Morning Millbot and those to follow. Ran a nice 6 miler this morning. Fun to see the sun coming up as we were finishing. Too bad it'll be dark tonight so early as I pick up a few more. Hope you all had good weekends and a great week ahead of you.

Good Morning Men and Women Fleet of Feet,

Life is Great! Wouldn't trade it for the World.

I was kinda slow rolling off the hay this morning.
Sprain pain in foot comes and goes. Comes after long runs goes after light runs. But it was ok directly after yesterday's run, not so okay this morning. I don't have any pressing engagements, so I may relax some- may have too. Other than the foot...

Feelin' better minute by minute,
Good Morning Mill, KS, JJJ and those who follow!

JJJ - after yesterday's adventure, you deserve the day off and rest that ankle!

6 must be the lucky number so far . . . I followed suit and did 6 untimed miles in beautiful New England weather. Who would have thought wearing a light long sleeve shirt and pants would be overdressing in Nov.?

Anyways, has anyone ever had issues with their piriformis muscle before? Before my marathon, I had some issues in one side of my "buttox". Deep in the center of the old cheek. I thought it was due to running 6 laps on my street that has a big hill. After a week of taking it easy, it resided. Well after my marathon, it's been a pain in the ass since, so to speak. My upper hamstring on that side bothers me at times during runs too - not enough to stop. I've started trying to stretch some, but not sure if it's helping or hurting . . . any good stretches to recommend? Thanks!

Hope you all have a great day!

I was going to wax all poetic about how the rising sun lit my ride into work with a lovely rose colour. Then I remembered that I was wearing my shades with the "Rose" lens in them.

Oh, well. It was a nice ride in. My eyes don't stream nearly as much when I can shield them from the cold wind generated by pelting down the hill in 34F. Moth-in-the-eye at those speeds is no fun, either. These shades are the most marvelousest shades - $25 with the lens you see there, and then all sorts of swappable colours for between $6 and $12. They go great under a helmet, and stay attached to my face when I run. Best deal in town.

It's really cold in the mornings now, so I have put this very fashionable toque under my lid:

Tonight: Definitely yoga, I'm also supposed to go biking. I really find it difficult to get motivated to go for a ride on a cool evening. Maybe I'll just swim instead.

Good morning. Hope everyone had a good weekend and feels more rested with the extra hour of sleep we got.

Pink, I think I may have the start of a little piriformis syndrome on the right side. Every once in a while I get a pain low in the right cheek .. on the part that you sit on. In fact, that's generally when I notice it is when I sit down on something hard. Then on my left side, I have a touch of pain in the sacroiliac area. My hips must be out of whack or something. And then there's my right elbow... Cripes, I'm falling apart. Fortunately, it is all still minor. heh heh!

Someone pass me a tennis ball and tell me to stop complaining....

Pink, try the pigeon pose.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKvitfxcz9w

Among other stretches, I do this for 30-60 seconds on each side after I cool down. When I started this stretch 6-8 months ago, I could not bend my torso past about 30 degrees. Now I can lay flat most of the time.

Good morning! All 6 milers this morning. I'm going to break the chain. I did 5, heavy-legged miles this morning. I feel like I'll never be able to run fast again! I know, patience, patience.

Yoga is a wonderful thing for runners. Wish I had time to do it more often. Try it Pink and Choovie.

2 x 30 min. 65-80% see-saw pool running (1 min rest)

I shorted my antique Polar HR monitor at the pool last week (good to 30 metres - bah!) so I'm doing the old-fashioned 15-sec carotid artery check. At 30 mins HR 124 and at end 128. This is in range coach set. I haven't a clue if I'm slacking or what.

Oh, and if you're running, no matter how slowly, please don't complain. I'm a touch touchy about that right now. You don't want me to go Easter Bunny on you now, do you?

Labduck, would you please make sure Howie sees this video?

Where's perchcreek?

Off to PT shortly. It's paradise here today. Stunning morning.

Happy Monday everyone!
A running weekend of extremes in terms of weather. 8 miles on Saturday in the wind driven rain and then 7 miles yesterday in beautiful conditions with crunchy leaves underfoot. Core and weights today.
Pink,
Are you running Manchester?

step away from the chocolate chips John!

I'll get in a run during my lunch break today - so probably 4 miles. Tonight I'll do some stretching and ab work. I'm hoping the lunchtime run and the sunshine will perk me up some.

I'm actually sore in other places than my foot today. Woohoo! My hill workout yesterday reminded my quads and calves that they have to occasionaly do something they don't want to. They've had it easy lately while I nursed my foot. Slackers!

SS, that video is really Phoebe our Maine ****. She does everything she can to wake us up and get us out of bed, and when she does, she promptly goes back to sleep. Howie is a lazy-ass tomcat who sleeps like a teenager. We have to drag him out of bed!

Oh, and I'll do a 4 mile run later in the blazing November heat. 63°F. I might have to run without a shirt.

Hey gin, I didn't hear any complaining in your post. And I know complaining... DD2 is an expert.

Fashionista MS, what did the vet say about Storm? Or am I mis-remembering that Storm was due for a follow-up?

No workout today -- I had physical therapy and then no time to do anything else. I'll do some stretching at home tonight.

Tomorrow I'll do a walk/jog for an hour.

I just had to quote that because I've never seen "Fashionista" and my identity put together in the same sentence before. (Mustang Filly is delighted with the Sushi Toque and has threatened to steal it.)

Storm goes to the specialist on Thursday, not a moment too soon. She is getting worse and worse each day and won't bear weight on the leg any more unless she must. She is depressed and just sleeps on her cushion all day, not even hanging out in the kitchen looking for goodies and pats. It makes me want to cry.

I had an intuitive flash yesterday while running that maybe she got into some kind of foxtail that has a seed working its way through her, which would explain how she's continuing to get worse, even after weeks and weeks of leash-rest. I really, really hope we find out what's ailing her. She's too young to be an Old Dog.

Storm (right - that's DoofusBoy on the left), in happier times:

awwww, look at those purty pups! I'm sorry to hear she's gotten worse.

gin, I'm only kidding. I'm likely the Biggest Whiner here, but it's easy for me to do and get away with since it's kinda tough to kick my own ass.

Man, I love those dogs, Sally. It is heartbreaking to hear she's so down. Here's hoping the specialist tracks down what's wrong and fixes it pronto. (Love the sushi hat. I have a plain ol' Smartwool cap, but I think I like my homemade one unless it's really cold.)

Labduck, did you remember to get choovie's yoga outfit at the Adidas sale?

Pink, if the stretches don't work over time, you may need to strengthen the area. I pulled up this during a search. Probably best to see a PT if it persists.

Made Brazilian peanut stew for dinner. I'll never be an organized Cooking Queen like Tammy, but it's fun to try.
