chances and goes well for Hawk.

Obviously I've been MIA for a while. Just busy at school, but I've been running. I've gone over 200 miles each month this year, but my running hasn't been too great so far. Probably just that I need to drop at least 10 pounds, so I thought I'd come back and hopefully have you guys keep me honest. I'm at 190 right now, and I had been running at near 180 a few years ago, and think I can get down to close to 170 if I really get focused.

My planned long run yesterday got derailed by the 80+ degree weather and my own wussiness, so I cut it to 20ish. Felt ok this morning, but just did 5 miles.

Hi everybody. I ran 6 and walked one this morning. Finished about an hour before the rain and thunder started. Mr jebba's been working crazy hours lately, so we haven't done a p90x workout in over a week. We'll get up early tomorrow morning and do one.

Back from the midday runabout. I said 5-7, and we ended up splitting the difference for an easy 6. Rather warm out there. Weather.com says it's 77 but I think they're a little off, definitely feels like 80s. Strong breeze to cool us off, somewhat.

I was up a good part of the night with my collie. I was pretty certain we'd have to put him to sleep this morning. He had dry heaves and was pretty uncomfortable. That's almost certainly gastric torsion. Only treatment is surgery and he's too old and sick... However, magically this morning he recovered. He's resting comfortably. Can't say the same for myself.

Planned 7am in the fishbowl wasn't happening, due to no sleep plus planning on taking the dog to the vet. So maybe a rest day? Nah... While son1 was at class I went for a run. It's a short mile around the park. Plan was at least 3, up to 5laps. Legs were dead due to hard rides over the weekend. I would have been happy with 9:15pace. Got out there and it was 65* and almost raining. Felt good through lap3. At the start of lap4, it started raining. There is NOTHING like running in a warm rain. After a week of bleck, I was starting to feel alive again. No time to stop, so ended up with 6 laps. 5.4m, 8:40pace.

Hey gang!

Nice job on the race zrun. Both my girls ran their first 1 miler on Sunday; dd1 - 10:55 and dd2 - 11:14. So proud of them. I can't wait to be able to run a 5k with one or both of them.

BBS, I do hope your calf is feeling better soon.

RA, and I hope your "suckfest" is over by now.

Can't wait to hear about Apple's Tough Mudder experience.

Trails on Sat for me, about an hour 40 of running. Nothing Sunday as I volunteered at a local 4 miler. Hot! today, 50 minutes of running in 75* temps. I do hope it's rainy and cold next Monday. My husband is sick and dd2 has a sore throat. Nice!

7:11;6:51;7:01;7:01:7:25 The last one was on an uphill and I did not feel like pushing the pace.
