Happy Halloween everyone.

I am taking a rest day and maybe a rest week from running. I will be doing other things though. I got called for jury duty next week. I have to start calling to see if they want me to come in on Friday. So, next week could be interesting. Have a great morning everyone.

Work up feeling terrible (must be cursed) so bagged my planned early run. May try for a 5'er over lunch. Like BBS, I'll be getting out of work early to go trick or treating... may even bring DD along.

BBS - nice job on the shake out.

kfuller - Jury duty... that sounds like fun... I got called for that literally the day after moving into the city of Chicago (fresh meat). Had to prove I was not a citizen...

Good afternoon all, just checking in after a busy morning.

SRD for me today. Then back to it tomorrow. I'm not quite in taper mode yet...wait a minute, you say...taper mode? For what? Oh yeah, I'm running Philly in 3 weeks. Yep, I signed up in September after convincing myself I could do it on an abbreviated 11-week training cycle with a 2-week taper. Made the decision to sign up about 2.5 seconds after I crossed the finish line at that half marathon in Vermont back in early September.

Have fun with all the running and trick or treating. We'll be giving out Reese's.

Hawk - You just could not resist, huh?! Anyway, save some Reese's for me!

kfuller - that is a very laid back approach :)

I got in 6.5 miles over lunch. Feeling better than this morning. SRD tomorrow then my final run, before NYC, on Wednesday. The whole issue of getting to the race has me more worried than the actual race... 6am ferry = very early start and a rush to the subway at Times Square. However; it seems that I'll get 1 extra hour of sleep as we fall back to standard time that morning.

What's up, strangers? Happy Halloween!

I'm back to much more regular running than in most of the last 2 years... 52, 72 and 62 miles each of these last 3 months on the heels of numbers like 18, 22 27, 19, 25, 42....

It feels good to be back running more regularly. Hint - stop stretching! It has worked like an incredible charm for me. That and fewer overall miles each month. In other words, well under 100.

Saturday, I ran a 25 minute 5k, which is no great feat, I know, but for me it was quick. First mile was straight uphill as well, so something is going well these days.

Yesterday, 8 very easy miles and I only barely feel anything today other than a bit of leg weariness....no run today, maybe a few in the morning.

Anyway, no razor blades in the Reese's Cups this year, ok?

Yeah, it will be interesting how this works out. I am going in a little more conservatively this time, targeting 3:20 instead of the usual 3:10. I have to admit that 7:35-7:40/mile MP runs have felt a lot less grueling than the 7:15 pace I'm usually aiming for.

I think we have maybe 4-5 kids of trick or treating age on our block. So there should be plenty of peanut butter cups leftover.

Don't sweat it on the ferry. I was staying across the street from Radio City, picked up a subway at 57th & Lexington and got to the ferry in a snap. It's an amazingly efficient system they have on race day, much better than the lineup of school buses at Boston Common. If anything you'll have way too much time on your hands at Ft. Wadsworth. My advice -- bring a blanket to sit on in the athletes village. I'm not kidding. And when they start calling your corral ridiculously early, heed it and quickly check your gear because they lock the corrals shortly thereafter.

51mins normal run. Beautiful day....sunny and not very brisk. Wore shorts just because I could...who knows how long that'll last.

Way to go PRT! Best of the best when it comes to relaxing, tapering, and running if needed. Happy Halloween!
