Finally...the first outdoor meet that I get to run in and they are saying absolutely awesome weather at like 64*. Hooray for spring. Well I'm not sure how many good runners are going to be there, only 5 teams with us. I am hoping the Edgar boys are as good of track runners as they were in XC because they absolutely dominated at the Conference meet. Well I will be in the mile and 2 mile and hope I have a great report that goes along with Flounder's and Lof's and all the other great races we've had here recently.

Well a bit more last minute Spanish studying for today's test...have a GREAT day!

Good luck Alex - Make a good statement tonight about those distances.

Mid-run I had a stroke of intelligence and decided to make today an easy day and go the LAT workout tomorrow. I felt strong enough to do it today, but some lingering soreness from Saturdays race made me decide it was wise for one more recovery day.

10 easy miles

Good running to all -

5 easy at lunch, but seems not important with the tragedy @ Viginia Tech - Megs from Cool Running lives on the floor above the dorm part of the shootings.

75 min. on the stationary cycle with lots of intervals after work, and yoga class earlier this morning.

Normally I would not count PT, but they have me doing so much lower leg strength work now (weights, wobble board, trampoline-balance stuff) that it feels like a bit of a workout.

I've been running the past 8 weeks on an indoor track. So, I thought it would be a good idea to switch to the road today to start my training for the 3.5 mile race in a month, and I was hoping it would be an easy transition. Boy was I wrong!
I woke up at 1:30 this morning to a hail/rainstorm, and there was no way I was going to get up at 5 AM and run in that crap with no gloves or weather running gear. I put my run off till this afternoon after work.
3/4 of a mile later I knew I had no choice. Holy freaking crap! Was it the hills? The driving wind? The roots I had to hop over or what? But that was the hardest 3.4 of a mile I ever ran/walked. I couldn't even run 1/2 a mile straight.
Now it's time to map out a 3.5 mile route and start running it every day till I can run the whole damned thing.

A real struggle tonight.

I also want to thank a couple of KickRunners, who whether or not they know it, really helped me out tonight.

It was a real struggle towards the end. I was really sore, and just wanted to pack it in and go home. Then I remembered there are a couple of people here who are injured, and can't run right now (SGH and ellenshana came to mind in particular). I kept telling myself, "Suck it up, SGH and ellenshana would LOVE to be where you are right now." It kept me going.

So, whether or not you know it SGH and ellenshana, you were a big help to me tonight. Thanks for that.

Let me also add, I hate the fact that you are injured. No runner likes to be injured, or likes to see another runner injured. I hope you both are better very soon.

Daily Run Report

Date: 04/16/2007Time: 16:39
Run Type: Just A Run
Distance: 16.0 miles
Total time: 02:31:20.8Average Per Mile: 00:09:08.2
Course: Home 16 mile loop
Max HR (for entire workout): 163
Average HR: 151
Shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 9 - 02/2007Date Entered Service: 02/23/2007Ending Mileage: 273.5
Weather: Cloudy breezy and cool
Temperature: 44Temperature Type: Ambient AirTime: Start
Temperature: 43Temperature Type: Ambient AirTime: End
Dew Point: 37Time: Start
Dew Point: 37Time: End
Wind speed: 3Max Gust: 10Direction: ESE

Ugh.

My legs are absolutely dead. I had a rough night out there. I got the 16 miles in though.

I am just tired. I had the hard effort on Saturday, did 5 yesterday, and today I did this run.

On top of that, I worked overtime today, meaning I had to roll out of bed at 4am. I am beat.
Run Segments
I did this little thing I like to call "The Boston Marathon" today.

Of course it's just the four mile round trip walk to work and back and I really should give it another name...

Wow this tragedy has me so worked up right now I can't even begin to explain to you. Let me tell you, it sucks being a kid about to go into the "real world" knowing that stuff like this happens. I'll post about the meet results tomorrow when I'll hopefully feel better. Only probably another hour or so of history vocab...gonna be one dragging day tomorrow.

Glad I could help, EQ, and yes, I would have been thrilled to have been out there even yesterday! Injury is good for not taking running for granted.

Good luck with that, Amethyst. You'll get there, you might need to slow down a bit since running outside is different and usually a bit more difficult, imo.

Thanks for the encouragement. The weather's pretty crappy up here in NE currently and that indoor track looks pretty darned inviting right now, rather than the dark rainy streets.

I know, I'm in Vermont . I have the advantage of having a running buddy for most of my runs, which helps me get out there.
