Who turned out the lights?? I thought I'd missed having to run in the early-morning dark, but of course today we were back into it with the clock turned ahead to 6:30. I actually had a decent run of 2.2 miles at a 10:30 pace, and think that if I continue doing easy runs with two days off between, I'll be on the road to a full recovery. And even those short runs relieve a lot of the mental tension that I've been having during my long (or at least feels long) layoff, so things are looking up.

Now I've got to catch up with the weekend's posts. I spend so much time on the computer during the work week that I generally stay off of it on weekends.

And here's an example of how geeky I can be for an old guy: I watched a DVD this weekend that I had heard about and requested for our library to get. It's a documentary called Helvetica. That's right: it's a movie about a font! Actually, anyone here who works in graphic arts would really enjoy it. It wasn't quite as interesting as I'd hoped, but it has had me paying more attention to signs, logos, ads, etc. MustangSally would understand.

Dang! And I thought the sequel, MS Comic Sans, was about the goings-on in Van 1.

Movie about fonts.. oookay.. There is a good movie about a guy who plays Donkey Kong "King of Kong" haven't seen it but it's supposed to be good (documentary). I guess the font movie was a documentary too

2 Magical, get the blood flowing, Healing miles with Tory at 10:28 pace, AHR 134. My cold is much better today and my back is feeling better too after yesterday's 23 miler. The rule of thumb about running when sick is, if it is above the chest/shoulders run; if it is in the chest (like sore to breathe) don't run. San Souci, maybe another run up that mountain is in order .

Some X-training afterwards (3x20 hamstring curls, 2x20 PU's, 20 lunges, 3x30 sec front, right, left extended arm planks)

Have great runs!
Good morning everyone. I woke up feeling really carpy and overtired. We ate late last night (birthday party for a friend) and I had a huge glass of wine, and then the dog started barking at 11:30pm and woke us up and I just couldn't fall back asleep. It was awful. DH and I were both horribly groggy this morning, and I would have taken a mental health day but one woman on staff is on vacation so we're slightly under par here. Oh well, a good night's sleep will do wonders, I'm sure.

This morning I did rowing for 30 mins at a good clip, then walked 1 mile and stretched for 5 minutes. Tomorrow I'll be back running again.

Choovie, I loved your rappelling pictures! You're so brave!

{{geeky Roch}} Mental tension indeed.

You know Susan, the dynamic duo are not the best encouragement for people contemplating dog ownership.

I'm glad someone else is griping about DST because I hated it this morning. I need sunlight to wake up, unless it's race day. Today's a rest day for me, well-earned because I definitely crossed the lactic threshold yesterday. I felt great then, but I'm sore this morning. Now if I could just delay the dry heaves a little longer in a hard run.

DS has his spring band concert tonight. That'll be fun. Hard to believe it's almost spring break. I need to get something to tie down my XC skis on top of the Escape Hybrid. I'll be doing downhill and XC skiing Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

One more edit-I want to share my trail run Saturday because I finished strong:

My running partner wanted to do some hill workouts,so today was the first one...You would have thought, since he is an engineer he would have accounted for the wind and the rain as well...6 miles at an 8:12 pace full of hills and wind all while getting soaked...great fun!!!

Sunny but cold and windy here. Come on spring! Hurry up!

It was workout day today. 8.5 miles with 4 at 5k pace. Supposed to be 5 and I tried, I really did, but the route I took had one too many hills. The 4 went like this:7:37,7:21, 7:33, 7:16. Overall pace 8:23.

Happy Monday!

Regarding the dynamic duo: They're the cutest things in the entire universe (except my kids when they were babies, of course). But of course they do regular ordinary doggie things, like chew up firewood bark when we're gone, and empty the wastebasket if they're bored and no one's around. It's pretty typical, I think. But there's nothing like snuggling up with one of them as they look at you adoringly ~ it makes up for any trouble that they cause!

Overall they're really very good, and that's why I get so shocked and annoyed when they do evil little things. When Truffle was a puppy, she chewed on the back of my dansko clog and ate the tongue of Mr. Riley0003's brand new hiking shoe. Luckily both were repairable. I had an english Bulldog once who loved the taste of TV remote controls and chewed up 8 of them <yup, 8, the kids never did learn to put it away out of the reach of the dog>. And I had a golden once named Gaffney who would steal towels from the bathroom and chew holes in them. Dogs do doggie things. Read "Marley and Me" if you want to read about some really evil doggie things, and how much the family loved the dog anyway.
