Long time gone, but you didn't miss anything in my world of running. Took a week off to let the legs rest, catch up with school and everything else in my life. Not actually sure if I'll have time for a run today. Group project meeting after class and then going to volunteer at the Feed My Starving Children center tonight with the athlete Bible study.

Have a great start to your week people!

Good morning all.

Good to see you Alex -- hope your legs are feeling well rested -- good luck with the project and the volunteering.

Did 10 miles on the mountain roads this morning. Yesterday's trail run was great -- even though I got lost driving in the dark on unfamiliar back roads so was nearly an hour late and had to do my 'group run" solo. The trails were beautiful and pretty challenging. I still got to meet up with Jill in the parking lot after the run -- was great to catch up with her.

Morning Alex, Loopy

Just finished up an early morning 14 on the trail near home. Forecasted temps were 57 but actual had to a good bit less. I could see my breath in the beam of my headlamp and it took about 3 miles to get warm in my short sleeves. Nice pleasant run though, last run of any serious mileage before New York.

Definitely behind schedule now for getting to work. Better finish breakfast and get moving again.

Alex -- Man you're a good guy. Almost said "kid" -- cause you were when I first "met" you. World could use more Alexes. Hope the rest did you good.

loopy -- Nice job, as usual. Is Jill as mean in person as she is on the board?

Hawk -- Less than two weeks to go!

Dan -- Still feeling better, yes?

Me -- Swam yesterday. Not sure what's doing today. Final stats from my sprint tri were 25th out of 86. 6/10 AG. 41st in the swim, 38th on the bike, 10th on the run. 68th "fastest" T2 time --

Alex--good to see you!

loopy--nicely done as usual.

30mins on the drainer this morning. Could have gone for the full 60, but decided to cut it short since I was sweating so much.

Still thinking about yesterday's race. As much as I like small races, I'm starting to question the safety. Conditions were bad, and obviously the RD has no control over that. But, at the finish line, I went down hard. Everything was black. I could sense people stepping over and around me. It seemed like a very long time before anyone checked on me. Obviously I was not okay. They simply told me to drink some gatorade and walked away. I don't know that I needed medical care, but certainly someone sitting with me to be sure I was recovering would have been nice.

Loopy- nice job on the run(s)

Hawk- Glad you were able to cram that early 14 in

Chances- Way to go on the Tri this weekend, maybe you should have run barefoot?

Mom- sorry bout the race, and the lack of moral values

I guess I'm gonna rest today. Quads/calves sore this morning from yesterday... don't want to over do it. I just hate not to run cause its gonna be a jacked up week for me. Off work Thursday, gotta go to a 'safety meeting' for work Friday morning, then off Saturday and back to work Sunday night. I know I'm gonna throw some hunting in there somewhere.

That sounds scary 4boys, at minimum it seems they should take you to a medical tent where you can lay down. You are one tough lady to finish in those conditions. Rest up after what your body has been through.

Alex - the rest should do you good, best wishe with all the good stuff you've got going on

Loopy - I saw the pics of the route on Jill's site - looks tough but really pretty

Hawk - way to go on the early 14

Chances - have fun with whichever

RA - awesome 10k yesterday - that was a rough age group, you pace was faster than than 2nd place in the 5k for your ag

I got my yoga in this morning, kinda rough as I felt tired & tight and my heat tolerance was low. Didn't push too hard and sat out a few poses, but survived.

4bm- Sorry to hear about the bad race yesterday. I hope all is well today.

Winter is here. 36* and a light rain/snow mix this morning. There were puddles everywhere as it has been raining off an on for 2 days now. 5 miles in 45:02(9:00). The run was nice and comfortable. Now I am ready to warm up. Have a great morning everyone.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda this morning. I got lazy instead of heading out for a recovery 5'er. Will try to get out at lunch. My appointment with the chiropractor tomorrow am is screwing up my schedule.

4boysmom - WTF? Write the RD. Even for a small race, medical personnel should be on top of that stuff.

kfuller - snow? Nice job on the 5.

zrun - nice yogaing. Thanks. I was very happy that my time was close to last year's and I found that track has given me a kick. It's the lone bright spot on my season. Overall, FLW races is one of my favorite events. Cheap, well organized, great course, nice long sleeve t-shirt, nice goody bag, gear check/hangout inside HS fieldhouse, nice awards, plus a "free" pancake breakfast in the HS cafeteria. The 10k is 45mins after the less competitive 5k so we could tag team with DD and support each other's race.

BBS - rest sounds like a good idea

chances - half ironman next year.

Hawk - nice job on the early 14. I'll be doing something similar on Wednesday am.

Loop - nice job on the 10. One word. Garmin.

Alex - something for the soul. Hope your legs are feeling better.

Jill - great shot for a meany!

4boysmom - Are you okay now?

kfuller - Nice 5. Do you run with anything attached to your shoes once the snow is on the ground?

zrun - do they have your drink water during hot yoga? Seems like you could lose alot of liquid.

BBS - I suppose you have trick or trating plans int here somewhere, too?

chances - Have fun whatever you do today.

Hawk - 14 on a Monday morning is impressive.

Loop - ditto.

Alex - I agree with chances. You are a good person.

Jill - oooooooh!

RA - enjoy the lunch recovery.

Me- beautiful and slow 7 miles with Easy in the stroller. We saw a box turtle, a rabbit and a heron. We also stopped for a few minutes for a brief game of pooh sticks. Perfect!

Jebba- I don't really need any extra traction once the snow starts sticking to the ground. Most of the time they are real good about plowing the streets. If not I just go slower and enjoy the scenery. December and January are bad months for air quality, so I go to the gym quite a bit also.

I am doing better today. Last night at church I had the worst "hang over" headache. I've been drinking a lot today. Juice sounded good, so that's where a majority of my calories have been coming from today. And a half gallon of chocolate milk.

This race company's races are very small. They don't have medical at the finish. The half I did during the summer there was a college-aged guy that went down at the finish. His parents were there. Other athletes were helping--getting him down, elevating his feet, getting cold water to drink and pour on. It was his parents who ended up calling 911. The guy that finally checked on me asked if I had anyone with me, which I didn't. I don't even know who that guy was, if he was race staff or just a spectator. Yah, you sign away all your legal rights on the race form. But, wouldn't you think morally RD's would take some responsibility for the runners? Like I said, I do prefer small races but now I'm seriously reconsidering.

Today was a recovery run. Slow, dead legged and uninspired run for me today. Body only wanted about 2 - 3 but I was able to get through 5 miles. I haven't run this slow since the heat of the summer. 55 days to the marathon.
