Morning all.

Add me to the resters group. My lower body is completely trashed today. I'm talking "marathon sore" -- and that's after a half marathon. Looking back at the course, about 9.5 of the first 10 miles were on concrete. Not to mention the rolling hills and endless uphill on the bridge. Then the last mile of the race was mostly on loose gravel & sand path.

I'm still assessing what yesterday's result all means for the road ahead. I didn't hit any of the targets I had in mind...PR (sub 1:29), hang on & break 1:30, or go 1:31 at least break 7:00/mile pace. But maybe those were not realistic. The course obviously was brutal. And I've struggled through the training this season; truthfully since mid-summer I've seen a slow decline in results. So in that sense yesterday falls right in line with recent performances. Why the decline? Dunno...most likely culprit is fatigue and the inability to keep going at the level I was earlier in the year. Now I just want to stay healthy, finish New York, get my bling and call it a season.

Anyway...Jill, I just might take you up on your idea. In fact I'm already about 95% sure I'm skipping Boston next spring so I can focus on excelling in my core distance range (10-13.1). Plus, if I skip Boston, I can finally do the Broad St. Run! And yeah, I love trails too...

FB - nice job on the 10, esp in the humidity. So glad we're done with that...oh wait a second, looks like it's coming back later this week. Oh well.
