Hi Mike - congrats on your win in the ping pong tournament! :)

Johnny - no we are not 50 staters..........yet. We are trying to run 2 marathons a year with none in the same state..........so eventually if we live long enough.:) Did the pony express deliver you a package yet? Sometimes they get robbed betwixt here and there. lmk

No run yet. Tired this morning. Even dw slept in this morning and that is a rare thing for her. She will try to run 2 miles tonight with 2 mins ez run and 30 secs walking to see how the leg feels. I'm scheduled for 10 with 4-5 .75 10k pace intervals. IT's 96 degrees currently so will have to wait till later this evening for the attempt.

I read people posting all the time they wished they could see some dry and sun. Trade you for a while.

What's up with the rest of the kickstars?

p.s. no roofing for me today

Good run for you today Mike.

I'd hold out for the cooler evening hours too, KS.

No roofing for me today either. No more paint scraping of the front porch railings either. We've decided to go to a lower maintenance option and redo it using metal balusters and less wood overall. Apparently I didn't do a good enough job the last two times I repainted and some more wood sections have rotted. Sometime over the coming month, that should get accomplished. I like the style I have now, but this new version should look just as good.

As for running, I have 8 miles planned for tonight as a "wave run" after 2M WU. I did an hour of yoga last Thurs, Sat, and Sun - could really tell my legs were fatigued. They feel better now.

4 recovery paced miles, still overcast, although it's humid, if you can have humidity at 60°F, so I guess I'm recovering. Will NOT accept your trade Ks. This weather is fine with me. I prefer the sun in the winter, and overcast in the summer. That's from a lifetime of working outside.

No puppy training (or any animal training for that matter), no roofing or any other projects here. It takes all my energy just to work & run.

No pony express deliveries as yet, although I only check mail every few days. Will check later today.

Nice running Mike.......and future running Ks & HF

Hi Johnny, KS, and HappyFeat!!

Took the day off work and was going to be a slacker all day, but decided at 4pm to go for a little 3-4 mile recovery trail run. Figured I'd check out some mountain bike trails that I've been dying to see where they go, and before I knew it, my best way out was to finish the loop and come out 2 miles down the road from home. But it was ~90°F and very humid and ran out of water at 4 miles. Stopped at a neighbour's down the road and got a refill of nice cold water and ran/walked that last mile home. Officially overdid it at 6 miles total.

Way to overdo Heme. You have been hitting the tempos pretty consistently Mike.

I love the warm weather, but it has been challenging the last few days. My whole body ached this morning as I finished another section of roof sunday afternoon. When the sun

was out, it had to be 120° by the time I was finished. This morning, I spent 4 hours loading up the old shingles and off to the dump. Another half hour to unload which is a hard workout in itself. It's supposed to get even hotter this week so I am taking a roofing break until it cools down (and my back muscles recover).

Heading to the fitness center to attempt 6 miles of running. I may or may not do some elipticalling.

I messed around so long the storm that came through passed so I went for a run outside. The rain cooled it down to a comfortable sauna at 72° and 95% humidity. Mr Garmin says I ran 8:11,7:41,7:39,7:28,7:13,7:00 and a little extra to go 6.18 miles in 46:28. Starting to feel like a runner again!!

That's the way to get back in the game, rip - after all that physical labor AND the heat! I think you're superhuman!

Gobi's post really made me laugh - thanks for that,

I could echo Johnny: "It takes all my energy just to work & run" and add there's not much time left over for anything else. So we've come up with an even lower maintenance idea for the deck railing - remove it and install a couple wraparound trex stairs around the patio. Might just be the best idea yet. The patio sits 15 inches off the ground level if that helps you picture it. I could take a photo, although half the railing has already been removed today by Mr. I Don't Run And Have Extra Time On My Hands!

Ran an 8-mile "tempo run" tonight with 4 miles at race pace (10 mpm) sandwiched by a couple slow miles of warm-up and cool-down. I felt it after the 4th mile with various twinges; but I could make pretty much every one go away with a shift of stride or posture. Still a challenge though. Not running tomorrow night due to another commitment, but I think a Rest Day is a good idea anyway.
