Good morning, everyone!

RiL - I LOVE the fact that DS seemed optimistic about pre-race strategy changes. Good for him! (and I bet we've ALL had too big of a breakfast before a race and/or taken off too fast and regretted it somehow)

Pics! I have a couple to start us off. First of all, it's been a while since I posted baby Bleu horse photos. I had a brief visit yesterday. Little Bleu isn't exactly little anymore!!

Also, although this is really blurry, Cranie - here's a photo of what my disco running setup is like. With the flash, the whole room lights up. Without the flash, the camera can't figure out what to focus on - so while it's not a great photo, you can at least get the general idea...

Morning!

Rawr! Love the disco running room! Love the horse photos too, although I am glad they are just photos or achoooooo. Yeah, horses and I don't work well together....

I am up and into work bright and early. No fitnessing for me.

Holy carp - forgot to mention to BE CAREFUL! Saturday evening, DH hit a pedestrian who ran out into the road. Crazy stuff. Apparently she was trying to beat the light and darted across the street into oncoming traffic. DH didn't see her until it was too late.

She is going to be okay (we think/hope), but she was definitely severely hurt. Crazy, scary stuff. DH is still all kinds of rattled.

As runners, we have all *darted* at one time or another. Be smart, be safe.

eeekkkk! that is scary Mindi..so scary. There was a woman a few weeks ago and that went out in rush hour traffic and just sat her butt down. yeah, she was committing suicide and I really feel for those poor people who hit her :(

Ok. downer!

Ran 10.6 yesterday on meh trails. I slipped a couple of times and tweaked some stuff. blah

Lifted for the first time in a while on Friday and am still sore

Good advice, RIL. I've been almost-hit often enough to know that it can be dangerous out there...

Nice horsie pic!

After a long run on Saturday, I was wiped out all day yesterday. I didn't get anything done. Thank goodness it was Sunday and I could stay at home and sleep the day away. I had a list of errands that I should've done, but it's not the end of the world that I didn't do them. If it had been a workday, I would've been in trouble. I feel much better today, so hopefully all the rest did me good.

I'll do some kind of run today...

Bleu is a cutie! Thanks for posting.

RIL, what a dreadful experience for your DH. I hope everyone is OK. I live in fear that I'll hit something/someone.

Bob, I think we need those days every once in a while. Don't feel too bad about taking a day to relax and listen to your body! Brandy, hope the tweaks aren't too serious.

I did a trainer ride on Saturday (first time on my bike since September... pathetic!) and ran 8 yesterday. All last summer, I had an annoying tingling sensation in my legs, from my glutes down. I remember it was more on one leg than the other, but I don't remember which. I saw the chiro, and she gave me some exercises to do on my own. It went away after a while.

Well.... It's back. Clearly, my bike seat is causing it! I mean, one bike ride and the pain/sensation is back immediately? Gotta be related.

Maybe and his will bring me a new bike seat.

Long day with the Christmas parade and a flood in our basement yesterday lead to carppy sleep last night. I skipped the gym this morning, but went through all the PT stuff at least.

Speaking of pedestrians, I actually had to teach my mother when she was allowed to cross the street downtown. Seriously reckless behavior...makes me wonder how she's lived this long.

Wishing a good Monday for everyone. I think I'm bugging out early to get some shopping (for myself) done. I have a couple of coupons that expire today, and I want to use them. I hate shopping, but this should be fun.

Morning all! Got out for a super duper foggy 8.1 miler this morning; the air is seriously thick but looked sooo cool along the Hudson. It's burned off some but I still can't see either the Hudson or East rivers from my office just a couple big clouds I missed checking in this past weekend, was having way too much fun! Chinatown Odyssey was a blast ... and such tasty hot pot eats. Karaoke was a little fuzzy (helllooo too much sake) but still so much fun and such a great group! Saturday's beer run helped get me over my hangover and, again, turned out to be a rousing success. We probably started with 30+ runners, picked up a couple here and there and lost a couple as well. Lots of peeps we passed were interested in finding out what we were doing, a few joined us for a little bit ... LOL

Craney – related to your comment on foods helping/hurting in your recovery; have you seen Food Matters? http://www.foodmatters.tv/ An excellent look at foods and vitamins in fighting all that ails you.

Prae & Moonie – love the old pictures!! My dad had all of his old slides put onto DVDs, we watched them over Thanksgiving; way too funny!!

Weekend QOD – I put up a tree and have various other decorations around the apt, in reality all I need is a tree w/lots of lights; nothing calms me more than sitting in a dark living room with just the tree lit up. Mindi - I love the candles in your windows, so simple but so festive!

howdy peeps.

