It's 8/9/10 today!

I have a tummy ache; started last night and is still bothering me this morning. So no workouts today pour moi. I'm mostly hoping to get through the work day without incident. Fortunately tummy things rarely last more than 24 hours so I should be as right as rain by later tonight.

Enjoy your day everyone and run a few miles for me!

Ribs, that isn't like you. I hope you are feeling out of the dumpster soon.

a Rare early awakening for me. Headed out for 3 miles at about 5:50. Did you know it's still slightly dark at that hour? I had no idea.

All wknd long, I would glance at the clock periodically and think back to what was happening at that time last wknd during the relay. I miss my relay buddies. Funny how none of my recollections were "I was sleeping at this time last wknd". . .

Ribs - This just will not do. Snap out of it. I prescribe going back to the CR archives and reading a PBJ race report.

Last night I did a hard intervals workout, and am sore today. Today I ran a 4-mile recovery jog with 4 of my co-workers, and I couldn't keep up with the 10:00 milers, fell back with a 10:30 miler, and held her back to 10:45. Didn't feel like I loosened up at all until about 3 miles in.

I have gotten used to stretching in the morning for about 15 - 20 minutes when I first wake up, and about 7 minutes into today's stretch, my wife came into the room and said "we need to talk", so that got aborted. Hoping to find another 15 minutes later in the day to get these infernal confounded sore quads and hamstrings loosened up.

"We need to talk" is never good.

At least that's my experience.

Really, Susan? I interpret it as an invitation for boisterous sex.

10.25 miles in the park today. Ran 8 without a break, then stopped at my car to drink water and eat a peach. Then finished out the remainder by meeting up with my running partner halfway into her run. Got home barely in time to shower quickly and drive my mom to the airport to pick up some relatives from overseas who are staying with her. Yoga on tap for the evening. Mondays are good. :)

Must admit - "we need to talk" is always ominous and find "lets have sex right now" leads to SEX :¬)

Training today was curtailed by Rachaels tummy playing up. That was this evening though so I still rode and ran today.

OM - your running has been outstanding lately!

Everybody gets to be saturnine once in a while, even Ribs. (But don't make a habit of it.)

Great LR last week, btw.

Gobi, your racing has been phenomenal! Congrats on all that hard work paying off.

You too, CNY! And Pink!

I made one post last week, but it got lost in the ether. I spent all week ellipticaling and running 2 mile tests on the TM, with mostly good results. I tried a 4 miler on Fri and didn't suffer any consequences, which was nice. Unfortunately today's 5 miler has produced the familiar aches in the right butt. So I'll continue to take ibu and run sparingly for a while.

Mike - sounds like you are managing your niggle well. Thank you for the comments on my progress, it has been a long time since the good old days of 2008 but I am hoping that 2011 will see something special.

Back from vacation and back to reality so I'm a little bit down in the dumps today, too.

Rx: boisterous sex?

I ran 3.6 and walked 1.4 on the towpath today while MrF did 10. I felt a twinge in my right groin and it didn't go away after a few walk breaks so I took my time. I knew Mr would be out a while anyway.

While on vacation I ran my first trail marathon, Grand Island in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It was a beautiful course and a green race. Great care was taken to leave a small environmental footprint...gu wrappers were recycled, banana peels composted, award medallions were made by local artists, shirts made in the US of recycled fiber, public transportation for all runners from their hotels, etc. There were fewer than 300 runners. Time was my slowest of 4 marathons, 5:06, 5th of 11 in my AG, 50th of 97 women. Here's a picture of the course map and profile.

I felt good until the outside of the left knee (itb?) got twingy with a few miles to go. It was a warm day and I ran out of water between stations 16 and 22. That was a hard stretch. Otherwise, a great run. Scenery was beautiful.

Finn, you don't look old enough to have a 30 year old DD either! And I'm just back from vacation too; the Monday after vacation is the worse kind of Monday. Interesting profile for your marathon. I find myself looking for the Coyote dropping an anvil on the Roadrunner. Beep beep.

irunmike, I was just thinking about you this weekend. Next time some thread gets hijacked by a yoga discussion, we should talk golf. That will teach 'em.

{{{ }}} for all who are feeling kinda down or off today. I guess I caught a bit of that bug myself this afternoon, and decided to go offline a bit and read a book. It's good to take time for oneself, rest, even if it's just for a half hour. Such an easy thing to forget to do.

Thanks for the kind words, irun. Yeah, I think just losing a bit of weight recently has been my impetus to better running. I still have at least another 10 pounds to go, but as tomwhite says, it's all about patience and persistence.

"We have to talk" could mean about the lack of boisterous sex.... hmm, I'll do some research tonight and get back to y'all....