Busy weekend, as usual. Lots of fun holiday stuff though, which was good to get me into the spirit of things.

My friend Jess came over yday afternoon and helped me buy and set up my tree. I often get my tree from a local flower shop down the street but we went to Home Depot because sadly, they are fresher and cheaper. At least it was festive and I had the guys working there laughing...always good for the spirits!

So, maybe some of you will be jealous, but the Christmas show I ushered on Fri night at my local theatre? Joey McIntyre made a guest appearance. And I met him. (He's my friend Carol's brother...but I'd never met him before...nor would I have known him if I fell over him. Lovely voice though...he sang "I'll be Home for Christmas." )

Lots of healing vibes to all who need them...my back's wacked again today, probably from hauling Christmas stuff off the shelves in the cellar yday. I also concussed myself getting my reindeer out from under the front porch.

hi all...we got out tree put up yesterday (artificial- 10 feet so it's a massive chore to get up) but it's not decorated yet...hoping to get that finished this evening. I'm headed down to do a little outlet shopping today with a friend (Missy-in Carlsbad). Theia- yes I would say your bike seat is the likely culprit but I'm sure Santa is listening! Moe-I love that song...one of my fave Christmas tunes) so that would have been cool to see.

Happy Monday!

brandy and others, thank you for the advice re: weights. i have been using cans but will likely graduate to 3# weights when i get them. man 30DS is kicking my butt!! its even harder to do since i'm so sore. its def a workout and i'm enjoying it!!

******************************************************************

so i had a pretty sh*tty weekend. lol. bella came down with some sort of GI thing (i really want to blame the ILs for feeding her random stuff but i have no proof, lmao) and had explosive diarrhea TWICE on our brand new rugs. the clean up process was not quite fun but shes feeling better and i think a few more rounds of vingegar+ baking soda will take the smell out. i hope.

i also survived the ILs visit! woot!! i do have to tell you all that when i was at work on fri, MIL rearranged my entire kitchen. then, we went out to dinner sat and i passed on an appetizer and when asked why, i replied that i was trying to lose weight (really, just eating clean to rid the rest of the baby weight) to which she replied, "yeah. thats about right. you SHOULD go on a diet" while FIL nodded in agreement. now, that one was a loaded one because i know they think i'm fat so i was sort of asking for it. so, i smiled, tongue in cheek like i did the entire week. aren't you all proud of me?!?? confession: i also hid in my bathroom and drank every night once DH got home. i think i was close to drunk by 8pm on most nights. LMAO. i'll be checking into AA later today.

ok. good days to you all!!! three cheers for good spirits!

qod: normally, i def put up decorations around thanksgiving but i haven't yet. i need some time to recover from Parent Assault 2011 before getting the energy to do so. maybe later this week. i've decided not to put up a tree this year. i *think* i could manage to distract AK enough but i just don't really want to deal with it. maybe i'll buy a small table tree or somethin' if i'm feeling tree-less.

which makes me miss Voo. merry christmas, big guy. i miss your tree with all those special 30s ornaments. sniff.

Morning 30's I hit the weights this morning and I might get a run in today but we will see. I would like to start running longer but it probably means waking up earlier.

     1. i don't eat the ends of french fries. just the middle. but i didn't realize that until i started dating DH who has, since then, dutifully chewed off all ends of my fries for me. :)

     2. i swirl all my drinks like its wine that needs to be aerated. (do you sense a theme here? i swear i'm not an alcoholic. just when the ILs are around)

Holiday decorating: I do quite a bit. 7 foot real tree in my sunroom, plus a small real tree on my front porch, and a small skinny fake tree in my front hall. I also do garland and lights on the front railing and porch, a wreath (or a swag...I forgot to get a wreath yday, so I might just use some boughs and make a swag), plus my faux-piary reindeer on the front lawn. (I'm not convinced my landlady likes them, but her husband does. ;) ) In the house, I have a whole collection of santas that I put out, and decorate both the dining room and the breakfast nook, because I throw a party every year. I have these big glass vases in a variety of sizes that I fill with vintage ornaments for the dining room table. Since I no longer have a fireplace, I don't have a mantle, but I decorate the top of my TV cabinet like it is one, and for the party, I put on one of those roaring fireplace DVDs, for effect. And like Kath, I also have a leg lamp. :)

QOD: I sing quietly along to songs a lot in the car. Used to drive exDH crazy. I also made what A calls my "serious face" when I'm concentrating on something. I sort of purse my lips and slightly scowl. Thank goodness, he thinks it's cute.
